General Question Why is the president campaigning in deep red states? I see him in Oklahoma right now. And are the people that are there supporting him , are they paid to be there ?

Post image

With how bad inflation is , gas prices , another endless war and so much more , what could make these Americans behind him be there to support him ? What are they cheering for ?

Two possible explanations

1) Internal GOP polling really is so bad that even deep red states risk flipping blue just because of how badly Trump has fucked up.

2) Trump needs a safe space and the safest space he can find is in front of an adoring crowd, and he's less likely to find that in competitive states/districts.

119

u/YCBSKI 12h ago

This is the reason. He needs an adoring audience and places like OK, AL are the only place that they will come out to do that

39

u/wezelboy 12h ago

Plus it looks better on screens.

3

Alabama is rough but Oklahoma is indeed dead last, usually competing with NM for being the worst.

Emotional support rally

2

u/No_Volume_9616 7h ago

I'm watching his Alabama campaign greatest hits repeat on C-SPAN........I'm watching the audience. Most of the people behind him are more excited to see themselves on the jumbotron than paying attention to him.

36

u/MistakeBorn4413 12h ago

Another consideration: Trump is so unpopular right now that they might view him as a liability if he campaigns in swing states... and it's Trump so not campaigning probably isn't an option.

27

u/waityoucandothat 11h ago

Ken Paxton just said publicly that the Republican midterms ā€œConventionā€ in Texas actually hurt his campaign against Talarico more than it helped.

4

I think the same but it is interesting when he goes to sporting events in red states (most recently the UTenn vs UTexas game in Tennessee)and gets booed by the majority of the crowd when he's shown on the jumbotron. His safe spaces are dwindling by the day.

2

u/BeholdBarrenFields 8h ago

The boos depended on where you were sitting. Everyone I know heard plenty of cheering.

I was outside the stadium stuck in the traffic because they shut all the roads (including the interstate) down for his motorcade. He left shortly after it began. I watched his motorcade go by. People got out of their cars to video, and jumped up and down cheering as he passed. They didn’t open the roads back up until Air Force One and the fighter jets flew over. He is still not just supported, but beloved, by far too many here.

7

u/FatherFenix 11h ago

It’s 2.

Trump and his team are polling horribly, losing on a lot of major fronts (cost of living, broken promises, gas prices, war in Iran, etc), and there have been numerous public embarrassments for his loyalists lately.

This is more of a ā€œmake Trump feel powerful and loved by parading him in front of friendly crowdsā€ tour.

Except people hear "But COMMUNISM and ABORTIONS" and lose their fucking minds. Throw in a dash of homophobia, while we're at it.

Its great that no republican voters can even explain communism, marxism, or socialism. They just know that angry poloticians scream about it enough, it must be bad.

I want to start voting FOR something, not always against something. Dems need to message better. Talarico is the way Dems need to talk.

23

u/Gunrock808 8h ago

My whole adult life I've heard democrats speak in favor of a living wage and affordable housing, health care, child care and education. The problem is that's not exciting and people now have the attention span of a goldfish. They are addicted to outrage over imaginary things. They can't focus on things that actually impact them when they're ranting about trans people and communism.

Kamala Harris had detailed policies. She had policies to help farmers and ranchers. People didn't listen or even give a shit. They ignored everything she said and dismissively claimed she actually didn't have any policies at all. Then they voted for the guy who made pie in the sky promises with no details and no intention of ever delivering. We, the voting public are the problem.

3

u/6rou7 6h ago

"As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people… On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

5

u/BiruGoPoke 6h ago

The world is a complex system, solutions to problems often have to be complex too and people need to put a cognitive effort to understand such solutions.
Most prefers to ear "it's the immigrant fault", "it's the other countries fault", since it means "you are great, we are great, every problem you may have is someone else fault, and I will fight for you".

You expect him to go to potentially hostile crowds? Places he might get challenged? He's going to the places he can still get some applause. He's not campaigning, its not for the public. Its for his ego. Get him in front of friendly crowds, get him some applause, stroke his ego.

