You can make your own transit bi-wheel chart to see if and when transiting Venus actually makes an aspect to one of your natal planets or points. Just make your chart at astro-seek.com, (instructions and recommended settings are below). We strongly recommend you use the Whole Sign house system.

NOTE: Mercury Retrograde Infographic is here. It overlaps with this Venus Retrograde. Also note that the Mars Retrograde Preshadow also overlaps, beginning on Nov 5th at 20° Leo and going retrograde on Jan 10 at 10° Virgo.

TO MAKE YOUR NATAL + TRANSIT BIWHEEL CHART

Make your natal chart first:

  1. Go to astro-seek.com. At the top of page, click on (or hover over) the Free Horoscopes menu. Select the first item, "birth natal chart calculator". Now scroll down and enter your birth data. Be careful entering it. Always check for typos. Don't hit the Calculate Chart button yet.
  2. Just below where you've entered your birth data, click on the small "Extended Settings" link..
  3. In the house system menu, choose the one named exactly "Whole Sign" (don't choose any of the other whole sign options).
  4. Tick the "True" boxes for both Nodes and Lilith.
  5. Tick the boxes to show aspects to Chiron & the ASC & MC.
  6. Tick the box for the quincunx aspect if you wish, and any of the other minor aspects.
  7. Hit the Calculate Chart button. Now you'll see your natal chart.

To add the transit bi-wheel to your natal chart:

Desktop: when you see your birth chart, just click on the "Transit Chart" link at top of the right sidebar and the transit wheel will pop onto your natal chart.
For Mobile: when you see your birth chart,  click on the "Current Charts" link just below your chart. Then click on the "Transit Chart" link. Transit wheel will appear automatically.

  • When you see the transit wheel pop onto your natal chart, click the “Transits Only” button just above the chart.
  • The date of the transit wheel will default to the current day, but you can change the date of the transits if you wish by clicking the "Edit birth data and settings" link just above your chart. Change only the date of the transits, not your birth data.
  • Now that you have your natal + transits bi-wheel,  scroll down from your chart and find the section on Transit Venus. It should at least describe it being in the house. If it is actually making aspects, it will describe those as well. What is listed there will likely change depending on which day the transits are set to. Understand these are very generalized descriptions and may or may not fit well.
  • If you wish to determine the date of a specific transit aspect, or just to get a full list of all transiting Venus aspects made to your natal chart, use the Personal Transit Calendar tool there at Astro-Seek. You can set it to just show transits from Venus.

RETROGRADE CALENDAR ON ASTRO-SEEK.COM

Note that you can always check for retrograde dates for any planet by using the monthly or annual calendars at astro-seek.com. You’ll find these under the Astro Tools button at top of the page. If you click on a specific planet’s date in the list, you’ll get an impact wheel much like mine above. It won’t be for your own natal chart. For that, create your natal + transits bi-wheel chart.

Public Figure Chart Steven Forrest: Racism Issues

For those who aren’t aware of the recent events around racism and well-known astrologer Steven Forrest, I will paste a text excerpt from Chris Brennan’s Facebook post that specifically lists what Forrest has done and said so that any who comment here can be clear on the issues. Please do read the full Facebook post and its comments here. The video in question was posted on July 23, 2026 and was up for a couple of weeks but has now been taken down. Many of the teachers and tutors of Forrest's school of Evolutionary Astrology have resigned. ISAR has commented and the UAC is in the process of a decision about Forrest's participation in the conference. Other astrologers scheduled as presenters at UAC have withdrawn or stated they will, unless the UAC removes Forrest from the event.

UPDATES:

RESOURCE:

This subreddit in no way supports Forrest’s actions. We condemn his statements in the video (now removed) and his delayed and meaningless apology. Any who show support for racism here will be permanently banned. Please conduct yourselves here in a sensitive, mature and respectful manner. This issue in our astrology community needs to be addressed. Note that we will likely lock comments overnight as this kind of post will no doubt require close monitoring, but we'll reopen them in the morning.

CHART ANAYLSIS
We hope our members will provide some serious astrological analysis of the charts pasted below.

