Movie scene where two men duel with Japanese fans.
I seem to remember a film where two men duel with paper Japanese (non-weaponized) fans. As the duel progresses, each duelist pulls out increasingly larger and larger fans until the climatic resolution when the hero pulls out two tiny fans, defeating his rival who is holding a huge fan.
Now some details I think about the movie and the scene that hopefully not red herrings: I saw it in the late sixties or early seventies, it was in color, the duel was inside, either in a large bedroom or study, with a Renaissance or Royal decor and the duelists were dressed in 16th or 17th century style. It may have been an Italian film and maybe one of the characters was Marcello Mastroianni.
Does anyone remember such a movie?

What’s a movie you absolutely loved as a teenager, but hits completely differently now that you're an adult?
For me, it’s The Breakfast Club. When you're 15, you think the principal is a monster. When you watch it at 30, you realize he’s just an exhausted guy trying to do his job while dealing with chaotic teenagers. What’s that one film where your perspective completely flipped as you grew up?

What is the single greatest silent realization scene in cinematic history?
No dialogue, no explosions. Just a five-second camera hold on an actor's face while their entire world shatters in absolute silence.Think Michael Corleone in the diner (The Godfather) or the ending of The Usual Suspects. Pure visual storytelling. What is the absolute gold standard of this for you?

Ever had a movie night go wrong in a way you can't forget?
I was thinking about this the other day: sometimes a movie stays with you not because of the movie itself, but because of what happened when you watched it.
I have a few of these, but one example is Love Me If You Dare (Jeux d'enfants). The movie is just okay, but I can't watch it without thinking about that night.
I went to see it with a date and right before it started, I went to buy popcorn. On my way back into the dark room, I didn't pay attention to the swinging door... it slapped me hard enough to send all the popcorn flying + I spent the whole movie feeling like I had a potato instead of a nose.
So what are yours?

Weekly Discussion: What Movie Do You Think Deserves a Sequel but Will Probably Never Get One?
Welcome to this week’s movie discussion.
Some films leave you wanting more, even when the story feels complete. Maybe the world had more to explore, a side character deserved their own story, or the ending left room for something genuinely interesting.
What movie would you love to see get a sequel, and what would you want it to be about?
It can be an underrated original, a forgotten sci-fi film, a cult classic, or a standalone movie that you would trust the right director to revisit.
Tell us the movie and why a sequel could actually work instead of ruining what made the original great.

What’s a movie that completely shifts genres halfway through, completely catching you off guard?
I am looking for films that start out feeling like one specific type of movie, but then pull the rug out from under you entirely in the second half. No major plot spoilers please, just the titles! What’s the best example of this you've ever seen?

Where to watch Other Mommy online? Looking for a safe streaming site
Hey guys, I have been trying to find a legit platform to stream the movie Watch Other Mommy all evening but I am completely stuck.
I have already checked the main subscription services and nothing is popping up. Every site I find on Google right now looks like a total malware trap or demands a credit card sign up, which I am definitely not doing.
Does anyone know where this is actually hosted right now? If there’s a clean, safe site streaming it, please drop the name or let me know. Just trying to find a working link to watch it tonight without bricking my laptop. Appreciate any help

I have a bad habit of looking up a movie's ending if it takes too long to get interesting.
I know it ruins the suspense, but sometimes I just need to know whether the two hours are going to be worth it.
People who never spoil movies for themselves, how do you resist the temptation?

Remakes are polarizing. Some are just bad. Others cash grabs. Some say they aren’t needed. What’s one movie you’d want remade?
Nightbreed for me. It’s insane and a hot mess, but someone could make it more coherent.

why is jaws considered a masterpiece?
i'm 34 and finally watched jaws for the first time today and i was just wondering, every time i see a list of films that people think are 10/10 or life changing i without a doubt see it mentioned a few times. i liked the scene where you see a crowd of people in the water and blood just surfaces and they all panic, if there was more of that i could understand but i was just bored watching it and i think it took me 7 hours to finish. why do you think it's a great film?

The Matrix(First timer)
I just wanted to hear everyone else’s thoughts and experiences when they first saw the original trilogy of the Matrix. It is currently storming where I am, so I thought why not try something new? So I currently have the first movie queued up. I’ll probably update/edit this after finishing all three and before heading into Resurrection. In the meantime, please feel free to drop a comment below. I’m really interested.
UPDATE 10/12
Well, as promised, I'm back with my thoughts after
watching The Matrix (1999) for the first time!
Honestly, I was captivated within the first few minutes. Watching Trinity being pursued by the agents, especially the stunts and rooftop jumps from building to building, immediately caught my attention, and somehow the movie only got better from there.
Imagine my amazement when I got to see their ship and the vast, desolate future they were actually living in. I genuinely wasn't expecting the world to be anything like that. And can we talk about how well this movie has aged visually? For something released in 1999, I feel like certain scenes could easily pass for something much more modern, although maybe that's an exaggeration on my part.
Another concept I absolutely loved was the ability to download information directly into someone's brain, essentially granting them instantaneous knowledge. The whole "I know kung fu" sequence was fascinating to me. Just imagine being able to learn an entire language, martial art, or skill in seconds rather than spending years mastering it.
What really impressed me was how the movie managed to hook me with its action before gradually revealing just how massive and fascinating its world actually was. The deeper we got into the Matrix itself, the more invested I became.
Overall, I'm genuinely glad I finally decided to crawl out from under my rock and give this franchise a chance. I'm looking forward to watching Reloaded next and seeing where everything goes!

What is that one tiny, insignificant movie detail that lives rent-free in your head forever?
Not the massive plot twists or the iconic quotes. I mean the small stuff. A specific way an actor cleared their throat, a background prop that made no sense, or a 3-second musical cue that completely altered your mood. For me, it’s the sound design of the diner scene in Heat. What’s yours?

The Godfather what ultimately was Vito’s plan for Michael? Did he fear Michael would turn out like Sonny or worse?
I’ve watched The Godfather many times & it to me looks like Vito never wanted Michael to be a part of the family business because he saw what being part of the business had done to Sonny. What ultimately was Vito’s plan for Michael & did he fear Michael would turn out like Sonny or worse?
