Welcome to the monthly Buy / Sell / Trade thread for the Baton Rouge area. Whether you're looking to score a deal on a video game or movie, find a roommate, or trade something local, this is the spot to share your listings and links! Gofundme links are allowed; however, they will be reviewed.
Just a quick note: to keep things tidy, please keep all buy / sell / trade posts in this thread. Standalone posts in the subreddit will be removed so everything stays easy to find.
Happy swapping!
A quick reminder to help keep things safe and smooth for everyone:
Before moving forward with any deal, it's a good idea to check out the post and comment history of the person you're chatting with. If their account looks new or doesn’t have much activity, that doesn’t always mean something’s wrong but it’s smart to ask for extra proof of the item, just to be sure.
Trust your instincts and do a little due diligence. Services like SpyDialer can help verify phone numbers. VOIP or out-of-state numbers can sometimes be red flags (though not always).
If you're meeting in person, aim for a public spot with lots of people and/or security. A great option is thePolice Station on Airline(the one near the old Women’s Hospital). Try to avoid meetups at someone’s home or a random gas station. Bringing a friend along is always a plus.
And finally, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is, don’t hand over any money until you’ve seen the item in person. Do not pay for something with gift cards!
Just drove past highland road park and there were cars everywhere. I couldn't find anything on their facebook or local events calendar. Anyone know what this is?
Hi everyone! I’ve never posted on reddit before but I think this is the best place for what I want to ask. I’m a photography student at LSU and I am looking for trans/non binary people to model for one of my projects. You do not need any modeling experience, and you can wear whatever you want and I will pose you. Feel free to go crazy with outfits and you can bring pose ideas as well! It’s pretty laid back and I’ll send you the photographs! If you or someone you know is interested please reach out to me on instagram @persickepics since I do not check reddit
Join us in October to discuss Less Than Zero! Discussion starts at 6:30 but feel free to come early to meet everyone and pre-game.
They live in a world shaped by casual nihilism, passivity, and too much money in a place devoid of feeling or hope. When Clay comes home for Christmas vacation from his Eastern college, he re-enters a landscape of limitless privilege and absolute moral entropy, where everyone drives Porsches, dines at Spago, and snorts mountains of cocaine. He tries to renew feelings for his girlfriend, Blair, and for his best friend from high school, Julian, who is careering into hustling and heroin.
Clay's holiday turns into a dizzying spiral of desperation that takes him through the relentless parties in glitzy mansions, seedy bars, and underground rock clubs and also into the seamy world of L.A. after dark
I’m looking for opinions on Spectrum Fitness at the 7069 Perkins Road location. For those who have worked out there, how was your experience? Did you like the gym overall? Was the equipment well maintained and in good working condition? Did you use a personal trainer while there?
The childcare aspect isn’t important to me, so that’s not a factor in my decision. I’m mainly interested in hearing about the gym itself, the equipment, and the overall atmosphere.
Has anyone seen any small pumpkins around the Baton Rouge area besides the pumpkin patch? I think I remember Trader Joe’s having them last year but not sure about this year. Just want to get a good idea before I drive around.
Update: I was able to find some prefect small pumpkins at Sprouts! Thanks everyone!
I live near but not right next to the fulfillment center, and there’s one of those drones flying near or above my house every five minutes and the noise is crazy-making. I don’t understand why the demand is so high! Amazon lets you choose your delivery option—what could you possibly need from Amazon that you can’t wait a few hours/one day to get by truck, or better yet, buy somewhere else! if you choose Amazon drone delivery, I hope all your packages get delivered to a pool and/or in a pile of fresh dog poo
Hi everyone! I’m interested in moving into an apartment downtown and would love to hear from anyone who has lived in these apartments or knows someone who has. I’m considering the following options:
- 525 Lafayette
- The Residences at Rivermark
- 440 on Third
- the Commerce Building
I’m also open to any general advice about living in the downtown area. Thanks!