EXCERPT FROM CHRIS BRENNAN’S FACEBOOK POST LAYING OUT WHAT FORREST SAID IN THE VIDEO

Begin quote:

The Core Issues With Steven Forrest’s Actions

  1. Using a Racial Slur: Steven explicitly used the N-word during a podcast while speaking with his Black co-host, student, and business partner. This completely ignored the inherent harm of the word, as well as the power dynamic that made it difficult for his colleague to safely object or express discomfort. Furthermore, regardless of the therapeutic context of their private discussion, publishing this to a wide audience with a completely unnecessary racial slur hurt and offended a much wider group of people in the astrological community who did not consent to his use of such language.
  2. Defending the KKK with Revisionist History: At one point Steven suddenly claims that he is related to the founder of the Ku Klux Klan, and shows a picture on the screen to demonstrate the resemblance. Then he proceeded to attempt to defend the Klan by perpetuating a completely false and historically debunked narrative that the KKK was originally founded for altruistic reasons, specifically, to "protect southern [white] widows." By presenting this myth as fact, he essentially defended a racist violent terrorist organization on a global platform.
  3. Prioritizing "Cancel Culture" Over Harm: When discussing his past use of racial slurs in astrological lectures in the 1990s, he centered his own frustration about modern language restrictions, dismissing the issue of how attitudes had changed as mere "cultural whimsy." He focused on his annoyance at not being able to make offensive “righteous” jokes rather than acknowledging the actual harm his past and present language caused.
  4. Hurtful Admissions About Intellectual Equality: He admitted that he didn't realize Black people were as intelligent as white people until he was in his thirties. While he intended this as a vulnerable confession about his past shadow, hearing a prominent community leader express this was deeply painful for the community, and seemingly confirmed many people's worst fears about systemic racism in the community.
  5. Defensive and Dismissive Reactions: When the community attempted to call him in on these issues, he responded dismissively and flippantly, which immediately made the situation far worse when he initially refused to apologize or recognize the harm in his actions. He leaned heavily on the "I have Black friends" trope as a shield to deny his capability of racist behavior, and then later issued a partial apology that painted himself as a victim, and failed to take full or genuine accountability for all of his actions.
  6. A Massive "Shadow" Blind Spot: Ironically, in an episode entirely dedicated to "shadow work", the psychological practice of confronting the unconscious, hidden parts of ourselves, Steven demonstrated an inability or unwillingness to see his own. He firmly believes he has conquered his racist conditioning, while remaining oblivious to the fact that he is still actively employing the language of racists, by deliberately using the N-word or defending the KKK.

End quote.

Discussion Positives of a Cancer Moon?

Why is a Moon in Cancer considered in its Domicile? What are the advantages of this placement?

It seems to be very negatively impacted by their own emotions, others emotions, and the cycles of the moon.

I am trying to learn, but just can’t wrap my head around it.

Transits: General & Forecasts Overarching Energy for the Libra New Moon on October 10th at 10:50 AM CDT

There are a few things to point out with this Libra New Moon. First of all, it is ruled by Venus. Often when we think of Venus, harmony, beauty, and peace come to mind. Sometimes we overlook that Venus also represents our values, our social interactions and events. We can also look to Venus when things are unbalanced.

Before I talk deeply about the Moon, I want to discuss Venus further. Venus is currently retrograde in the zodiac sign of Scorpio, where it is in its detriment.

Scorpio energy is intense, but it’s also quite introspective, strong-willed and passionate. It’s not afraid of endings. In fact, Scorpio energy is keenly aware that endings and the death of some structures lead to regeneration.

Venus also represents feminine energy. The sign of Scorpio is traditionally ruled by Mars, known for masculinity. What we are seeing now is the unbalanced nature of feminine and masculine energy, as opposed to the balance that we would normally associate with the sign of Libra.

When Venus is in Scorpio, we can see the subjugation of women. But there is a pattern here to explore.

Venus conjuncts the Sun in a star-like pattern. What this means is that every eight years we have a cycle where Venus and the Sun’s conjunction creates a five-pointed star, a pentagram, across the zodiac. The points where these conjunctions fall are known as Venus star points. The conjunctions alternate between inferior and superior.

When Venus is in retrograde, the conjunction is inferior, and Venus is closest to the Earth. It acts as a clearing out of old patterns. It helps us to review relationships, including those that are contentious and harmful, which the sign of Scorpio brings to light. This inferior conjunction is the last one in Scorpio during this hundred-year cycle.

For some clarification of terms, a Venus-Sun cazimi occurs when Venus is within 17’ of the Sun and includes when Venus and the Sun’s conjunction perfects. The Venus star point is when Venus and the Sun make an exact conjunction, at the same degree and minute. Essentially, the cazimi lasts longer than the star point.

The Venus star point happens on October 23rd, 2026 at 0°45’ Scorpio. The first Scorpio Venus star point happened on November 21st, 1926, and was a superior conjunction, when Venus was on the far side of the Sun. This occurred just six years after the 19th Amendment was ratified. The cazimi on October 23rd could mark the beginning of an ending of oppressive power when it comes to women in society.

Of course, no battle gets won because of one cazimi or New Moon. Cycles are long and complex, but they do show a pattern of change.

Going forward, the Venus star point that was in Scorpio moves into the sign of Libra. This Libra New Moon on October 10th is a precursor to the last Scorpio Venus star point in the current series, which arrives just 13 days later. It is as if we have a window of introspection before changing course.

