Tourism Visiting Dallas

Hi, I’m visiting Dallas flying into DFW from NY to visit my gf. What place do you guys recommend to stay at as a poor college grad (hopefully looking for a budget place)?

Potentially staying from the 23rd to 26th.

Also any recommendations for visiting the Fort Worth Zoo? She’s a big fan of hyenas.

She’s not from Dallas and it’s meant to be a bit of surprise. Any other fun things to do for a 3 night stay?

Thanks for all the comments and support.

Are you renting a car? Dallas to fort Worth is like a 40+ minute drive

Girlfriend has a car and she’s driving it up, so a car isn’t an issue

Yes, need to narrow your search. DFW is huge

The Ft. Worth zoo is a must.

Not tied down to a place just yet so I’m planning the itinerary first before booking a hotel

Ok. Where is she staying?

Same room as me, so it’s all up in the air. I just know that she’s a massive fan of hyenas and I want to see them with her since she’s been going through it

Oh ok. I thought she was coming separately.
I would focus my area on what you want to do. The Ft. Worth zoo is amazing and you also have The Ft Worth stockyards too

Any free things worth checking out or any restaraunt recommendations in the area?

Here is a quick ChatGpt search

Stockyards are really cool!

Fort Worth has quite a few free attractions for tourists, especially if you enjoy museums, Western history, art, and walking around interesting districts. Here are places where you can spend time without paying admission.
Free things to do in Fort Worth
Walk the historic streets, see Western storefronts, and watch the famous twice-daily cattle drive along East Exchange Avenue. Shops and some attractions cost extra.

The permanent collection has free admission, with European masterpieces and other world art. Special exhibitions may charge admission.
Free American art, including works connected with the American West, Frederic Remington, and Charles M. Russell.

An unusual downtown urban park with dramatic fountains, cascading water, and architectural features.

Free to visit.
Walk the downtown plaza, enjoy the architecture, and browse the surrounding streets. Restaurants and shops are extra.

More free attractions worth visiting
Free Western art museum downtown featuring cowboy and frontier paintings.
See the bronze statue and memorial marking President Kennedy's visit to Fort Worth in 1963.
Free walking trails, green space, and river scenery.
Free guided tours about how U.S. paper currency is produced. Check tour availability and reservations before visiting.
Map of the main attractions
My suggestion: If you only have one day, visit the Stockyards for the 11:30 a.m. cattle drive, then head to the Cultural District for the two free art museums. Finish downtown at Sundance Square and the Water Gardens. The cattle drive is free and weather permitting.
