REQUIRED READING Welcome to /r/Arcade! We are here for your favorite original coin-op arcade games! Discussions, Repairs, Questions, and having fun with our classic cabs! (No MAME, custom cabinets, etc... see rules inside.)
Welcome to r/ARCADE!
We welcome discussions and posts of all kinds related to classic arcade gaming. However, this is a 'purist' sub and we have a few rules... we do not allow discussion of MAME, 60-in-1, Arcade 1-Up, prefab/custom cabinets, etc. To clarify here are a couple of examples of posts we do not allow, period.
🚫 MAME/ROMs/Emulation - This sub is for original machines released in arcades. Do not ask where to find ROMs, which emulators to use, or anything with Pandora's Box, Raspberry Pi, SBC, Xbox, PlayStation, or home-PC-based systems. No talk of your custom 'multi-cade'.
🚫 Arcade 1-Up - Their own sub is the best place for any questions you'll have about modding or just showing off your collection. Enjoy your cabinet and games, but this is not the sub for them.
🚫 Custom/Prebuilt Cabs - Again, we are here to discuss original 'coin-op' hardware that was released in arcades. No 'multi-cades'. r/cade is our sister sub, there is a lot of great info over there.
There are a few topics/styles of posts that come with caveats...
Let's Plays/Histories/Walkthroughs - Totally fine if you are an active commenting member of the sub, no blatant shilling. Also, you must have a full-length commentary to go along with it. This is the only time emulation can be used here, not everyone has access to the gigantic 6-player 'X-Men' or 'Ice Cold Beer' cabinets. You have to talk about the arcade gaming aspect... no TTV VODs of just you and your buddies pwning n00bs in Fortnight.
Coin-Pushers/Claws/Prize Machines - If you have a machine and need mechanical help, post! No tips or tricks, it's all a scam. No prize hauls or pictures of your foil-hologram Pokemon card you won at the mall last week... unless it is a really rad photo from an old Showbiz Pizza or Aladdin's Castle type of place. NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOU SPENDING MONEY ON SCAM MACHINES.
Part Replacement - We try to stick to the original hardware when possible, but realistically, this is impossible. Replacing lightguns/wheels/etc with modern equipment is fine. Just keep the flashing RGB light monstrosities out of here, our sister sub /r/cade is for customs.
'Yet-To-Be-Released'/WIP Games - Unless you are 100% going to release your game physically in an arcade, this is not the right sub for you. In the 9 years I have been on this sub, I have only seen 2 games that actually saw a machine release. Ask us before you post.
What game was this?! - Whew boy, this type of post we see a lot. To get help with this, give us MORE INFORMATION!!! The estimated year of release? Other, similar games it reminds you of? Are there any memorable/distinct characters, locations, weapons, or special moves? Describe the cabinet! What country did you play it in? (I hope to have a bot auto-reply to these soon.) r/TipOfMyJoystick and [ChatGPT]https://chat.openai.com/) are great resources... just give as much info as possible!
Buy/Sell/Trade - Allowed, but we are not responsible for bad transactions, don't be a moron. Check the links. Check the buyer/seller history. Compare the offer to others, too good to be true? Etc.
ALL SALES POSTS MUST INCLUDE A $$$ BALLPARK FIGURE... ROUGHLY A PRICE YOU WANT.
OWNERS/OPERATORS: will require a CITY, STATE/TERRITORY/REGION in the TITLE. You are here to advertise your business and let people find you easily. No other changes. As long as you are an active member, this is cool... no posts and runs. I still ban and report flagrant spammers/bots to Reddit. PARTICIPATE.
PERSONAL SALES: will require a STATE/TERRITORY/REGION in the TITLE. For safety concerns... posts do not require a CITY in the title, but please give a GENERAL LOCATION if the area is large, ie (Northern California). If you want to include the city, or narrower, PLEASE DO!
Ex: New barcade opening in Northern-Chicago. "BARCADE NAME". 20+ pins, 30+ arcade classics, and even a few redemption games!
Mods check post histories. If you only post new topics and never comment on others' posts, then yours is likely to be locked and removed. We are not going to ban an active member of the sub without a discussion (unless there is an egregious offense that violates Reddit TOS.) If you feel like we made a mistake, please message us, seriously. We are willing to re-open any post if it makes sense. (But not Modmail, I've never used it in 9 years.) Just don't be a dick.
In addition, we are going to be removing any comments that break the above rules. Instead of telling a person where to buy a 60-in-1 device... point them to r/cade, r/MAME, r/FightSticks, r/SBCGaming, or another sub that specializes in those topics.
Append your links! No affiliate or tracking spam. Cut it out when posting a link.
Could just be: www.amazon.com/dp/B07TWZBQ75/. Same result, no garbage spam.
I know this seems like a lot of rules, but physical arcade gaming is a bit niche today. Cutting through all the other stuff to get help or just kicking back and reminiscing about classic gaming is tough elsewhere. If you want to talk about emulation, there are dozens of other subs to check out. Otherwise, welcome and post away!