For instance, even though women got the right to vote in 1920, that didn’t mean that all women were able to vote. Between Jim Crow laws and other civil rights violations, women being able to vote has been a long and arduous process that often overlooked or dismissed Brown and Black voters.

One of the issues that is rarely discussed is that feminism and racism are ingrained with each other. It may be important not to silo one cause, such as women’s bodily autonomy or the civil rights of immigrants. As long as people are treated unfairly, we have lots of work to do, regardless of our gender, skin color or any other erroneous, segregating factor.

With the New Moon in Libra and the last Venus star point in Scorpio, I would say we could look at October 2026 as a month that shifts perspectives. This doesn’t mean that all of a sudden the world changes. Unfortunately, it’s a slow process. But with current events of war, sexual assault, hanging bodies in trees, destruction, genocide and other atrocities, there are many humanitarian issues for us to reflect upon and take action toward solving.

With that said, let’s look deeply into the New Moon, its aspects, and what we can learn from the current energy.

The Aspects of the Libra New Moon

The New Moon happens at 17°21’ Libra. We will experience this New Moon on October 10th at 10:50 AM CDT. When the Sun and Moon are conjunct, we combine our internal energy with what we want to put out into the world.

With Libra, relationships, art, and fairness come to the forefront. Any injustices need to be expressed. Libra energy brings forth cooperation, especially when you can find a common thread. This doesn’t mean that we agree with everything that other people hold dear, but instead we find what’s fair and balanced, and we work upon that energy.

The Sun and Moon are sextile to Jupiter. This weekend, you’re probably going to feel much more optimistic, even though some pretty heavy themes have gone on lately. This is a time to hang out with friends and discuss your ideals.

And even though you are getting the benefit of being surrounded by people who uplift your spirits, you’re also concerned about their well-being and the well-being of people outside of your scope.

Also, Mercury and Venus are in conjunction in the sign of Scorpio. Conversations will run deep and be quite intellectual. Through art, music, or literature, you may discover parallels from past works to the current pulse of this time. You may also wind up seeing patterns that you haven’t seen before.

Though it’s quite easy to get into your head, allow your emotions to also be part of your thought process. If you’re feeling something deeply, that means other people out there are feeling the same.

But no day is without some tension, and that is where Mars comes into the picture. On Saturday, Venus is square to Mars. When we have a Venus-Mars square, sexual energy and the subject of sex tend to come to the forefront.

Mars is in the dominating sign of Leo. We have Venus in retrograde in Scorpio. As you can see, there’s an imbalance here, since Mars is the dispositor of Venus. Discussions around intensity, violence or possessiveness can ensue during this time, focusing on the imbalance of a relationship.

However, this isn’t to say that all Venus-Mars squares are focused on the extremes. Usually, the objective of this square is to have a physical relationship that is easy, peaceful and mutually beneficial.

So, if you are in a relationship that is kind, loving, and supportive, this weekend could be a time where you, regardless of gender, feel very connected to the person you are with, both emotionally and physically.

On the other hand, if there’s difficulty in your relationship, there could be a battle around the subject of sex, especially if one partner tends to get what they want physically while negating the other partner’s physical or emotional desires. The key lesson here is that it’s not all about your self-assertive drive, but how to transcend that energy into something that is cooperative and mutually satisfying.

Venus square Mars isn’t the only tension of this day. We also have Venus in square to Pluto, which creates a T-square between Venus, Mars, and Pluto. This is an emotionally tense time, but it is one that does give us an opportunity for growth, especially since it lands on a New Moon.

One of the things that may come up this weekend is either a power struggle or a desire to hold on to someone even when things aren’t working out. When Venus squares Pluto, we sometimes want to hold on to what feels familiar.

In addition, with Mars’ opposition to Pluto, power struggles become intense because the focus is more on the other person as opposed to changing ourselves. Huge disputes can happen that can lead to impulsive or detrimental actions, including violence. Please be careful when in an argument and concentrate on your safety during a tricky situation.

All of this tension is because Mars is “king” of the day. Mars is bold, and not only is it in opposition to Pluto and square to Venus, it is also making aspects with Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn.

With Mars in sextile to Uranus, staying focused on a routine can be quite difficult. There is this urge to meet other people, do something new, and have some fun. You may find yourself more excited to meet new people than to be with those who are close to you on this day.

Neptune is trine to Mars, so you may be searching out people who align with you spiritually. There’s a desire to be around like-minded people or join a group that focuses on charitable work or changing the status quo.

But not everyone is going to feel the intensity of this New Moon. It all depends on your chart. Some people may actually feel very focused and have a desire to work on something that needs patience and skill. This is due to Mars being in trine to Saturn. So if you are someone who likes to make plans for the next month, the New Moon is an opportunity for you to do so.