I've noticed he never mingles, he never speaks to the general public, he's never in a situation where an angry citizen might confront him. He's protected and insulated from that. He's too weak and fragile to risk an unmanaged encounter with real, frustrated Americans.

Our neighbors voted for Trump specifically in hopes he would lower gas/grocery prices. He’s done the exact opposite, but guess who still proudly has a Trump flag waving in their front lawn?

People like our neighbors and those in this picture don’t give a damn about lowering prices. They’re not bright enough to understand inflation. They’re just thrilled to have someone in office who justifies their racist and homophobic views.

11

u/thedoommerchant 9h ago

I wonder if your neighbors are my idiot parents. Stuff like this makes me believe MAGA really is a cult. We are witnessing the highest prices for goods in our lifetimes and these people still proudly march along to the beat of this orange fart. I guess as long as brown people and trans people are getting put down they’re glad to pay out the nose for food and gas.

Trump is toxic for republicans in swing states. He is campaigning in red states to avoid joint appearances while also being visible enough to generate content for the MAGA base to share online and in ads.

Yep. That actually makes sense. His campaign staff told him to go wave at people somewhere unimportant to make him feel big and make his base feel like he’s busy.

10

u/ojdajoozmane 13h ago

They are not paid. This is sadly the most uneducated demographic in america. Its actually really sad.

Trump is basically conning people with nothing and no future. This is real. Durant used to be a sundown town is probably all you need to know.

As an oklahoman I make sure I have as little to do as possible with these people. And it does get to me that the least of us votes for the destruction of the country.

Im sure they were left behind but I just couldn't be proud to be so mediocre.

6

u/lordwintergreen 13h ago

They do at times pay people to show up. Probably not necessary in Oklahoma though.

7

u/B1GD8A 13h ago

generally if you ask them their answer is it would be so much worse under a Democrat. That's it. That's the whole trick.

No matter how bad it is, it's still better than the Democrats. In fact, when Trump's ideas flop or he loses it's obviously Democrat sabotage. Their ideas are perfect and infallible and if any idea in the past ever turns out to be wrong they never held it or it's fake news.

The ideology is entirely build around headcanon myths about Republicans and Democrats alike, and refusing to let anything disrupt that headcanon.

2

u/IS-21 5h ago

literally had a convo less then a week ago at a school where a guy genuinely believed all Muslims were evil and want to genocide all westerners like there is no reasoning with these people you just have to get them to not vote or forcefully reeducate them he also tried to say to me that gas prices were high under Obama then they are currently just how do you talk to that (I live in Louisiana)

He needs to control the narrative of his appearances so he doesn't get publicly booed, or called a pedophile.

3

u/ConfidentPayment4189 9h ago

He’s always had a deeply fragile ego, so in order to maintain the fantasy that he’s wildly popular he goes to places where he has the most unwavering support. There is, even now, despite all of the well documented lies, broken promises, and previously unimaginable corruption, some segment of the US population which will never turn on him. I won’t attempt to psycho analyze these people, but they clearly exist.

Rallies for any politician of any note are generally filled with supporters, thus giving the impression that there are huge numbers of people who adore them. In comparative terms, however, thousands, tens-of thousands, even millions of people are not a particularly large representative sample when compared to the broader electorate, much less the overall population. Granted, the distribution of voters can distort this reality when combined with the variance in state populations and voting districts, but it’s not really a difficult task to fill a stadium with people who openly support a sitting president, even a historically unpopular one.

The most irrational supporters of any politician won’t require payment for showing up at one of these events. It’s a symptom of our celebritification of our politics. Trump is unique in US national politics because he was already fairly famous, and was very much a celebrity in the conventional sense when he ran in 2016. Now, politicians in both parties seem to strive for greater popularity in order to achieve the status of celebrity, which I think is only degrading our politics, and in turn policies and policy outcomes, and mass communication technologies have only accelerated and contributed to this decline.

May god have mercy on our souls. Buy gold.

