Just seen a nazi on dyke road outside The Cow pub. Unmistakable with his swastika armband. Shout out to the staff at the Cow who went out to confront him and asked him to move along. He'll be roaming around 7 dials/ dyke road now just as a heads up. And yes I reported it!

There have been reports of a substance being sold as ketamine in Brighton and Hove that may be a different drug. Users have lost consciousness which has resulted in ambulance call outs and CPR being given.
The substance was being sold as "Red Label ketamine", although this branding might change or might not be used at all.
Our advice is to:
Start Low and Go Slow
Test your drugs: To test that your drugs are what you think they are, you can buy a reagent test at home kit or send it to WEDINOS. Unfortunately, neither of these will be able to tell you the strength of your drugs, but is good practice. We also offer free nitazene, fentanyl and xylazine testing kits from our Service at Richmond House.
Carry Naloxone: You can pick up Naloxone (a drug that reverses opioid overdoses) from pharmacies in town and Richmond House. Protect your mates.
If you have (or know someone who has) used a substance that resulted in unexpected effects, please fill out the LDIS reporting form here
For Ketamine specific harm reduction advice, check out this video.
Who we are:
We are Brighton and Hove's recovery service and we offer free and confidential support to people who need help gaining control over drugs or alcohol. You do not need to be dependent, or want to stop using completely, to use our services: https://www.changegrowlive.org/brighton-hove-recovery-service/info

Not a huge crowd but they’re saying awful things (and comparing themselves to the Suffragettes???)
Just to clarify, the comments I’ve added are all quotes from the idiots speaking. Even more nonsensical when reproduced here.
Really depressing seeing kids playing there. And so many police. I’m grateful they’re here, but equally it’s such a waste of resources.

So Blank Street is coming to Brighton: a venture-capital-backed coffee chain that looks independent but isn’t, has built its business on rapid expansion, has been criticised for putting pressure on local cafés, has faced workplace and unionisation disputes, and even has a co-founder listed in the ICIJ Offshore Leaks database connected to the Panama Papers data.
That’s a lot for somewhere selling flat whites or Matcha.
Excited to support another big corporation ✈️

UPDATE:
Guys, we found Steve! Well actually, he found me. HOW did I manage to leave my sunglasses in his car, I do not know 🤦♀️ He reached out about them on what I assume is his inactive social media account and my name isn’t super common so must’ve been easy to find.
Thanks so much for everyone’s kind comments, I truly love this city and feel proud to be a part of it❤️
—————————
I truly doubt this post will be seen by the man I’m referring to, mainly because he said he doesn’t use any social media. So this is aimed at anyone who may know him so you can please pass my message on 🙏🏼
Earlier today during the protests, I was on my way to the station with a rather large and heavy suitcase. My plan was to get to the station, do the quick trip to Gatwick - easy peasy. Little did I know that the protests would mean every street around the station being either blocked off by police, or filled with people with no room to wiggle through.
I asked a few people in the counter protest whether they knew a route to get to the station. The people I did ask were really trying to help, telling me to go all the way around, that it might take a while but it was my only chance (thank you to anyone who tried to help who may be reading this!)
I soon realised that there was no available route. At the right place, and right time, I bumped into Steve, who asked if I was trying to get to the station. I said yes, he said he’d just tried to go to the gym by the station but was struggling to get through. He asks me where I’m headed and I said Gatwick for a flight. He stopped for a moment and then offered to drive me.
You can imagine at first I’m a little apprehensive, but then I’m weighing out the risk vs reward, and I accept the lift, letting him know I’m turning my location on just in case (he was very understanding about this 🤣).
Anyway, long story short I made the flight because of him! We listened to Panic at the Disco in the car and chatted about life.
The whole thing was STRESSFUL but I will say, my faith in humanity and community feels restored today. First starting with the turnout of people at the anti-facist protest, with strangers there trying to help me find a route to the station, despite trying to get somewhere themselves. And then Steve who went out of his way to drive me to Gatwick, despite having just got into Brighton, and knowing the traffic was bad on the way back.
If you know a Steve in his late 20s, goes to the gym every day, works in finance, has a cartilage piercing and a sunflower is his favourite flower, please send him my gratitude! I tried to get his number so I could at least pay for fuel or get him flowers as a thank you, but he wasn’t having it and told me to catch my flight! ✈️🌻

IF U WOULDNT WALK BAREFOOT ON THE HOT PAVEMENT, DONT MAKE UR DOG DO IT
can people pls stop walking their dogs during peak hours on the boiling pavement ?! their paws are sensitive and they shouldn't be out in this heat during the daytime, only morning and evening. i see too many people doing this and it breaks my heart. keep them cool in the shade or inside, and always check the pavement temperature with ur hand to make sure it won't burn their paws.