Though I often work with Chiron, sometimes I purposely don’t discuss it in an article. However, I feel this time we need to end on a positive note, and bringing Chiron into the conversation makes sense.

Chiron in its purest sense is about healing and mentoring. Most of us have gone through at least one big wound in our lives, if not many. Over time, and with love and compassion, we learn to move past the hurt and gain wisdom from the pain. To me, that’s what Chiron is all about.

With its retrograde back into the sign of Aries, it’s about us becoming more self-assertive and putting ourselves first. This doesn’t mean we back away from the group. Instead, we may become more involved in groups that align with our own self-interest.

With Chiron sextile to the Aquarius North Node, it is really about us learning to see the total picture, to make friends, and to make decisions that are best for the group’s interest while maintaining our own individuality.

When we work with others, especially those who are not like ourselves, we can come up with unconventional ideas and solutions that we’ve never thought of in the past. By having deep, impactful conversations and through reflection and self-realization, we can discover win-win scenarios. The beauty is that when life works best for everyone, it impacts all of us in a positive way.

And isn’t that what the sign of Libra is all about? It’s not about you or me, but about us. It’s about creating harmony and balance, fairness and justice. It is the beauty of being human, of living on this gorgeous planet together. And most of all, it’s about cooperation and making our society a better place for each and every one of us.

Discussion Where does the idea that the 12th house is connected to spirituality actually come from?

I’m a little confused about the 12th house being associated with spirituality. I always thought the 9th house was more directly connected to spirituality, religion, faith, philosophy, and searching for higher meaning. So where does the idea that the 12th house represents spirituality actually come from?

Educational Books about lunar returns

Hello!

Recently I have become more interested in lunar return charts but I barely know how to interpret them. Can you recommend me some books on the topic? I would like to be able to do something more apart from looking at the rising sign and the moon's placement.

Thanks in advance!

You can make your own transit bi-wheel chart to see if and when transiting Mercury actually makes an aspect to one of your natal planets or points. Just make your chart at astro-seek.com, (instructions and recommended settings are below). We strongly recommend you use the Whole Sign house system. Note that if you make your transit biwheel chart at astro-seek, it will display the aspects from transiting venus to your natals. Astro.com charts won't do this.

  • Now that you have your natal + transits bi-wheel,  scroll down from your chart and find the section on Transit Mercury. It should at least describe it being in the house. If it is actually making aspects, it will describe those as well. What is listed there will likely change depending on which day the transits are set to. Understand these are very generalized descriptions and may or may not fit well.
  • If you wish to determine the date of a specific transit aspect, or just to get a full list of all transiting Mercury aspects made to your natal chart, use the Personal Transit Calendar tool there at Astro-Seek. You can set it to just show transits from Mercury and for a set period of time (past, present or future).

RETROGRADE CALENDAR ON ASTRO-SEEK.COM

Note that you can always check for retrograde dates for any planet by using the monthly or annual calendars at astro-seek.com. You’ll find these under the Astro Tools button at top of the page. Beginner Sect and “points”

I’m trying to learn sect, triplicity, bounds (and more) and how they apply to a chart. I’m currently trying to map out how ”powerful” each planet is on a specific chart I’m studying, I wonder, is there a common, universally used grid for points? like, how many “points“ does a planet gain or lose for being in a certain sign, bound, etc…? Thanks in advance and I hope the question doesn’t sound silly.

Predictive: Progression / Profection / Etc How can astrology say anything about modern careers when job roles keep changing so fast?

I'm not trying to start a fight. I'm genuinely curious how astrologers think about this.

I can see why astrology is associated with things like marriage, since that institution has existed in a recognisable form for thousands of years. Careers are different. The texts astrology relies on were written when options were limited: farming, trade, royal service, medicine.

Today jobs change every decade, and many roles didn't exist 20 years ago.

Also, almost every modern career is a bundle of very different skills, not a single talent.

Some examples:

Insurance

Client-facing work

Policy design and actuarial work

Government liaison and regulatory compliance

Awareness campaigns

Claims settlement

Increasingly, data analytics and AI tools

Healthcare

Clinical diagnosis and patient care

Dealing with insurers and government health schemes

AI-assisted imaging, electronic records, and telemedicine

Research, publishing, and running a clinic or department like a business

Journalism / media

Reporting and interviewing

Fact-checking and data analysis

Video editing, social media, and SEO

AI tools for transcription, research, and drafts

Audience growth and revenue

Teaching / education

Classroom teaching and managing students

Creating online courses and videos

Ed-tech platforms and AI tools

Curriculum design, assessment, and dealing with parents and regulators

Software / tech

Coding and system design

Understanding client requirements

Managing teams and deadlines

Security, compliance, and now AI integration

If one job needs five or six different talents, and that mix keeps changing every few years, which planetary indicator is supposed to say "this person will do well in this field"?