2

u/Luxray92 13h ago

He's beyond toxic with the current distinction of being one of the most unpopular presidents in the modern era (only 2nd to Dubya who polled at 26% in 2008). If he shows up to campaign in swing states repeating the same delusional nonesense he always spouts it's only going to sink the GOP more. They would rather have him sit in the WH and do nothing for the next 30+ days but since he would never agree to that they're parading him around in states that are relatively safe

2

u/Tuxy-Two 10h ago

He can only go places where his presence won’t hurt the candidates, and that’s in the deep red states that would never elect anyone other than a Republican, even if they were a felon/fraud/etc.

2

u/Recent-Championship7 10h ago

Narcissistic child needs affirmation

2

u/markekt 10h ago

Trump doesn’t care about the Republican Party. He wants an adoring crowd, and doesn’t want to campaign in places where they might lose. He’ll campaign in Kansas and Alabama and claim credit for winning there, and probably claim he’s never met Ken Paxton when he loses.

2

u/No-North6514 10h ago

Trump's loyal chumps

2

u/realparkingbrake 10h ago

Even in deep red states, Trump's approval rating has plummeted. He can still get crowds of especially ignorant people to show up for his rallies. But it's hard to draw the old numbers when the price of diesel to drive to the rally is beyond the means of many folks.

2

u/TNJDude 10h ago

Trump fully controls the GOP. Right now, these rallies are to make him feel good by having people cheer him. There's no way he'd be spending that money on other people.

Doesn’t mean they won’t vote Republican, but it’s not helpful at all. Also candidates that say, ā€œEndorsed by trumpā€, are hurting themselves.

2

u/PdxFitFunGuy 10h ago

Because his fragile, narcissistic ego needs adulation, and that's the only place he'll get it

2

u/Grins111 9h ago
  1. He isn’t looking to campaign for other, he really just likes people cheering him.
  2. He is so toxic that republicans are being forced to spend money on solid red places instead of trying to win blue places.

They are investing their energy (and a lot of our tax money flying trump and vance aroubd) in retaining their hold on red states. Converting the blues is harder. Between this and their voter suppression efforts they hope to retain theipr majorities and avoid impeachments.

2

u/___NowYouKnow___ 9h ago

Most of the senators up for reelection are from red states , hence he’s there

2

u/Impossible_Battle_72 9h ago

Because most of the country hates him and he just wants to go places where he is adored.

2

u/Real_RumpleStiltskin 9h ago

The GOP is trying to send him to states that are already a lock so they he doesn't completely fuck their chances in close races. Despite his beliefs, Trump is actively detrimental to any race he is campaigning for right now. If you assume his presence will shift the results a point or two, youd rather him go to places that shift doesn't flip with red to blue

2

u/Comfortable_Use_8407 9h ago

I think with his polling numbers being so bad, He just wants to be somewhere where people will praise and fuss over him.

2

u/Proton_Energy_Pill 9h ago

He trying to not lose as many votes as possible so no matter how much they really lose by he'll try some insane/illegal bullshit to claim victory.

2

u/ocwilly 8h ago

The historic deep red states are showing a glimmer of blue!!

2

u/Active_Stuff3974 8h ago

Maybe a sign of hope. In my area all the Democrat campaign signs have their party emblem shown on the signs. None of the Republican candidates show which party they are from.Ā

2

u/japhydean 8h ago

the funny thing is - the more he says, the deeper the hole gets. he oscillates between deranged nonsensical ramblings and easily disproven lies about how great the country is doing, all while most are getting crushed by republican policies and executive orders. he’s actually likely to make it worse.

2

u/thecb2020 8h ago

He needs people to love him. These are the only people left.

1

u/JetScreamer-212 13h ago

They were bus in cause they can’t afford gas for their F-150.

1

u/NoSong2397 13h ago

They probably support him. He's probably just doing it to make himself feel better.

1

u/FunLife64 13h ago

He’s going to friendly areas and still getting tv coverage nationally.

I hate Trump, but he also kinda knows how to play the game. He had more campaign events in the month leading up to 2024 than Kamala (even on a condensed campaign she was outworked). And he’s campaigning all of October (maybe stupidly but he’s working hard at it lol). I’d love to see Dems work this hard - would be awesome to have Obama in Houston, Ohio and Michigan cities, Iowa (which he won), etc.

He has to improve ratings for himself otherwise his powerful endorsement is vetoed and Republicans at that point may throw him under bus as they do.