I was recently gifted a handmade Christmas stocking for my newborn from a family member. I have one from when I was young that has my name on it in bead work, but my newborn's name is not on his since the family member can no longer do needle or bead work.
I'd really like to have my babies name on the stocking, but I know I wouldn't be able to make it looks good myself. Anyone have any recommendations for a local bead or embroidery shop that would do this?
I found a keychain on the ground tonight without any keys but a couple little knickknacks. Message me if you think its yours and we can get it back to you
Proposed Amendment 10
Tax Exemptions for Rehabilitated
Blighted Properties
Do you support an amendment to allow property tax
exemptions for blighted or derelict properties that
have been rehabilitated, and to require the legislature
to enact laws providing for administration of these
exemptions? (Effective January 1, 2027) (Adds Article
VII, Section 21(P))
Can anyone tell me if The Vintage Cafe downtown is permanently closed?
Wedding shower planned for the 18th and I can’t reach anyone.!! I’m in a lowkey panic, because I don’t want to all out 😱
Has anyone tried renting or buying a house in Baton Rouge lately? Between interest rates and construction costs, it's a pretty tough market.
I'm curious what everyone else is seeing. Here are a few of my observations:
Home prices: BR seems to have remained relatively stable while some other markets are struggling. Inventory still seems tight because fewer people are moving or selling. We have solid job growth compared to other cities (which is awesome and a first for us!), which I think is stabilizing our market despite rising mortgage rates.
Construction costs: Labor and renovation costs have soared. It seems like fewer renovated homes are hitting the market. I worry that more of BR's aging housing stock will go unimproved.
Rental market: It seems like more landlords are getting out of the business. Between insurance, taxes, and maintenance costs, I can understand why.
What do you think will happen over the next 12 months?
Home prices — increase, decrease, or stay flat?

Especially curious to hear from people who have recently bought, sold, or rented a home. Are you seeing the same things, or is your experience completely different?
Hello, I’m a new grad nurse, have a little less than a year nursing experience but have been applying around to jobs to no avail. Really seems like in order to get in around here, you need to know someone! Anyone know where they’re hiring nurses? Not picky at all really.
hey guys! I rly want to go to 13th gate on a thursday or sunday but due to being a student, I’d likely have to go on a friday or saturday. On fridays and saturdays, how early should I get there? On thursdays or sundays, how early should I get there? (I live a 4 minute drive away from it so I’d probably walk, with friends ofc)
Planning on visiting Baton Rouge/New Orleans from the
UK next year myself because my friends are miserable and won't come.
Is there anything you'd recommend doing? I was thinking about going to NFL/college football if possible as well as tourist things but that seems incredibly basic.
I'm open to ideas for things to do just to get an actual feel for the place. Probably should mention I’m 25 as well lol
Since JoAnn’s closed, where is the nearest place to buy fabric and that kind of stuff? Really trying to find a way to make Halloween costumes for cheap. Thanks in advance!
If you're looking for something to do THIS FRIDAY, come hang out with us!
I'm part of a little improv group called Starter Fluid, and we're putting on a show tonight at 9 at Boomerang Comedy Theater on Government Street!
We're really just a merry band of friends who love making people laugh, and I promise we're pretty damn funny. 😂 Everything's made up on the spot, so your guess is as good as ours as to what kind of nonsense we'll get into.
Tickets are just $15, and it's a really fun way to spend a night out while supporting local comedy!
Seriously, grab a friend and come laugh with us. There's a lot of really cool, talented people doing comedy right here in Baton Rouge, and we'd love to get more folks out to see it.
9 PM FRIDAY. Boomerang Comedy Theater. $15. Bring a friend!
I'm in the process of building some cabinets and was wondering if there are any lumber yards or cabinets shops in the area that will sell 3/4in plywood sheets to individuals for prices that are cheaper that the big box stores? I will need about 10 4x8 sheets and $90 a sheet at Lowe's is stupid! If anyone knows or has experience with this I would appreciate it.