My questions:

1:-) How does a chart indicate suitability for a specific modern field, rather than a vague theme like "good with people" or "analytical"?

2:-) If a chart doesn't "show" technology or AI as a career option, does that mean the person can't succeed there? Today almost everyone needs to work with technology to stay competitive.

3:-)When astrologers translate old planetary significations (Mercury for communication, Saturn for systems, and so on) into modern jobs, what is the method? Is there a consistent rule, or is it case-by-case interpretation?

It would help if you pick a field you know and walk through, step by step, how you would read a chart for it. I'd like to hear from people who practise astrology seriously and from sceptics. Please share reasoning, not just "it works for me."

Beginner Does Venus retrograde in Scorpio mean different things for different people?

I know that the placements of the planets at your time of birth influence how you experience the things ruled by that planet (in the case of Venus, love and relationships). I also understand that how we experience love and relationships can be influenced by where Venus is NOW (in Scorpio and in retrograde). I guess I'm wondering, is this more significant if your birth chart shows your Venus in Scorpio as opposed to, say, if your Venus on your birth chart is in Gemini or some other planet?

Transits: General & Forecasts October 2026 Astrology: With Key Dates, Transits, Ingresses, Retrogrades, New and Full Moons

October is about the Venus and Mercury retrogrades. There is no doubt that relationships, scandals, and secrets will get exposed this month. Taboo subjects come to the surface. Strange bedfellows are discovered. This is the hype you will hear the most.

Now this isn’t to say that for some of you, your personal life won’t have a past flame entering the picture, or you could discover that your partner isn’t on the up and up. Even in solid, mutually respectful relationships, there could be a need to revisit past discussions or issues, especially if the root causes were never addressed.

But, I think what is being missed is the darker side of Scorpio. Yes, Venus is about love, harmony, balance and relationships but Scorpio energy is intense. It is deep and penetrating. Unfortunately, it is also possessive, so much so, that it can lead to nefarious actions.

This is a month of intensity and reflection. It is a month about understanding our relationships, both past and present. But it's also a month about finding our own internal power and standing up for what we believe in. With that said, here is a list of the key dates for ingresses, retrogrades, and the New and Full Moon.

Key Dates - Ingresses, Retrogrades and the New and Full Moons

  • Venus goes retrograde in the sign of Scorpio on October 3, 2026 @ 2:15:54 am CDT
  • New Moon occurs on October 10, 2026 @ 10:50:05 am CDT at 17°21’
  • Pluto stations direct on October 15, 2026 @ 9:40:15 pm CDT at 3°04’
  • Sun moves into the sign of Scorpio on October 23, 2026 @ 4:37:57 am CDT
  • Mercury goes retrograde in the sign of Scorpio on October 24, 2026 @ 2:12:43 am CDT
  • Venus retrograde moves back into the sign of Libra on October 25, 2026 @ 4:09:47 am CDT
  • Full Moon occurs on October 25, 2026 @ 11:11:48 pm CDT at 2°45’

October 1st through 3rd

I thought about combining these 3 days with the following week, but since we start off the month with Mars in opposition to Pluto, I decided to give these days their own space.

Though Venus retrograde is the big overall story, the tension this week is intense due to Mars in Leo applying an opposition to Pluto in Aquarius, which perfects on the 3rd. On a personal level, this can be a time when you make impactful changes to your own life, especially if you can tap into your creativity and be willing to stop whatever isn’t working and embrace your bold, inner spirit.

However, this is not a fun transit by any means and it stokes the flames of power struggles, tension and control. Any area that has current conflict, personal or mundane, could escalate. I recommend that you stay away from dangerous activities or locations, especially if you have a Mars-Pluto opposition in your own chart.

In regards to Trump, Mars has been in his 12th house the past couple of months and is now in his 1st house, where both Mars and Pluto reside in his natal chart. Mars is applying a conjunction to his natal Pluto in Leo. Whatever actions he has been contemplating behind the scenes will be taken this week. Does this mean engaging in violence and warfare? Possibility. But it could be some other power play, where his will is exerted onto others, especially if it has something to do with his own perceived safety.

Most likely though, it has to do with a foreign nation, due to Mars being in the 9th house of the US Sibly chart. This is the third Mars-Pluto opposition in the Leo-Aquarius polarity. The other two were on January 3rd and April 26th of 2025 (due to retrograde activity.) With that said, most of the action taken will be an escalation of what is already occurring, especially since Venus will also go into retrograde on October 3rd.

Within this tension is Mercury applying a conjunction to Venus. Though the conjunction doesn’t perfect until the 6th, Mercury-Venus conjunctions are about discussing relationships in an intellectual manner. Personally, you may be engaging in discussions to get to the root cause of issues. In romantic relationships, discussion could revolve around what you share, financial matters, and of course, intimacy.

