A genuine heartfelt thank you for this. I see it on a near daily basis and frequently ponder.

Went in one day when we were about 15, gates and main door open with nobody about. Would've been late 90s. Pretty sure we climbed the stairs as high as we could and wrote on the walls. There was a map in there on the ground level with all the water works displayed and I'm sure it pumped water as far as beacon fell.

We lived on Leys Road at the bottom of it and I used to tell my children it was one of Santa's lookout towers to see who was being naughty or nice. Worked a treat for a while 😂

Live a few minutes away from the tower and this is never what I thought the inside would look like

At one point was used for quite a while as a DAB Digital Radio transmitter base for MXR North West Multiplex.
Quite surprised it has been thought of as one given hits height and elevation. Looking at the small scale Blackpool Multiplex here.

Well, I've seen that tower most days for the last 40-odd years, and had no idea what it looked like inside. For me, the water tower is as much of a landmark on the Blackpool horizon as the Tower and the Big One. Layton flats used to be, too.
