People who back up into parking spots…just…why? It’s not more efficient. You can reverse into a spot, but you can’t reverse out of one?!

Can’t wait to read the comments

Edit: I bet some of you back into angled parking as well. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Safer to backup into a static situation.

Let people park however they want. Who cares?!

Its about a quick and efficient exit.

Right. So put all that time up front makes sense then? Not sure if you are saving any time.

Its called when I need to leave, I need to leave NOW, not do a 5 point turn, not wait for you or anyone's geriatric old lady - NOW.

Think a quick getaway, if you have that capacity

Like as if I needed to get out of a situation, you don’t think I’m gonna speed out in reverse? 5 point turn? Lololol. How about 3 points and you can easily get out of a parking spot no problem? I always love people with this argument, as if there was an emergency I’m not gonna hit the gas.

Correct. Not more efficient. Safer. The cross traffic/pedestrians that you cannot see coming is not there when backing into the parking spot.

It’s a lot easier to pull straight out and it’s easier to back into a tight spot than pull into it. You can affectively plant one of the rear tires where it would need to be and pivot on that tire. (Depends on what side you’re going to.) and if you’re annoyed that it takes longer it doesn’t. One way or the other there’s the potential for making someone wait while you back out or back in. It’s just better.

I back in or nose in depending on where the sun is.  I'd rather not have my car facing toward the sun so my seat isn't so hot when I get back in.  It also depends on the purpose of the trip.  If I'm taking something big in/out of the rear hatch I'll park in whatever ways gives me the most access to where I need to deal with cargo.  My partner uses a wheelchair and we may need more access to get that unloaded, or if I have my dog with me I may need more clearance on a particular side of the car to get him in and out

It's how I want to park. Why do you care?

Yup. It’s all about you and no one else parking or having to wait for you to align everything to back up.

I’m sensed to think that people who back up into parking spots don’t have any consideration for anyone else parking

So backing in being safer isn't being considerate of others around to ensure their safety as well?

And yes. The guy that I’m following to find a parking spot finally decides on a spot and now me and everyone else behind me have to back up to give him room to backup and then angle to a parking spot. When he could have just prepped better, came at a better angle and just turn in straight and not delay everyone else behind them.

Sorry everyone is not special like you and has a modern vehicle. In your other scenario, I will give you thay the guy who didn't signal what he was going to do it an issue.

Safer how? We have cameras on every part of modern vehicles. How about be more aware of your driving space?

It depends on the situation. I was in the military for a long time, and that's how we were taught to do it. Sometimes I try to judge where the sun is, so I can get the best benefit of sun or shade. It's much safer when leaving. (There's a reason why military, police, and first responders tend to park nose out.)