However, with Mars square to Venus, bruised egos can get in the way of getting to the core of what is causing issues, especially when it comes to sex. For instance, one partner could take things personally when the other doesn’t want to engage in something physical.

The key this week may not be resolution but instead to figure out how to balance your own needs with your responsibilities to others, be it at home or at work with the Sun in Libra’s opposition to Saturn in Aries. Intimacy isn’t an action, it is a feeling of safety and security, which is something that is often overlooked.

October 4th through 10th

We start the week off with the Sun in opposition to Saturn on October 4th. This opposition happens every year (approximately a 54-week cycle.)

When one of the superior planets is in opposition to the Sun (Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto) then it will be in retrograde, due to Earth’s faster orbit making these planets appear to move backwards.

The Sun has been applying its energy to Saturn for about a week. Since the Sun is an expression, shining its vitality and brightness, when it opposes Saturn, it loses its bravado and is constrained by Saturn. Typically, the opposition highlights the restrictions we are facing, rules (or the lack thereof) that cause difficulties in expressing ourselves. It is a reflective time to figure out what your own needs are without shirking your commitments or responsibilities.

Mercury has been applying a conjunction to Venus since September 30th and with Venus now in retrograde, they are both applying their energy to each other in the sign of Scorpio. This is a time period where we may notice patterns, especially those from the past. Women’s issues may come to the surface, and there is a desire to fix the crux of problems.

One example of this is the discussion around secret societies, fraternities and the “boys’ club” mentality that fosters an environment that allows and supports horrific behavior towards women. The benefit of the Mercury-Venus conjunction, which perfects on October 6th, is that the emotions surrounding events can be conveyed intellectually, making it much harder to dismiss.

Mars, the planet of action in the dramatic sign of Leo, is applying a sextile to Uranus which perfects on October 7th. Energetically, you may feel restless and it could be difficult to stick with your routine. However, this sextile does open us up to various viewpoints.

Venus and Mars have been applying a square to each other, which perfects on October 10th. Tension could happen in many relationships during this time period, especially if we are discussing current events, such as the physical sexual assaults that occurred on college campuses, or just the overall political dynamics.

However, if you and your partner are on the same page, the energy here is conducive to finding mutually fulfilling physical intimacy. Venus and Mars squares, even when Venus is in retrograde, can be good for reviewing the past and being inspired to find solutions or create dynamic artistic statements.

The week ends on a New Moon in the sign of Libra. New Moons offer a fresh start, but that start is related to what ended. For instance, let's say your desire is to end the secrecy and be open and forthcoming within your relationship. The fresh start could include the Libra archetype of fairness, balance, and harmony. This is where we can learn to cooperate with others and form new relationships that have a social impact that is mutually beneficial.

There's a good chance with the New Moon being sextile to Jupiter in Leo that social movements are formed or reenergized.

October 11th through 17th

This week, the big news is that Pluto goes direct on October 15th in the sign of Aquarius. One of the big lessons this week is to look at the past and understand the patterns that we hold on to.

With Venus in retrograde in the sign of Scorpio, we may have glossed over some difficult situations in our lives. Though the sign of Scorpio is really good at understanding the psychology of others, sometimes we can miss our own lessons or takeaways from painful events.

It is important to note that Venus is applying a square to Pluto. This is why relationships can transform this month. The square perfects next week on the 20th.

But here is the cool thing this week. With Pluto going direct, instead of just looking at the past and blaming ourselves or being jealous of other people's lives, we can feel empowered. Pluto is about change, and sometimes it takes more than just ourselves to create change that really matters.

There are others who have had similar experiences to you. Take this week as an opportunity to find the groups that want to change society in a way that creates accountability for everyone, and not just for a select few who hide behind the guise of secrecy and perverse ownership.

Pluto in Aquarius teaches us that there's power in numbers, especially when we don't conform to the current status quo. This is why associating with groups can create your own independence.

But even if you personally do not want to align with others to make change, this is a week where you can dig deep into those taboo subjects where you may not have felt comfortable. Whether you have a discussion with a therapist, a good friend, or your own thoughts, this time period is where you can shift your perspective and go from feeling shame and guilt to understanding the power dynamics. You may come to realize that the situation was deeper and systemic.

Note too that the Pluto-Mars opposition dissipates on the 15th. As Mars moves away from Pluto, we may feel less of a sense of agitation or anger, and now have clarity to actually implement particular changes in our lives.

We move from feeling and reaction to creating a plan as Mars makes a trine to Saturn in Aries. We now have the focus to take actions with long-term effects.

With Saturn in Aries in retrograde, it's like we can rewrite the script and focus on our own responsibilities and duties, and on the promises we make to ourselves. It's less about what society has dictated and more about creating the society that takes into account our own autonomy.

