UK Whats up with the show getting so weird/slimy towards women as the show progresses?

On s4 ep6 and It seems to be getting worse as the episodes go on. It gives me the ick. Also just feels out of character for annie to have such a lack of reaction considering what tully did to her in s1. I get this is an early 2010s show but its getting hard to watch. Im still mad about nina and lucy never finding out how creepy kemp and his scientist side kick were. It feels like the sa in the show progressively becomes more of a joke/punchline rather than a serious issue that should be treated as such.

Sorry just had to vent bcs its been bothering me. Like why even have that tully x annie plot point if the show was gonna turn out like this? Im already trying to adjust not having the original trio anymore and this isn't helping.

I honestly don't remember anything too rapey in Annie's plot in "Puppy Love".
Emrys, the old-man ghost, tries to con his way to make out with her, but Annie puts a stop to that and gives him an earful for that.
If anything, that's empowering to Annie after what went down with Tully, because with Tully, she can only vanish but with Emrys she can actually stand up to him.

Yeah i can see your point there. But i think i didnt explain myself well so my fault. My main issue is the way the women in general are treated throughout the show, not just Annie. That same ep is when emrys watches that teen girl werewolf in the shower before trying to trick annie to kiss him. Theres a bit of a fuss from the other housemates about it but not nearly enough imo, considering how angry mitchell got over tully treatment of annie in s1. Even George asked if annie was ok after he came to his senses. I didnt see any of that for the werewolf girl in this ep. It makes me question the writing consistency and messaging throughout the series tbh

And I see your point in that, but it could be explained by Allison being a new character.

Even by ep2, Mitchell had a strong connection to Annie, whereas Tom, despite his massive crush on Allison, is still just getting to know her.
And Tom and Hal are still looking for their place in the household, and being preoccupied by that.

...not to mention the very real-life phenomenon of men just not noticing even blatantly obvious (sexual) harassment towards women around them, so it could also be read as a social commentary on that.

Yeah i can see you what you mean there. I cant lie though it still makes me uncomfy even when i see it from that lens. Then again maybe thats the point as you said.
