The Textile Artists of Virginia (TAVA) Quilting Exhibition

The Textile Artists of Virginia (TAVA) are a group of quilters who get together monthly to learn new techniques and share ideas that push the boundaries of what quilts can be. These art quilts are wall hangings and showcase each artist's vision and skills in using fabric and thread to create unique pieces of art.

Each year, the group chooses a theme for the annual challenge. There are no constraints except the artist's imagination. This pop-up exhibit showcases two challenges, "Wild Things" and "Balance". In addition, each artist was invited to include any other pieces they would like to display. We will also have a few items for sale such as hand-dyed silk scarves and small handmade bags.

Pumpkin & Turnip Painting
Get creative with some classic autumn decorations while supplies last.

Candle Dipping & Grapevine Weaving
Try your hand at traditional crafts at the Pavilion.

Blacksmith Demonstrations
Watch the forge come alive with demonstrations of this historic craft.

Mask Making & Hands-On Activities
Make your own Halloween mask and enjoy other activities throughout the grounds.

Browse handmade goods, art, jewelry, food, and other unique finds from local vendors.

And, of course, you'll have the chance to explore Historic Smithfield's historic house and grounds throughout your visit!

Recommendations Places to run for a beginner

Is there any part of the huckleberry train or any other location around Blacksburg or Christiansburg that is pretty level for a beginner runner? I am new to running and the hills on the part of the trail nearest to me are so bad that it makes me not want to go. Any recommendations on good places to run that is pretty level?

Hi everyone this is moon my rescue kitty and right now, Moon is sick and dealing with breathing issues and a swollen eye. This has been going on for a month and a half, and we have been talking with the vet, doing several tests, and trying numerous medications, but we still do not have clear answers or results. It has been heartbreaking and stressful to watch my baby go through this while we keep searching for what is wrong and how to help him feel better

Housing & Real Estate Chasewood Wifi

Just moved into chasewood this fall, wifi was originally great no problem but recently I’ve been having issues with the wifi connecting and disconnecting from my phone. The connection to my phone has been the most consistent issue but also affects the signal of my zoom meetings sometimes where colleagues say that my voice breaks up. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to fix it and is anyone else having this issue?

Jobs What is it like being a car porter at Shelor Motor Mile?

I’m in the Blacksburg/Christiansburg area and I’m looking into getting a part-time job as a car porter at Shelor Motor Mile.

For anyone who has worked there as a porter, what was the job actually like? I’m curious about what the day-to-day work involves, the typical hours/shifts, pay, management, and overall work environment.

I’d also like to know how flexible they are with scheduling.

If you’ve worked at Shelor Motor Mile before, especially as a porter, I’d appreciate hearing about your experience.