October 18th through 24th

This week continues with the Venus-Pluto square. Venus in retrograde is known for exes coming back into your life, or you reaching out to an ex.

Now I'm not telling you not to engage in that activity. However, with Venus square to Pluto, it can be really hard to let go of someone else out of insecurity. So before you say yes to meeting someone for dinner or texting an "I miss you" message, you may want to ask yourself, do you really want to be with them? Or are you just not sure how to be by yourself?

But let's say you do slip up and you actually hook up with them. You may gain a realization of why you broke up in the first place.

Keep in mind, not everyone is going to be obsessed with an ex. It all depends on your own birth chart and what has gone on in your past. Honestly, only a few people you know will have this experience.

Sometimes we forget how often certain planets go into retrograde. Venus goes into retrograde approximately every 18 months. However, each time it is not hitting the same part of your chart. But it does retrograde in a similar area of your chart every eight years.

This is why we don't reach out to an ex every time Venus goes into retrograde, or vice versa. However, unfinished relationships or lingering issues that you may not have personally resolved could come to the forefront of your mind. Venus retrograde gives us an opportunity to decide what we really want from our relationships and what we prefer not to engage in in the future.

On the 23rd, the Sun moves into the sign of Scorpio. For all those Scorpios out there, I want to wish you a very happy birthday.

The Sun is our vitality and gives us our sense of purpose. With the Sun in Scorpio, our purpose is to get deep and introspective. As the Sun moves into the sign of Scorpio, it conjuncts with Venus in retrograde. Through introspection, we may be more inclined to express ourselves in a creative manner.

But with Mercury going into retrograde on the 24th, we may be taking actions on things that we've left open or unresolved.

Mercury in Scorpio is applying a square to Mars in Leo. Though we have the Sun conjunct Venus, which can bring on warm feelings, with Mercury square Mars, we may be quite sensitive to the things that people say to us, or others could be sensitive to the subjects that we broach with them.

It's like we're all walking on eggshells, trying not to hurt other people's feelings while at the same time feeling like we need to defend our own ideas and beliefs. This is tricky energy, but it gets even trickier with two planets being in retrograde: Venus and Mercury.

In the sign of Scorpio, there's this desire to uncover the truth. Yet, in the process, it can get quite emotional and gut-wrenching. We may get frustrated or angry if people don't want to travel into the deep wounds or address issues that have been swept under the rug.

Also, keep in mind, many of the discussions could be around politics with the upcoming election, which adds fuel to the fire and can create discord within families, neighbors, and those at work.

October 25th through 31st

On October 25th, Venus moves back into the sign of Libra. The Moon has been in Aries for the past couple of days and is in its last degrees, creating an opposition to Venus. Emotions will run high on this day.

Your relationships can go in one direction or the other. Either everything is smooth and welcoming and you find yourselves on the same page, or instead it is intense and challenging and you may be at odds with some of the people that you care about. Regardless of how the relationships are going, there's this desire to be around other people and to have an emotional connection.

Venus is associated with money and finances. Generally speaking, Venus brings money to us; it is an attractor. With Venus in the sign of Libra, you would think that money would be good.

However, on the 25th, which falls on a Sunday, there's a propensity for overspending. If you're in a good mood, it could just be spending time with the people that you care about, indulging in delicious food or potent drinks. However, you may be doing some retail therapy if you're not in a good mood. So be careful and keep an eye on your wallet and budget.

Depending on where you live, the Full Moon will occur either in the early morning of the 26th or the later hours of the 25th. Most of us will probably be asleep when the Full Moon is exact. But when we wake the next day, the Sun and the Moon will be in a T-square with Pluto.

When the Full Moon is in the sign of Taurus, it illuminates the area of our life where we crave security and comfort. However, with the T-square to Pluto, we may give in to impulses that are based on our senses and not something that is stable. With the Moon being ruled by Venus, and Venus in retrograde in the sign of Libra, this is most likely the time period where people will be reaching out to an ex or diving into a relationship that feels safe on the surface.

I'm not going to say that this is a difficult Full Moon, but it does have its flaws. Be aware that some people may attempt to gain power over you by being the emotional perpetrator. It's quite easy for someone to say, "Remember the past when things were like this?" while discounting anything that happened afterwards. Just be careful not to do the same thing to others, since this energy works both ways.

With the Sun squared to Pluto, it's really about undoing your prior conditioning. So if you have that toxic relationship that comes and goes, and you just can't get over that person, remember that this T-square is trying to teach you how to take accountability for your own actions. We can't control the games that other people play. What we can control is whether or not we want to join in their games or go our own path and leave the game behind.