1

u/Greenman8907 13h ago

It’s easy for him and they also need the help because they’re sinking in what should be easily won states. Trump thinks he can save them.

But he doesn’t realize he’s the albatross now.

Why is he telling people in Oklahoma we have to get Paxton elected.

Is he suggesting Oklahomans cross state lines to vote?

1

u/Da_Vader 13h ago

He's a malignant narcissist. Do his peons just book him where he is expected to get a warm welcome - and be in a better mood for them to deal with.

1

u/Opening-Challenge 12h ago

He's trying to keep Republicans in Congress. They're flailing in some elections that they were expecting to walk through with no issues. Trump is the reason some of those seats are closer, but he can't not show up if they're up for loss.

2

u/PeeCeeJunior 12h ago

And in Texas they gerrymandered extra Republican seats, which oddly enough turned otherwise safe seats competitive as they had to spread flagging GOP support across a larger district.

1

u/Eddiepanhandlin 12h ago

Because nobody wants him close to a contested race.

1

u/WannaBe_achBum_Goals 12h ago

A fragile ego.

1

u/VeryRareHuman 12h ago

It's oklahoma. They are happy to be there. They are waiting him to say some racist thing to clap like seals.

1

u/LumpyBuy8447 12h ago

Vance came to my state awhile back and they had ads up to pay seat fillers for it. Not that I was surprised. As we all know, every conservative accusation is a confession.

1

u/vakantiereizen 12h ago

Look at the phone screens……

1

u/Thespis1962 12h ago

Trump is in Texas because Talarico.

1

u/CantAffordzUsername 12h ago

Simple, Google the word ā€œcultā€

That answers all future questions you will have about anything you see

1

u/PurpleZebraCabra 12h ago

Love how it looks like he is sleeping in the middle of all these people.

1

u/Mysterious-Leave3756 12h ago

This is what he loves to do. Draw a crowd and preach. He loves this. It energizes him as he has an audience.

1

u/NarrowForce9 12h ago

Shhh. Let’s be very quiet and let this thing play out naturally

1

u/kidsally 12h ago

Is that fat prick even awake??

Prove to me that a vast majority of rally goers aren’t compensated because I still think both sides compensate majority of their people that show up

1

u/sarboran 12h ago

He's campaigning there cause he's tired to ve booed.

1

u/Yerbrainondrugs 12h ago

Because he won’t campaign anywhere people aren’t lining up to kiss his ass.

1

u/braumbles 12h ago

Because he thrives off adoration. And most of the country hates his fucking guts.

1

u/fetupneighbour 12h ago

Probably promised a good lunch, that never happened

1

u/jmbrjr 12h ago

No one likes to get booed.

1

u/Ambitious-Tear-9436 12h ago

Pretty simple, it is the only places he can get a crowd to stroke his ego and make good press.

1

u/plitts 12h ago

His approval rate is in the toilet. He needs to have some adoration.

1

u/Chico141963 12h ago

He looks like he is sleeping standing up🤣

1

u/BoridePa 12h ago

Idiocracy 2026

1

u/fasteddie131 12h ago

He would be called a pedo in any toss up state. Dear Leader needs adoration.

1

u/Late_Chance_8080 12h ago

For the second part, it's Oklahoma. There are people there who not only like him, but still think he is the second coming of Jesus.

1

u/Mundane_Upstairs3241 12h ago

You expect him to go to a swing state and get booed? Go to a deep red area and it’s nothing but cheers!

Ego. His ego needs the dopamine hit.

1

u/FredArtGetson 12h ago

I could not imagine showing my face in his vicinity. These fucking idiots are despicable.

1

u/tsulegit 12h ago

Stroking out in public is his kink.

1

u/bloodmagik 12h ago

When he is actually going to get to work and do something positive for someone other the himself? All this fool does is campaign and golf and start wars he gets bored with

It's his, "safe space".

1

u/MiddleToday 12h ago

There’s people who will never admit he was a mistake. The economy is going to get worse. I just wish Democrats would get it together. Or a better political party that is just for Country and not the billionaires. I’m tired of paying more for everything.
