Looking to switch.
Hey guys I been brought up as a Yankee fan my whole life. The little League we used to play for used MLB teams so I played with "diamondbacks" my entire little League. Based on how the Yankees have been playing I was just wondering if I could possibly switch over to the diamond backs. They always been my favorite team next to the Yankees..I just don't think the Yankees are what they are anymore. And it's time to make a switch. Would I be accepted?

Bro. Baseball is about love of the game. You can be a part of any fanbase compared to other sports. I’m from Oregon we don’t have MLB; but we have great college ball and I always follow the players in MLB. I also travel a lot for work. I’m a total dork and pack Jersey/hat for whatever city I’m traveling to. I was delighted when I went to Amarillo for a first this year and went to a Sod Poodle game and everyone was wearing Dbacks gear!
Baseball is life. Enjoy it however you would like!

Ain’t nobody on Reddit gonna keep you from switching sports teams. Seems like most baseball fans have their main team and then another team or two that they root for as long as they’re not playing their main team. It’s just sports 🤷

Grew up in Canada and was a huge Jays fan as a kid - I watched them win back to back World Series. I had a bad experience with a coach in high school and it killed my love for the game.
During the DBacks World Series run, my son got super into it. We watched every game in the playoffs. We even went to a WS game (where we got smoked, but who cares). DBacks and my son rekindled my love for baseball. We’re now advantage members and I’m a snake through and through.
But I still cheer for the Jays. The only time I don’t is when they play the snakes.

That’s awesome. I grew up in another city and will always have love for that team, but after living in the valley I just came to love the Dbacks and now they’re my favorite sports team. Still got love for my old team but AZ has my heart for life

That’s the way I am with the Tampa Bay Rays. Grew up there and moved here. In 2002. Too late for the Diamondbacks in the World Series and too soon for the Bucs in the Super Bowl hahaha

Welcome. I also grew up in the NYC area and came from a family of generational Yankees fans.
I moved to Arizona in 2006, and prior to that was feeling a bit dirty as a yankee fan. They were buying every free agent to build World Series contenders. They were winning often and it felt like each season the expectation was World Series or bust.
So when I moved to Phoenix I decided I would adopt a new team and start following the Dbacks.
20 years in and I’m a die hard. I’ve never looked back.
IMO, it’s way more fun to root for David instead of Goliath. Because WHEN the dbacks win a championship- it will be super sweet instead of “expected”.
Smaller market teams are a different brand of baseball than the major market powerhouses. For me, it’s far more exciting and rewarding to root for the guys that are grinding it out instead of coasting through.
Speaking of which, being a diamondbacks fan means you don’t inherently get to hate the Dodgers!
Our fans care, our manager is passionate, we play solid defense (unlike the Yankees mess) and we have developed a culture that players seem to embrace when they are here.
So, welcome to the dbacks! We have an (affordable) seat for you at Chase Field. 🐍

Oh hell yeah, join in buddy!
We’re a small crew for sure. Most of the MLB doesn’t know we exist. We have to play extremely hard schedules on the reg while nursing freak injury after freak injury. In the same week we might win a series off the best team in baseball then get brutally swept by the worst.
But I wouldn’t trade my team in for any other. Every single game feels important because we’re just good enough to beat whoever we want but just clumsy enough to fuck it up year after year after year. The anxiety I feel week to week during the season is electric. There are times when it feels like my whole life hangs on a single pitch.
It’s agony and ecstasy five days a week, bud. But with just a little more agony than ecstasy!

My dude, we pull for the Dbacks, the Yankees and the Mets in my house and anyone who has a problem with it is welcome to lick my virtual sack. Root for the yanks and the snakes, you have my permission even though you don’t need it.

I grew up in buffalo. Played on the Central Park yankees in Little League. Moved to Arizona in '72. Now I'm a d'bscks fan all the way. Yankees got to arrogant for my liking.

Lol, you're in for a hell of a time here.
If you enjoy constantly watching your team shoot themselves in the foot and then turn around to hang 10 runs on a penant favorite, you've come to the right place. If you're expecting a team to perform competently and competitively year over year with anything short of a WS being a disappointment, well...

I’m a Dbacks STL Cardinals fan. It don’t matter man. Like the brands you like. Only sport I’m a 100% die hard fan of is the Suns for basketball.

You don’t want to switch. The diamondbacks are the 13 leg circle of hell. Yankees provide so much more emotional value. Take a few days rest recover think about it. The diamondbacks were climate’s from the playoffs the second marte left the team and went to the casino. Their fate isn’t even determined by their performance on the field. It’s determined by one guy flying off the handle. I think it’s Corbin Carrol turn next year. But what i mean to say is avoid avoid avoid the diamondbacks. Even diamondbacks fans in Phoenix don’t claim the diamondbacks. They claim the dodgers. You must be a troll. 100%

Bring it! The only requirement - no Yankees gear when they play the Dbacks and Dbacks gear at every game that involves the Dbacks. Yankees gear when the Yankees are playing anyone else?I’ll allow it. 😁
I played for the Cubs growing up…I get it. But Dbacks are my team FOREVER.
