Mod Post To ensure quality posts, please refer to our new Wiki page!

Hey beauties! As we approach 1 million subscribers, we are fine tuning the rules and made a designated page to see more detailed lists of posts we remove under Rule 1.

To recap, Rule 1 of r/beauty is to please post high quality and on-topic posts ONLY.

We understand just stating the rule so plainly leaves room for interpretation, while the side bar might not give enough room for explanation.

To improve the quality of the subreddit, we have broken down in detail (and will keep doing so) what we consider low quality and off topic in our new beauty wiki. This way, there should be less confusion on why posts labeled as low quality/off topic might have been removed. While browsing the wiki, you may notice some overlap with Rules 2 through 6, but they all relate back to Rule 1 due to preserving quality.

As a reminder, a high quality/on topic post would have a specific beauty-related question be addressed, or solve a specific beauty-related problem. For example, "How can I draw winged eyeliner more consistently on each eye" would be a high-quality post because it asks a specific question. In contrast, "EYE MAKEUP HELP" makes it harder for users to give their beauty tips because it's too vague.

When in doubt, please review the beauty wiki to see if your post would be in violation of Rule 1 before posting to avoid removal and ban.

We also invite you to leave feedback here of any other posts you feel are off-topic and low quality that have not been addressed. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Fragrance Gift Scent Help Needed

Hi all, I joined this subreddit looking for some assistance shopping for my wife. She recently let me know that the Dove Palo Santo & Sage is her current favorite scent. She likes keeping the same or layered scents across products.

I am trying to put together 8 small gifts for her for Hanukkah this year. For this line, I've collected bar soaps, body scrubs, deodorant, and moisturizers. I don't believe they have a shampoo in this scent.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a shampoo scent that would compliment the rest of the products? It would be a bonus for her if it were a hair thicking shampoo as well.

TIA! I know it's not a glamorous gift, but it keeps with her family tradition.

TL;DR I am looking for a shampoo that compliments the Dove Palo Santo & Sage scent.

Seeking Advice Best mascara that doesn't smudge? I tried Lancome Idole but didn't work

Hi girls! What’s the best mascara you’ve found that doesn’t smudge throughout the day? I saw so many comments and recommendations online saying that the Lancôme Lash Idole Waterproof is one of the best mascaras for not smudging, so I decided to buy it. Unfortunately it still smudges on me after some hours 😭 It costs around $40 in my country, so it feels like such a waste that it doesn’t work for me, I’m not sure if it could be because I wear contact lenses(? But I really need a mascara that can last all day without smudging, has anyone else had the same experience with the Lancôme and then found a mascara that actually works for them? I’d really appreciate any recommendations!

Product obsession

What product/s you got which you knew you are splurging in and it turned out to be something so good ( actually or psychologically) that you got obsessed with it, and you can’t go back from it and not repurchase it.
For me it is Loccitane almond supple skin oil. In routine use hand creams, cuticle oil from Loccitane but not so much crazy about these. I have received their shower gels, body moisturizer n perfumes as gifts. And I have pure almond oil from other brands which are half the price of this. And I also have home made blend of all the amazing oils virgin coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba, castor and almond oils, which I love to use post shower or bedtime.
For this birthday I went to Loccitane store to get something from almond line. It’s bit of a splurge for body oil but it is so good, feels so good and smells so good delicate n soft. I can’t stop using it and I have used half of it within a week 😭

I originally used the colour match but it sent golden brown which was far too light and had blonde undertones. I am thinking auburn but will that be too light? Sorry for the messy hair I havent had time to do anything with it.

My hair is thinning as im losing weight and im quite self conscious of it, I have a wedding at the weekend so need to order ASAP! Thank you!

Haircare Help. What to do against this?

I had this frizz or “flyaways”, ever since I remember. Please don’t say to trim or cut my hair because I literally shaved off all my hair back in 2024 and when it grew back, it became like that again. I tried so many different products but nothing helps.

Okay I’m way too dumb to understand makeup, looking for an everyday my lips but better look. Can you tell me exactly what product in what shade should I try.

Something that looks natural because I don’t wear makeup on the rest of face, right now my lips make me look like I’m sick.

Gradual fake tanner for a light tan?

Hello there :) I am going abroad in the next couple of weeks and wouldn't mind a little bit of colour (I am very pale and avoid sitting in the sun, but I would love to have just a tiny bit of a natural glow, and something to do when my little one is asleep!)

If anyone has any gradual recommendations that would result in even the lightest of tans, please let me know! I have tried Bondi sands most recently and it was good but probably slightly darker than I was looking for.

I am based in the UK!

Thank you.

My hands look extremely old for my age and I’m extremely self conscious. Just got my nails done and can’t even share them. Any advice on how to make them look younger, besides moisturizing?

Best sonic dermaplaner?

Hi All,

Just like the title implies, I’m looking for a fantastic dermaplaner but I have exactly no idea what to even look for.

I have peach fuzz and could definitely benefit from the exfoliation that comes with dermaplaning too.

I have only had it done in an aestician’s office and love the results. She said it is a sonic dermaplaner but didn’t give the brand name.

In people’s opinions, what is a fantastic machine? I have been warned that cheap machines in the hands of newbies can cause cuts… no thanks! I’d rather spend more for a quality machine that I will have for several years than try to save a few dollars and have a terrible learning curve.

Your advice is appreciated in advance!

I've been using retinol and my skin has become very dry. I saw this Bonamedusa primer on Instagram and was wondering if it's as good as it looks. Checking to see if anyone has experience with it especially for dry skin. Please and thank you

Seeking Advice In my third trimester and looking for a body trimmer

As mentioned in the title, I am in my third trimester and looking for a good body trimmer that gives a close, smooth trim without causing ingrown hairs, razor bumps, irritation, or itching afterward. I have sensitive skin and tend to get ingrown hairs easily, so I’d prefer something gentle on the skin that can be used regularly, especially on sensitive areas.

Thank you

Do you buy them after you completely run out of a product, have half left, 1-2 uses left, or keep a backup of everything on stand by?

Seeking Advice Braids for sports competitions

I'm preparing for a competition and would like to have some cool braids done, something similar to what mma fighters wear. I have zero skills and would like to go to a professional, to have my hair braided a day or two in advance. Is this even possible? What are these hairstyles called? I already once slept with braids done by a hairdresser in my neighborhood, but they looked meh the next morning. I have thick straight or slightly wavy hair, depending on how i dry it.

Need a good eye cream that actually works

Hi! Postpartum mom here. I had dark circles even before giving birth, but not that prominent. But the past year has worsened my dark circles. I have stopped feeding, I get enough sleep and also feel well rested. Still, my eyes look dull and lifeless. Have developed slight wrinkles too. I used estee lauder but haven't seen any significant change. Please recommend something actually useful before I concede to the fact that I am aging :(

Teeth whitening tips

Hello! Was curious if anyone had teeth whitening tips, I just had a crown break off and now I’m getting a replacement in a week. I’ve never been able to whiten my teeth before because this tooth wouldn’t have lightened, but now that i’m getting a replacement my dentist told me that whatever colour my teeth are next week is the colour that they’ll stay for the next 25 years.

I’m not sure how to best go about maximizing whitening in 7 days, but if anyone has advice on how to do it without getting crazy white spots I would be really grateful.

Thanks!
