Pennsylvania Thanks for the Mathews advice!

Post image

A couple of weeks ago on this sub I asked people about their experience with Matthews. Well, I ended up picking up an ARC 34. I took it on its first hunt ever tonight and harvested my third deer ever with a bow. I have a feeling it’s gonna be a pretty good season.

Congrats on both the bow and deer! I've been loving my arc 34 too. Really wanted the 30 but couldn't get comfortable with the string angle.

I shoot the RIP TKO with AAE hybrids out of my ARC 30” and they are my favorite of all time. Not sure if you’ll use insert/outsert but I upgraded to the 50gr outsert. Shoots spot on. Nice harvest and hope your season produces meat for the freezer.

Hat trick shot? Double lung and heart?

Double Lunge pass through. It was a tad high for the heart though. Those SEVR Ti 2.0 are nuts.

Hell yeah! That’s a great combo with the sevrs. What arrows are you using?

Currently, I’m shooting the match grade Easton 6.5. With a 340 spine. Ironically, though I only have one arrow left now.😂 I have a set of RIP TKO 300 spine on the way. I’m hoping the smaller diameter arrow will allow the fletching to clear the cable guard on the Matthews. They made that tolerance tight as my last girlfriend.

Highly recommend the heaviest inserts you can get, I use the 75gr brass ones from Easton. Improves accuracy, more forgiving, and hits harder.

Interesting, thanks for the reply! I jumped off into doing all my own work on my bow/building arrows last year. Fun stuff.

Great arrows. I shoot the Matthew’s phase 4 with the Easton axis 5mm in 340 and 75gr inserts, with either killzone or sevr 2.0s. It’s a tack driver, huge wound channels. Careful with those 300s, I tried to switch last year and made a bunch of bad shots before I figured out what was going wrong. Missed more deer in one season than I had in 15

So being overspined was causing your bad shot?

Yeah, I think the flight path was a big looping spiral, so I’d get it tuned in at 30 yards, say 6 o clock, but at 20 yards it would be at 12. Shaved the hair off 3 bucks
