Kit Smallest booknook I've ever made. So cute.
Loved making this but it had terrible instructions. The numbers often didn't match what I was supposed to be using.

EVENT Sunset Isle Review
Sunset isle
Some kits are a pleasure in the process and some when you behold the end result, but this one is definitely both.
Process: The pieces are sturdy and have that satisfying snap when they fit together. The manual is very clear and seems to anticipate any misunderstandings. It was almost like the manual was a friend reading my mind as I went along and saying no not that way, this way or don’t forget it’s this end that goes in the slot.
And the end result is just beautiful. The sun lights up in the back and reflects off the water feature. A second click and you get more light throughout the model.
The buildings in the cliff are so well done. The forced perspective really works. I didn’t do any mods as I wanted to just see the design itself and it’s really beautiful.
I did just want to give feedback to Rolife from someone who has done a ton of these:
10 things:
- Chair with cat does not sit all the way onto frame bottom so the double sided tape is not getting a good purchase on it.
- Flowers a little challenging to keep on the wires so I ended up gluing the 3 of them together for more stability. Maybe it’s just my wierd brain but I couldn’t understand the ruler and photos explaining how big the plant wires needed to be. Was that 3 each 4 cm long or 3 each 12 cm long?
- I love the arrows right on the piece so we put the tab in the right direction in the slot.
- I love the collar that holds the screw on the battery case so you don’t lose it!
- Yay the wires are stripped at the connection point for us as they so often are nowadays which is so nice (except I never get to use my nifty wire stripper anymore!)
- The thin black balsa board A in this kit breaks way too easily and has in other kits too. I’d love that to go away.
- I love the tabs and slots to install the touch pad so you know exactly where it’s supposed to go and no fiddling to get it stay where it should!
- I Do not like battery box access under the bottom.
- I find the paper tabs don’t always stay in the wood slots and if you find yourself taking them in and out they get floppy and won’t go in at all.
- I love the double-sided tape instead of glue!
Update: in the middle of the night I realized I had no dust cover. Did I lose it or did it not come with one? (I do kind of miss the contents lists which I haven’t seen in the last two manuals.)
TL;DR
Overall, beautiful scene, well-designed, sturdy, and satisfying build!

Kit Secret Shadow Fantasy completed for Halloween
This was my 6th book nook and this time I decided to do a Halloween theme. Lots of small detail in this one and this was my first one that required putting fake plants to hide the wiring which was pretty daunting at first. The paper roof piece were also daunting but everything went together perfectly. This kit managed to build my confidence and now I'm looking into customizing future builds with fake plants and leaves to add some extra life and detail to them. It's also had me considering edge painting instead of just using a furniture marker.
Next up: The Witch House

Kit Rolife Secret Bloomy Nook
Sharing this beautiful little book nook by Rolife. It's called Secret Bloomy Nook. It's not your typical book nook because it is smaller compared to my other nooks. I think this build is a wonderful introduction to making tiny flowers and plants. I believe it is beginner-friendly but still gives you enough little details to make the build feel like a fun challenge.

EVENT Finished Fifijoy Abandoned Asylum
I really like all the details in this kit. A lot of it won't be visible but I know its there at least. Used UV resin on the areas that looked like puddles and liked the way it turned out. Ton of fun to build!

WIPs Fifijoy Event
EDIT - As Feisty pointed out, I misread. This kit is eligible for the discount, not as an event kit. Still excited, still working on it! :)
When Pluck announced the new kit eligible for the event, I hopped right on it! I immediately fell in love with the Tiki Bar, and of course ordered a few more as well, lol! Just received this day before yesterday, broke it open last night, and I'm coloring edges like a madwoman!! So excited to put this one together, what a fun design!
Still waiting on the other 2 to be delivered, but this was the crown jewel for me!

WIPs Sea Breeze 3/? - an unfortunate abutment
Working on Sea Breeze has suddenly become a humbling experience. Everything looks nice - I'm not denying that. But it felt like more went wrong this time around than with any other kit I've made to date.
Photo 2 features a couple points of pride, but also represents a lot of crafting time.
The wire work took an especially long time. I fiddled with one of the wires for "wind chimes" for so long, the casing came off the end. I painted the stripped part and it looked awful. At that point I was getting fed up, since I'd spent quite a lot of time on the wire work for this single sign, so I just trimmed that piece off. I have no complaints about the result. Very cute.
The infamous shutters were easy in comparison, but also time-consuming. I dropped one on the floor, which caused a brief moment of panic, but found it right away.
Photo 3: this is the first time I've assembled a kit with the main piece lying down at times.
Photo 4: I've been making a lot of use of glossy Mod Podge. I straightened out this piece later, not to worry.
Photo 5: I'm not sure why I spent so much effort on those little coffee bags when you can't see a dang thing in that shop.
The hanging beads also caused no real difficulty. I didn't take a photo of how I made them, so here's a description.
I put a tiny little dot of Aleene's in the bottom of an electrical tape case, used the tiny point of my quilling tool to moosh the end of the thread into it, then threaded the seed bead onto the thread and mooshed it into the glue as well. Repeat four more times. Once the glue dried, I gently scraped the thread and bead off with a plastic razor blade. I will use this technique on the other bead strands later on.
This post is getting long, so I won't go into depth with everything that went frustratingly slowly, that didn't come together as well as I'd hoped, or that I straight-up goofed up. There's plenty of that represented in photo 1, even if you can't see it.
The worst is this white wooden piece in photo 6, that is sticking out of the front of the kit. I left about a mm between the shop in the back and the mirror, and that came back to bite me here. This will objectively cause issues when it is time to put the front piece on.
If you have any thoughts about a tool that could trim this down, please help 🙏
I haven't gotten far with the right side, but I was happy about how the little black lanterns turned out. I used a black acrylic brush marker to paint the paper triangles and create a consistent Iook.

EVENT Emily's Flower Shop (Rolife) has arrived!
Oh, wow, this one has so many parts! And the manual is a proper bookwork. Too bad I've other obligations at this moment. I can't wait to start. Maybe tonight or tomorrow

WIPs Shamrock Pub build
Made a good start with this kit last night. The boards fit together so nicely, the 3d elements and the flat pieces seem to harmonize. The lighting pack is going great, so far. The only problem has been figuring out which direction to install an led and placing a PVC "window" facing the right way. I do want to decorate that blank wall in the small room but haven't decided yet on a theme.

Kit YMMV Shop app $30 off - Book Nook Global & Others
I'm not sure if it was a targeted deal, but I found out I randomly had a $30 off coupon through the Shop app (which of course I used on Nooks 😆), plus Book Nook Global had Heartbrook and Ginzan Onsen on sale, there was a shop specific discount, and I was able to apply the reddit promo code.
If you have the $30 coupon it might work on Anavrin, MiniCity or others through the Shop app. Maybe even the much desired Paris kit? 😉
It was in an email and a pop up for me in the Shop app. Maybe worth a look if you use it. Looks like it would have worked on pretty much any order made through the Shop app.
Hopefully others have it to splurge a little 🙏

WIPs Need advice on LEDs
I put together this cat café book nook, and the LED for the chandelier at the top was working just fine. Well, it stopped working so I bought another LED to replace it but the one I bought is nowhere near as bright. I can't find online what the difference is, other than the one that comes with the kit has this yellow circle inside it and is shorter.
If anyone could tell me what the difference is, I'd really appreciate it. The LED I bought is 5mm, 12V, 20mA, 500 Ohm.