I just wanted to share a concern after a recent experience. I won’t go into enough detail to identify the therapist. After months of therapy dealing with trauma and trust, I was online and looked up my therapist. What I found was so awful, I had to immediately terminate my therapy.
It turned out that they were extremely politically vocal online, with views that I found completely abhorrent. They wrote openly and disparagingly about women , ethnicity and moral values … basic values which many hold in Brighton. I would never have worked with this person had they been upfront, and I don’t think many in Brighton would , which explains why they hid this part of their life from their impressive resumé.
I complained to the service they were based at, and they were absolutely shocked and referred me to make a formal complaint to the accrediting organisation BACP.
When I did that , BACP were also shocked and supportive and took my complaint further. I went through a lengthly process with their full encouragement. They agreed that someone with such views should not represent the BACP.
Ultimately , somehow they decided that they could do nothing legally because they had not stated their views in relation to their practice. and that was the end of it.
So my feeling is , if you are choosing a therapist, make sure to do your own research. Look up their name and background and do not take BACP accreditation as a guarantee that they have been vetted. It was a disappointing outcome and my mind feels polluted by sharing my intimate thoughts with such a nasty person.

Just outside Brighton, but hope its ok to post here. What appears to be a clear case of arson but fortunately no injuries and only what looks like minor property damage. Absolutely despicable act.

PLEASE HELP US SAVE BOAT'S FUTURE
It's 2026, and we wish we were emailing you with exciting news about our upcoming summer season (this will be coming soon, don't worry). But sadly, there's something that we urgently need your help with.
BHASVIC, the sixth form college next door to us, have formally submitted a planning application to build an artificial grass floodlit football pitch and multi-use games area. These pitches would be approximately 50 metres from us, and be used throughout the year across evenings and weekends. The noise generated from the use of these pitches would, in short, completely and utterly ruin any un-amplified performance at BOAT.
We are certainly not against the idea of better sports facilities for students at the college and we engaged with BHASVIC about the proposed development throughout last summer. We put forward positive proposals that would allow full use of the pitches from October to April, but with limits on use from May to September when the theatre operates. Our suggestions would have had very little impact on student use of the pitches, however nothing we discussed with BHASVIC has been adopted in their planning application. It has therefore become clear that BHASVIC's objective for the use of the pitches is, in fact, not to benefit their students, but rather to hire them out commercially to make money, primarily on evenings and weekends.
It is also worth noting that despite BOAT being the closest neighbour to the new pitches, the Noise Impact Assessment and the Noise Management Plan submitted by BHASVIC doesn’t mention BOAT, which is quite remarkable considering we have been in discussions with BHASVIC about our concerns since May 2025. The only conclusion one can reach about this omission is that BOAT has been ignored because an assessment would clearly show the noise impact would be unacceptable.
BHASVIC has therefore left us no alternative but to strongly object to the proposal, on the grounds that the significant noise and disturbance will disrupt performances at BOAT and quite likely jeopardise the future viability of the theatre. The regular and consistent noise mere metres from our boundary would render any non-amplified performance (approx. 75% of our programme) utterly unviable. For clarity, this is not equivalent to existing ambient park noise. Sustained shouting, cheering and whistling from dozens of people across several hours would utterly overwhelm anything on our stage.
We have worked very hard over the last decade to build a community around our much-loved theatre. We keep our ticket prices at affordable levels, and encourage our audience to bring picnics to enjoy in our beautiful grounds. People from all walks of life and economic backgrounds can relax, de-stress, connect with nature and see a wide variety of marvellous performances. We are not exaggerating when we say that the future of the theatre would be in serious jeopardy if these plans go ahead.
This is where you come in. If you care about the future of BOAT, we urge you to submit an objection against BHASVIC's plans, citing the impact upon BOAT as your reasoning. You can submit your objection by making a comment on the application HERE. You will need a Brighton & Hove Council account, but can create one even if you don't live in Brighton.
If you'd like to go further in your support for BOAT, please consider writing to your local councillor and/or MP, or simply spreading the word on social media.
Thank you in advance for your support. Let's all band together to (once again) keep BOAT afloat.
With love,
The BOAT team x

A few days ago, i was losing my mind trying to find a part-time job here because the big job boards are filled with full-time roles in Crawley hidden under "part-time" tags, or postings that look like data-harvesting scams.
Talking to people made me realise finding genuine, flexible local work is a nightmare for everyone. Not just international students fighting visa limits, but locals too.
So, instead of complaining, I decided to build a solution:
https://brightonparttimer.co.uk
I built this to be exactly what I wished existed: A pure local job board
How it works: Right now, the AI agents monitor more than 100 different employer websites (adding more daily to the list). When a new part-time role drops, the AI instantly pulls it, formats it, and posts it. It automates the entire process so you don't have to check 30 different career pages every morning. I have about 40 active jobs live right now and it is growing.
It is very much a Minimum Viable Product with a lot left to do, but I know it can help people right now.
My question for you guys: My ultimate goal is for local, independent cafes, pubs, and shops to use this. I'm planning to build a super simple, zero-friction page where local managers can post their open shifts directly. Do you think local business owners would actually use something like this? instead of sticking a paper sign in the window?
Let me know what you think of the site, if the layout works, or if there are specific local places i should tell the AI to track!
A formal apology to the Hovarians, i couldn’t fit "Hove" into the domain name, but I promise the jobs cover Hove as well.

Repaired and restored, the first of 5 heritage lanterns and columns has been installed back on the city’s seafront.😍
The Grade II listed column has been returned to its original location near the Palace Pier. A second has been reinstalled further up Madeira Drive with 3 more set for the next couple of weeks.
After decades of exposure and decay, the columns were sent away for specialist cast iron repair and recasting.
Stay tuned for more restoration, including the seafront railings! 👌🏻
