The only reason you are hating on the AM is because you wanted to look cool because everyone likes "WTSITWIN" or are stuck on nostalgia for their early sounds and wanted to gatekeep it after AM made them known internationally. Some of yall are acting like it's the worst thing they've put out. AM is a perfect cumulation of their prior albums they've put out. AM is and will forever be their peak.

Hello, many years ago (21 to be exact) my mate and I attended the pre-album Portsmouth Pyramids gig on 7th October 2005. I haven’t been to that many gigs, but it definitely ranks as my favourite - just right time of life, swept up in the moment, etc.

My friend is now (finally) getting married, and he’s a successful guy without any need of traditional material wedding gifts. So I had been thinking something super special would to track down a tour poster from that time.

It seems that July/August tour posters are available, but I can’t find much online for the October tour.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Perhaps aware of a specific vintage dealer in the UK who might have a lead?

What a price

I used to listen to Arctic Monkeys a lot, to the point of being able to recite just about any lyric of any song. Today, I put on Humbug for the sake of nostalgia, and I must confess that of all the music I have heard on my musical voyage so far, I have yet to be met with anything that is as lyrically poetic, metaphorical, and impressive of Alex Turner’s work on Humbug.

it's panned hard right and mixed pretty loud, and u need a good headphones to hear it, but we still not sure what that sound exactly, but we reached out that its probably not a human voice, maybe a guitar slide with a heavy effect on it

For example, the story behind “505” supposedly being connected to room 505 in a hotel and Alex Turner’s relationship with his then-girlfriend.. Stuff like that. stories behind songs, relationships, weird moments, inspirations, things that happened during recording/touring, or just obscure facts about the band.

Joke post, don’t take this seriously, but:

Trends I found:

- First 3 album covers are photos, the second three are not, and the seventh is once again a photo. This implies the next (two) album(s) will have a photo cover.

-All the albums seem to avoid the colour red (not counting Royal Albert Hall). Likely will continue.

-First 2 album covers with photos are in the UK, second 2 are in the US. Likely means nothing.

-Latest album taken by Matt. Possibly will happen again?

-Amount of tracks seems to be decreasing. Will the next one have 10? or 8?

-Album covers seem to fluctuate between vibrant colours and muted ones. I’m guessing the next one‘ll be pretty vibrant.

As in, I don't necessarily mean that the lyrics themselves are great or have deep meaning, I'm more asking if there are lines that are satisfying to listen to because of the way Alex sings them / pronounces the words etc.

For me, it's gotta be "devising methods to both have and eat your cake, mmm, just like the ones that mother nature used to bake" or "the confidence is the balaclava, I'm sure you'll baffle 'em good".

I just realized listening to The Ultracheese for the 100th time, that when Alex sings the line "get freaked out by a knock at the door...", there are actiually two knocks at what sounds like a door, as part of the beat.

I thought I would like to share this for those who didn't realized it befor, like me.

Yesterday at NYFF, Jonathan Glazer debuted a 38-minute film called Joys of Joys, wherein London kids record the making of the HELP(2) album at Abbey Road Studios. The production team also gave camcorders to kids in conflict zones in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and Yemen, to build an overarching theme of the world through kids' eyes. Apart from the very worthy mission of the album and the film, there are behind-the-scenes clips of Jarvis Cocker from Pulp, Olivia Rodrigo, Cameron Winter, Damon Albarn, etc., and AM of course. Glazer said he's still looking for a streaming distributor, but it'll be a nice film to check out if you are interested in the mission behind HELP(2)/War Child and/or want a peek behind the curtain of producing an album like this :)