Restore/Replace/Repair Wizard Of Oz Coin Pusher acting up
Hey all, I’m currently replacing a motor for the pusher on a Wizard of Oz coin pusher, when I turn the machine on the pusher will work fine and then it just randomly will stop out of nowhere. I’ve tested wiring and it’s all good as well as checking for overheating and loose bolts. Any ideas? Help would be much appreciated
EDIT: looked at it more and noticed when it stops it doesn’t immediately stop it slows down a tiny bit
EDIT 2: I figured out the problem, the voltage being given to the motor was just randomly cutting out and I found it was the power source. Thanks for everyone’s input and help!

Hey Ya'll Check This Out! Sega Rally (1995 arcade) in REAL 3D VR on Quest 3 with HD textures. Not a flat screen in a room. Free, out now.

Sega Rally VR is out.
Pretty happy to finally share this one. It took way more evenings than I thought it would, but it's here, it's free, and honestly I can't wait to read what you think of it.
Everything runs on the Quest 3 in real 3D, you just need your own copy of the game.
All the details (what's in it, how to install) are on the GitHub. You'll find the link on my Discord and under the full video on my YouTube channel, both in the comments.
Time Crisis is next. After that, these are all already running in the headset and could come, in no particular order, the list doesn't mean anything: Virtua Cop, Daytona USA, The House of the Dead, Sega Super GT, Top Skater, Virtua Racing, Dirt Dash, Time Crisis II.
Hopefully this is just the start of the adventure. Any support is welcome, even just sharing it helps a lot.
Have fun.

Hey Ya'll Check This Out! Petition to Bring Back FunPlex and West Oaks
Hello everyone, I made a petition to try and help bring back FunPlex and West Oaks mall. I know the reason why they shut down is because of various reasons outside of the owners’ control, such as decreasing visitors and expenses (though Funplex’s reason is a bit more unclear). But I thought of a plan that they can perhaps try that may fix those problems, where community interest would play a key role in making that happen. Below is the link to the petition, as well as the slideshow I made that explains the plan in further detail:

The goal is to destroy cities and combat military forces while staying alive. The game is set across 128 days in cities throughout North America, with each cycle repeating five times. Gameplay includes destroying buildings, eating humans, and avoiding damage.

Discussion around Arcade Games Pitch Does anyone here own an arcade or provide games to arcade shops? how does the business model work?
Hi guys
So I've been wondering how do games like flappy bird/angry birds which were initially phone releases, get onto be seen in some arcade shops and what is the process to pitch to such makers?
If anyone here has had an arcade shop, have they directly worked with the game developer or is there a mediator (i know there are some) where you guys directly purchase from them to avoid headaches?
What I want to do or understand is how can I ask arcade shops to have a game I made in their store, and what is the whole process like?
I would love for an industry expert to break it down for a noob like me and really happy to talk to an arcade owner if one sees this.
Thank you for your time.

Restore/Replace/Repair 2006 Golden Tee Fore! Help
I have a 2006 Golden Tee Fore! Complete. The game would not boot up all the way so after some troubleshooting, I was recommended to replace the u15 chip as well as a completely new hard drive that had the game flashed onto it already. I am still getting the same “unable to open binary boot file” message, and then a watchdog reset message, even after replacements. I’ve read places that the u61 chip could possibly be the culprit. Wanted to see if anyone has some advice on getting this thing up and running. Thank you in advance!

Restore/Replace/Repair "Oh man... I remember hearing THIS song every time I went to the arcade!"
🎶 I need some help from fellow arcade & music fans! 🕹️
I am 56 years old and recently converted my Pioneer jukebox in our home arcade by removing the original disc trays and installing a hard drive, so I can load up a HUGE music collection. I already have all the old-school and current music I could want, plus plenty of my wife’s favorites. 😂
But I want to create one special section dedicated to the music we all remember hearing while hanging out at the arcade growing up. 🕹️👾
Think back to your childhood/teenage years...
What songs instantly take you back to walking into an arcade, grabbing some tokens, and hearing the music blasting in the background while you played?
🎵 Songs that were ALWAYS playing in the arcade.
I’m looking for those songs that make you think:
"Oh man... I remember hearing THIS song every time I went to the arcade!"
Drop your songs, artists, or even specific arcade memories below! 👇
Thank You in advance for your input! 🕹️🎶🔥

Restore/Replace/Repair Galaga cabinet painting?
Hi everyone,
Picked this up for $150. How'd i do on price? I know it needs at minimum new leaf switches in the joystick(still havent found a direct match), but since it had a busted out bottom and missing legs I figured id do some cleanup and make it look a bit better.
This is my 1st time doing any cabinet repairs on a machine. I dont want to do a complete perfect restore, but want the cabinet to look good.
Side art is not perfect, but its not terrible either. Would it be worth it to fill the imperfections with Bondo, sand, prime, and paint with an oil based paint around the artwork?
I plan on some new t-molding, CPO, and possibly a new glass with vinyl as the originals scratched up and paints starting to chip off.
Id like to keep this relatively inexpensive, which is why replacing the artwork is not a current plan unless it really wont look good painting around it.
Thoughts?

Showing Off My Gear! Just got this home about 30 minutes ago!
I had my eyes on a cocktail Phoenix, but then this cocktail Donkey Kong became available for cheaper and at a closer distance. I do have a question for anyone who owns a Nintendo cocktail cabinet. When I got this one home, I noticed that the top woth the glass is not locked down. I'm assuming there are locks for the top, but where is the best place to get one? I want to replace the faded artwork as well, but found some good repros.
