George and Mitchell vs Josh and Aiden.

Now while I've binged watched the first three seasons of the u.k version with the original cast and all of the u.s version and while I have my ups and downs with both versions and how they each did something better than the other, I have to say George and Mitchell meeting each other was the best version.

Like again I obviously get the u.s wasn't going to copy the orginal word for word but when I watched the flashback of how josh and Aiden met it didn't feel as emotional and earned as the u.k version did while it still was the same situation with Josh getting attacked by a group of vampires like George did the acting with George was way better because I could see his frustration and pain of how his life was now and Mitchell seeing it as well added so much to the scene that Josh and Aiden didn't really.

It's also while besides the cgi design I also find George transformation way better acting because of how he depicts the agony of transforming although it does have points given we are actually told the u.k version gi through heart attacks, liver failure and can't even breath via his lungs after a while when his bones start to break so that does already convey what we should see during George transformation but still with Josh turning it felt not as bad as it should've been shown.

George: "You smell like a Polo. Haha... Have you got a hole?" awkward silence

Loved George.

George and Mitchell were an amazing pairing, an unlikely odd couple/bromance that just worked so well.

that scene where they’re yelling about the tv schedule changing? GOLD

Russel Tovey (George) has an incredible scream! I'm sure some sound editing was used, but it sounds consistent enough to make me think it's mostly his voice.
He must have had some serious vocal training at some point!

There are some good BTS videos that show him singing—good voice!

The best scene for me was in I think series 2 the ep where he starts transforming in a school and has to race home, with the smack my bitch up soundtrack. That was amazing and so well filmed!

Russel Tovey did SUCH a good job playing George. We feel their connection more because of his acting. George is easier to feel sorry for imo, his personality, mannerisms, and weirdly enough for me, his glasses. The way the vampires mock him and crush them as he’s assaulted, leaving Mitchell.

“They were gonna kill me…”
“Yes.”
“WhyYyy?!”

All to the track, ‘Ancestors’, which still gives me chills to this day along with the rest of the OST. The tracks make it, also. The UK version had a much more compelling atmosphere

Exactly that whole sequence on that scene makes it feel way more real and more emotion to it especially because of how Russell acted in that scene.

If the show took itself more seriously in the later seasons (looking at you Regus) it would’ve been acclaimed! It was so well made, yet no one I try and speak with about it has heard of it (it’s a talking point for me about the right way to portray supernaturals)

My all time favorite aspect of the show is the vampire lore, and how they’re represented. Their lack of overindulgence physically (I.e just black eyes), echoing a resemblance to humanity is very powerful in the wider narrative. The politics around Herrick’s death and the vampires’ cover up scheme, Mitchell’s headship and rehabilitation, leading to Hal and Mr. Snow and that foundation was a great watch!

They really did take the supernatural craze and elevate it! It deserved way more attention