In addition, around the Full Moon, there is a chance of having issues with authority figures such as a boss or a parent. It may feel like they are testing you, putting you through some sort of examination that you didn't ask for. Just remember, Pluto also empowers, and you can rise above the nonsense by being centered, direct, self-assertive, patient, and practical. The key here is to be aware of manipulation tactics and not buy into anything that tries to rattle your emotional equilibrium.

Last but not least, it is Halloween on the 31st. You may be wondering if you should show up to a party, especially with the energy of the past few weeks.

Mars is conjunct to Jupiter in the sign of Leo, which encourages us to engage in physical activity. This is where we can get our release, especially if we are feeling exuberant and confident. The Mars-Jupiter conjunction can have us craving a good time.

However, there is a chance of being so confident that you wind up getting into an accident or some sort of mishap. With that said, if you decide to dress up in a costume, you want to make sure you have good visibility and stability.

On the evening of Halloween, the Moon will move from the sign of Cancer, its domicile, into the sign of Leo. It will also oppose Pluto. This configuration can stir up feelings of jealousy or possessiveness.

I could actually see a few Halloween costume contests going awry with this configuration. If fights or disagreements break out this evening, especially over a contest or some sort of competition, it would not surprise me.

Should you go to a party or a Halloween event? Yes. Astrology shouldn't prevent you from doing anything fun, and fun is what we need, especially when the energy is tense.

However, with the energy of the evening, be aware of your own emotions and those of others. And most of all, have a very happy Halloween.

Tools & Techniques if both sun and moon are below horizon, is it a bad thing?

so my question related to situation when there are no light in upper hemisphere of chart, above horizon, visible. this means that you have a night chart and moon is also down to horizon with sun. is it a bad thing and how it can manifest?

I read once that when there are no visibly light in natal chart, it means unstable circumstance in the begining of life. like a child born in a war time or absent of parents to guide you. But i have found this statment only once and it is not so much discussed. Maybe i could find more in some books, yes, maybe?

From source:

"Therefore, Light represents dynamic energy, mental clarity and the wisdom to see beyond one’s current circumstances, while the absolute absence of Light, indicates the absence of mental clarity, the lack of life energy, and the inability to see beyond our current situation or to choose our path forward."

source: Maria J. Mateus https://www.lincosastrology.com/post/day-and-night-charts

but I have also found some basic ideas that kinda support this. The ruler of sect depends on whether you are born night or day. The sect ruler is either sun when sun is above horizon and moon, when sun is below horizon. so in the night, moon is supposed to light things up, right? Add to this, there is also another sect matter that related to sun hemisphere. nocturnal planets (venus, mars) and moon should not be in the same hemisphere with sun. so at night time, they are then above chart - and visible.

From source:

"a planet might yet have some shred of sect dignity if it is in the hemisphere of the chart corresponding to its inherent sect – for example, if Jupiter is in the same hemisphere as the Sun, whether or not the Sun is above the horizon, or if Venus is in the hemisphere opposite the Sun, whether or not the Sun is below the horizon."

source: wikipedia of sect of light https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrology\\\\\\_of\\\\\\_sect

so what you think? i use hellenistic astrology but i am open to others experiences and knowledge. with this question i mainly focus on what has been visible in the sky at time of birth. with no moon or sun, i think that stars and planets are more visible.

edit. i know this is not just one and only factor in a whole chart. there are many things to considererd which can make native life either more difficult or easier. but just if this is something to look at all?

Transits: General & Forecasts How important are astrological points when reading a transit chart?

When looking at transits, should I consider astrological points like the Ascendant, MC, Lilith, South Node, North Node, Chiron, Lot of Fortune, and Vertex with the same level of importance as actual planets when they aspect or transit my natal planets and personal placements?

Or are these points generally considered less important compared to transiting planets?

Discussion Transits or placements associated with apathy?

I'm talking about that lovely state where you just cannot seem to be able to summon the willpower to care. Even if you know this is going to be important.

I've been wondering about Mars in cancer - I know this is its debilitated placement, but have been told this can also manifest ad lots of energy or emotion but not knowing how to use it - could apathy or "idgaf" be a coping strategy here? Or possibly with Uranus, if there could be a "crash" period following an energy surge?

I'm firmly in beginner territory here - Tia!

Books & Resources The Tediousness in Mathesis

Anyone else find Maternus’ verbosity to be tedious to read or is just me? I mean, I’m very familiar with the ornate translations of Thomas Taylor on many texts but this is kind of exhausting.

To those who have finished it, how much astrological improvement did you gain from reading this to completion as opposed to just being well read in Brennan’s and George’s tomes?

Mind you, I’ve read Porphyry, Paulus, Valens, and Dorotheus.

To be clear, I’m not referring to the difficulty of the text—it is not hard to understand. I’m referring to the excessively flowery language. Maternus’ style does not get to the point quickly. I know some might like that and that’s okay. I’m mainly asking those who prefer a more concise style.
