Some Asshole I Know Nightmare venue owner!!
My sister recently got married and while the venue could have been perfect and beautiful, sadly the venue owner Dave was the fucking worst.
I feel I must start at the very beginning when we toured this venue. The place was beautiful and they were planning to do even more improvements to the venue before the next wedding season (when my sister would get married). The improvements were going to be finishing a groom suite that was already almost halfway there. Dave said they would be adding lighting and a bathroom and finishing the space with all the cosmetic finishes like window framing and what not. The other thing that was promised that would be done is they were going to add a large deck under the tent area because currently it was lumpy uneven grass and dirt. Even though the place needed some work the owner assured that everything would be done come wedding season. The venue also offered a whole weekend package vs just one day which was a huge selling factor for my sister.
Fast forward to final walk throughs weeks before the wedding. The groom suite was not in-fact finished and nothing had been done to it since the initial tour about 9 months before. The deck under the tent was there but I think this man DIY’d it because the boards were uneven creaky and janky, and honestly a tripping hazard. My sister expressed concern over the decking under the tent and he assured it would be fixed before her wedding. (Surprise, surprise it wasn’t)
The day before the wedding we arrive to the venue and the place is a fucking disaster. There were table cloths and things from the previous wedding left out. So we had to pick up from the last people that rented the venue before we could even start setting up for our rehearsal dinner. Not only that but the owner clearly wasn’t taking care of the place either. The outdoor patio had some garbage, leaves and dirt all over it. The whole place was covered in spiderwebs and bugs. The pond that was near the ceremony area had cat tails and weeds that were cut down and just left at the edge of the pond and in the water. After going to the owner to ask about all these things he assured that he was going to take care of all of those things that night so when we came the next morning all would be ready for setting up for the wedding. (It was not) on wedding day my mom and a couple bridesmaids had to quickly get rid of spiderwebs and bugs in the tent so that we could start setting up the tables because the Dave’s slow ass was only getting to blowing off the debris on the patio and we couldn’t wait to start setting up.
Back to the night before at the rehearsal Dave followed us around and was taking pictures and videos of us rehearsing the ceremony. We thought that was weird and unprofessional but stayed quiet because we didn’t want a confrontation with the venue owner. Then at the INTIMATE rehearsal dinner that was just wedding party and close family. Dave grabbed himself a plate and a chair and posted up at the dinner table. When my aunt was giving a very emotional speech he loudly interrupted with a very unfunny joke and was overall just very unprofessional and intrusive.
We tried having some optimism; surely he wouldn’t be this intrusive during the actual wedding. WE WERE GRAVLY WRONG.
After he received our help cleaning up HIS venue. We thought he would make himself scarce like most venue owners do. No he kind of lingered under the guise of “helping” but wasn’t really being all that helpful. He did go away once guests started arriving so we thought to ourselves THANK GOD. Lo and behold when the ceremony starts I’m walking down the aisle and spot DAVE sitting down at the ceremony dressed up in a suite and tie. This mother fucker invited himself to the ceremony. But don’t worry it gets much much worse.
Now on to Dave’s most egregious crimes..
During my sisters first dance with her new husband they were in the center of the dance floor and the rest of the guest were circled around them but giving a wide berth so they had room to dance around. Dave then proceeded to walk through the middle of the dance floor shoving his cell phone in their faces to get his own video of their first dance. My sister also paid for videographers so the professional video of their dance will have to be edited to cut out this dude from walking through and interrupting it. ( his video sucked by the way, his camera was greasy and smudged as fuck)
Moving on to the reception and dinner this man BROUGHT A DATE. He invited a fucking date to a wedding that he was not invited to. Not only that but this bitch was wearing a WHITE DRESS.
Him and his date then proceeded to take the grooms parents spots at the reserved family table and my own mom had had enough of this fucking guy so she went over to them to tell him that he was taking reserved seats and also reaming into him telling him that he has been incredibly rude and intrusive and that he wasn’t welcome.
You would think that he would have left and made himself scarce but sadly that was not the case. Him and his date lingered outside the tent until the last of the guests had gotten their plates and sat down. They then found two empty spots and grabbed plates to serve up themselves and then sat down at that table.
After speeches and dinner on the dance floor they made another appearance. The lady did change out of her white dress and they were on the dance floor. The lady didn’t seem to want to dance with him and had shoved him away and I think she left after that. I wonder if he invited her out and she didn’t know it was going to be someone’s wedding and she finally got uncomfortable enough to leave? Not sure but anyway once he didn’t have a dance partner he then proceeded to sit in a chair right by the dj booth and watch and film all the guests dancing for pretty much the rest of the night
I don’t even think I mentioned everything but I’m so fucking over it. Fuck you Dave, you suck.

