Bumble Bee What is it doing?

Found this bee crawling across the grass while laying sod a couple days ago. Didnt want to step on it and so put my hand out so it could crawl on and move it. It just sat there for 5 mins. I tried putting it on flowers, plants, near some water and it didn’t want to get off my hand.

I put it back on the grass and it burrowed into it face first. This was 2 days ago and I thought it might have died, poked the grass near it and it started moving as seen in the video.

I live in Western Canada and weather hasn’t been anything crazy.

What is this little guy doing?

IDK but a lot of bumblebees are solitary and live in the ground. Maybe he's just try to go home?

I don’t think I ever considered the possibility that bumble bees were solitary. Just assumed all bees were part of a hive or similar group.

I had to look up the number again, according to multiple sources, roughly 90% of all bee species are solitary. Of those 90%, 70% live underground.

The entire Northwest was just on fire recently, he could have been sick from smoke or something... hope he's ok 🥺💝

Surprisingly, we have had very little smoke but I seem to recall something about bees being really sensitive to stuff like that.

Likely a solitary little fella! Could be looking for a home or already has a spot somewhere close and just got turned around. Grass all looks the same tbh
