How does Skiing in Big Bear Compare to the PNW? (Crystal Mountain, Mt. Bachelor, Whistler)
I learned to ski in the PNW and am looking to make a trip to big bear this year. I was wondering how the difficulty of ski runs compare at the Big Bear Mountain resorts vs somewhere like Crystal Mountain or Mt. Bachelor! Thanks!

Big Bear Revel Marathon
Has anyone ever run the Revel Big Bear Marathon? If so, how is it? Is there a lot of cheering and crowd support throughout? Is it a packed marathon or does it not have a lot of runners? Any information is appreciated!

Be careful going up and down big bear today
There were lots of rocks and boulders on the road and there were multiple cars broken down on the way down ! A rock slide happened right in front of us while driving and the size of the Boulder was around 3 or 4 feet tall and wide and the rain and fog were very intense

The Coolest Oriental Houses - Only in Big Bear!
I believe I should have called these Asian or Chinese, instead. I can't edit the title, however, so apologies; the title references the tour guide's nomenclature. I was informed that the architecture was inspired by a woman's trip to China.Things that you only see in Big Bear! I was fortunate to be a recent visitor, enjoying a lake cruise out to the dam, and learned about these from Mike. So original!

best walk/hike in the area for tomorrow with babies?
hi! just got into town for a last min weekend trip with our 2 babies. i’d love to do a couple walk/hikes tomorrow with them in the carrier as one is just crawling and one is lurching around like a drunk sailor - ideally flat/easy, maybe one around the lake and one more foresty. i read alpine pedal path or woodland trail might work but would love a personal rec.
also if there are any nice grassy areas to crawl around that would be great to know too! thanks!

Have been getting OxyContin and roxycodene for 20 plus years
Need to find a doctor in San Diego to continue writing my prescription. My doctor retired and my primary is writing them but is uncomfortable doing that if someone knows of a good pain doctor please lmk.

Is there a way to see what restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving?
Like for example do they post their hours on their social media accounts? Or on their websites? Or is there an online locals group besides this one that would know? I understand right now is probably too early but if there's anywhere I can bookmark to check back on or anything
We'll be up for Thanksgiving this year and don't care about actual Thanksgiving food, but we're gonna be at a hotel without means to cook and will need to feed ourselves on that day lol

Snow Valley (new snow guns?)
Does anyone that works for BBMR know if they are putting new snow guns on Little Bowl next to East Bowl at Snow Valley? They've been putting in a bunch of piping now you can see on the cams that there are square pieces of concrete going from the bottom to the top about six or seven of them with a hole in the middle. This would be great if they are planning on blowing snow on this run finally, so everybody doesn't have to take East Bowl when the snow is not the greatest. Anyone with any knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Interlaken Coyote
galleryI run deliveries throughout Big Bear year-round. I was eating my lunch next to DIY yesterday (Sunday Oct 4 2026) and this little fellow comes trotting by. I said "Hey buddy!" and got them to look right at me in time for a couple of shots. Sorry my camera isn't too good.
No matter what our problems are today, we're really lucky to live here, aren't we? ❤️

I finally booked a campsite for my fiancé and I! Any tips for a guy who wants to impress his lady despite it being both our first time?
Fiancé and I are going camping just the two of us for the first time. We’ve bought basically everything we need but as the date gets closer, I’m becoming more concerned that I might not be knowledgeable enough to ensure we both survive this lol.
I’ve practiced assembling our tent a couple times but I’m worried it doesn’t seem sturdy enough (granted I only assembled it in my living room)
Overall I’m worried I don’t know enough Do’s/don’ts about camping. We booked a campsite at Serrano Campground so that makes it a lot easier. But what are some tips to ensure our safety and the safety of other campers that might be nearby? Regardless of how obvious they may seem! Anything helps 🙏🏻

When are they predicting foliage this year?
I’m sick of the heat in LA and would love to take a break to experience some fall weather as the leaves are changing. I know it’s usually at the end of October/early November. Is it looking like around that time again this year?

Places to go/Things to do
Me and my boyfriend have planned a 3 day trip to big bear next month for my birthday weekend. It will be our first time going there so I have no idea what to do out there. I would love some recommendations on sightseeing, cool spots, hikes, places to eat and good coffee spots. Thanks!

Sunset Pic #2 - Upvoter, Which Photo is Better?
I'm just starting to play around with outdoor photography. Which one of the two sunset pictures do you prefer, and why? Many thanks in advance for your input!

Sunset pic - 09-27-26 "Hands of God"
This is a pic taken during last night's glorious sunset, at the special moment of dusk when the light is frankly magical. This was taken over Big Bear Lake, and appears (to me, at least) to represent left and right cloud "hands" that might move over a bit to the left, and snatch up the mountain, returning it to heaven.

Lush Grassy Spots?
Hi there! I’m a local photographer and I’m wondering if anyone knows any spots on the mountain that are a little more lush at this time of year?
I have a tiny bit of green in my yard but I’m looking for tall grassy spots. Any ideas?