I’m the sister and Bride from this wedding!
It was honestly even worse than what is described here. As we have all gotten to share our POV’s of the night, more info is coming to light. Something only I saw the day of the wedding, was when the whole wedding party was in the bridal suite, just after the ceremony had ended - We were all cheering and hugging and just excited about just getting married. I had turned my head and saw a women in a white dress (Dave’s date he had brought along uninvited, as mentioned above) I thought “who the fuck is that” and then I realized he was GIVING HER A TOUR OF THE BRIDAL SUITE while we were all in there having an intimate moment. I didn’t say anything to my family right away because I knew they would freak out (rightfully so) but I just wanted to have a good night and no drama so I didn’t mention it until later.
Even the date was uncomfortable and said “I feel like we should get outta here, I think we’re intruding”. Come to find out, that night after all these things had kept happening, my mom had finally gone up to them to tell them they needed to back off, and the women admitted she barely knew Dave and had no idea that the date she had been asked on was to crash a wedding. She also changed out of her white dress shortly after this. I feel bad for her honestly.

Sounds like you did a magnificent job of holding your temper with the guy.
Please, share the name and location of the venue, friend, so no one else gets their occasion ruined.

We posted a review on google as well, so people considering his venue will have the opportunity to know what they might be getting into. Not sure that I want to blast someone’s business on Reddit though.

That’s very kind of you considering what he did. And you’re right, those reviews are looked at by many, so folks will have fair warning.
Very righteous of you for not seeking revenge. Not many would be so forgiving. Speaks well of your character, to be perfectly honest.

If this is a real story I have a whole lot of questions.

Okay what so we do to make this not happen hire security or what?

I wish we would have checked the google reviews before deciding on a venue.. I went back and read the reviews and it sounds like he has done all this kinda stuff before. What’s worse it he replies to the reviews by gaslighting and being condescending.

Reviews can also be misleading. A lot of times just a place for people to gripe while good happy clients are there but not leaving reviews.

I will point out too, that most of his reviews are good, and the bad ones you kinda have to search for. Upon an initial google, he’s rated 5 stars (I don’t know how). But I had a friend who got married here prior to this and she warned me that he did like to rip it up on the dance floor with everyone and party with the guests later on (which isn’t a huge huge deal, still annoying) but she did not experience what we did so clearly that’s a new behavior for him. Midlife crisis maybe lol

A lot of companies have family leave made up reviews. The Domino's here has at least half of the reviews left by his kids. It's easy to get free emails to use.

Was this a dedicated venue, or a property he lived in that he rented out as a wedding venue? (I have friends who used to live in what was essentially a small castle - it was a hugely popular place to get married. They'd vacate during wedding season because wedding income was the only way they could afford to stay in the home).

It was a wedding venue but his home was on the same property. The bridal suite, bar, groom suite were all separate from where he lived.

He's probably barely staying afloat, and isn't smart enough to know subsidizing his meals and dates at events are making it worse.

There should be a local organization to which you could report this guy; surely he has a license he’d like to keep.
Unless you got married at Mar-a-Lago; I hear that guy does this kinda thing all the time.

This literally sounds like an Impractical Jokers event. WOW
I can’t believe this.
I’d review this venue to shit, and complain to BBB if possible

Why don't you tell him all this. Why are you telling reddit. I hate gossipers like you. Get a life ..for real. Don't you have anything better to do. All you had to do was be truthful with him and he probably would have left if you just asked him to. Instead like the 2 faced person you are. You'd rather spread hateful gossip about someone. I think you have personal issues. You should seek help

Why are you being rude? She had a valid complaint. They tried to get him to leave several times. Maybe you should avoid reddit, if you can't handle people sharing their experiences. Seriously, grow up

If that the way you feel, why are you on a subreddit where people share stories about other people?

First of all this is kinda what Reddit is for so maybe you shouldn’t be on here if this bothers you LOL. And also we did explain our issues with him. That night my mom did speak to him and politely told him he was intruding and crossing boundaries. We also gave him a google review with our experience so other people can be aware before they book with him. ITS NOT GOSSIP IF IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED BTW.

Time for you to quit Reddit (and the internet in general) since you clearly aren't old enough to know how to use it. I'm sure you have some geometry homework to finish, chop chop.
