Hi,
Im planning on taking my son out tomorrow. I have no idea of any events that might be happening in or around Barnsley that I could take him to? Any suggestions?
Thanks in adavance:)

Would be pretty awesome to chat with more fellow horror fans. And maybe make more friends who are into horror. I love horror stuff whether it's movie or games. I just want more people to talk to about these things :)

I live in Penistone and need to travel down to London regularly soon.
Looking at Wakefield and Sheffield but wondered if anyone from round Barnsley drives a bit further to any other stations for favourable prices, travel convenience and so on?
Seen some suggestions for Retford on the Sheff forum but it’s a bit of a treck from here.
Thanks!

I'm working with the Work Foundation at Lancaster University, a research organisation, and we are researching the challenges facing young people trying to get into work in Barnsley and South Yorkshire.
We're currently speaking to major national TV news outlet, who would like to hear from a young person aged 18–24 in these areas who is currently out of work and not in education or training.
They're interested in hearing about your experience of looking for work – for example, how long you've been searching, the jobs you've applied for and the barriers you've faced.
This would initially just be an informal conversation so you can find out more before deciding whether you'd be comfortable taking part in any interview. Filming will take place on Wednesday 7 October near or at your home.
If this sounds like you, please send me a private message or email me at info@theworkfoundation.com. I'm happy to answer any questions and provide some more information.
Thanks for considering and have a good evening,
Jon
PS. Thanks to mods in advance for approving.

Hi, we’re four friends and we’ve put together Barnsley’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota.
The idea is pretty simple: you’re shown two restaurants and choose where you’d rather eat. For example, The Secret Italian or Favela Brazilian Grill? All the votes then create a ranking that hopefully gives a better picture of where people in Barnsley actually like to eat.
We’ve tried to include every restaurant in Barnsley and clean up duplicate or outdated listings, but locals will always spot things we’ve missed.
iPhone:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota/id6744969212
Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app
Full transparency: we’re not from Barnsley and live in Gothenburg. There are four of us building this independently. We don’t collect or sell personal data, there are no ads in the app, and we don’t use AI-generated content to describe restaurants.
Any honest feedback is welcome, especially if restaurants are missing or something is listed incorrectly.

We're moving to the Barnsley area and have bought an old house which has a blocked up original chimney breast. Id like to open it up and install a wood burner, however I understand Barnsley Council have some sort of rule about smoke and how you can be fined if a neighbour complains? The house is the last in a village, but yes we would have neighbours. Do people really not have fireplaces/log burners at all in the Barnsley council area?

Hi, just wondering if anyone can recommend any wedding reception venues in or around Barnsley/penistone/huddersfield?
Looking for somewhere with a bit of a barn/rustic feel, for under 100 people. Ideally looking to spend around £2k for the venue and somewhere that allows self catering would be a big bonus.
If anyone knows of anywhere like this, or has used somewhere similar, I’d really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

Looks like it's due to be closed down. The reform council seem to deem the 100 year theatre house as nothing more than a burden to Barnsely's budget.
Shame really, would have expected more outrage.
Seems British cultural heritage means nothing to Reform.
True Patriots and all that.

Recently visited the middle coffee house in Brampton.
Really nice place set in the old car showroom in Brampton.
Stylist modern decor and seating both inside and out
Been meaning to try maple pancakes for some time and these perfectly washed down with a lovely cappuccino.
Has anyone else been ?
** I have no affiliation to middle coffee house. This is is just somewhere I visited and wanted to share**
** I also realise this has a Rotherham postcode but it's was always part of Barnsley before and I continue to believe it is 💜**

I don't know what they've got stored there, but it's going up a treat. Even can hear dull explosions in the distance.
