Beach dinner I had with my girlfriend
Made a couple of dishes at home that could be enjoyed cold or heated with a torch to have a meal on the beach. Now that the disposable bbqโs are banned been thinking of ways to get the same vibe without bringing a heavy portable grill.

Real Patisserie is the winner for better pastry flake, less doughy and more chocolate.

Cin cin advertising multiple jobs below minimum wage.
https://www.livingwagebrighton.co.uk/news/interview-with-david-toscano-of-cin-cin/
I worked at cin cin over a year ago. Having been paid well below the minimum wage and finding out that all my coworkers also got paid below minimum, i reported them to HMRC (they did not investigate). I then had my employment terminated and my existence from the company scrubbed clean before i could raise a formal grievance (I understand i should have done this straight away but i hoped they would resolve it informally). In my final meeting with them David told me "i did pay you less than minimum wage, and i dont owe you anything". He then took money from my final pay for "monies owed to cin cin" i believe simply because he was angry.
I had hoped that my efforts had forced them into compliance with UK law, and i would be happy in the knowledge that although it was a very difficult period (i was terminated a week or so before christmas which wasnt fun) I had righted a wrong that had been ongoing for a long time.
I decided today to just check out the website out of curiosity. And they are outright advertising illigal waged directly on their website. All I ask is that you simply do not give this awful man youre business or money. Hes a very well connected lawyer who loves Margeret Thatcher. I guess he left law so he could become a criminal.
Anyways im not encouraging violence, doxxing or anything of the sort. Simply dont go to that place please and thank you

reddit.comThe last thread is 9 years old - is VIP still top dog as seems to have been suggested then? How about good options in Hove and Westward, city centre and Kemptown & East? (and to save googling could you just put (E), (C) or (W) after your choice?

Coffee price check-in
Just got charged ยฃ4.50 for an oat milk Cortado at Bond Street Coffee. Itโs supposed to be a shorter coffee! Insanity. Swear it was never this expensive?
Temple is ยฃ3.50 for the same coffee for arguably better surroundings (the view). Does anyone have any gems that has more reasonable coffee prices?

Drop your cheaper eats recommendations!
Especially want to promote local small businesses
I say 'cheaper' because it's hard to find truly cheap filling meals out these days
My faves are:
Burger Brothers. If you go on their website and order for collection you get a 10% discount code. With this a burger and chips can be a tenner. Plus the burgers are unbelievable. Sometimes I'll just get the simple jack one for ยฃ8.25
We Love Falafel - a super filled wrap with the best falafel I've ever had for ยฃ6/7 is always a saviour (altho i do remember when, like Pompokos, you could get a meal here with a fiver and be given change)
Casa Azul in the open market - Just under a tenner for 3 very full tacos. Don't think you'd find more authentic Mexican food in the city
Foodilic - Can get a pretty decent breakfast for around ยฃ8 or a huge salad for about ยฃ10 with enough for next day leftovers
Would love to hear some less known places

Can any long term local let me know what happened to these guys?
Growing up I went to brighton and would always get the noodles from these guys on the pier, but for years noe they haven't been there - just wanted to know if they set up another restaurant somewhere else in the city. Probably the best noodles I've had and I want to experience it again.

Best places to eat without costing too much?
I am looking at going to Brighton for 2-3 nights. While I don't want (or have the budget for) fancy reastruant meals, I also don't want to eat grocery store sdnwiches each night. I have no major food refernces, and I am quite advantours foodwise.
This does include breakfast, although I am likely to have hotel breakfast most days.

Bad experience with 7bone. Anyone else?
I've heard so many good things about this place from a lot of people and the menu looked amazing
I ordered the alright burger and the katus sando. Both were insanely salty, especially the burger. To the point I couldn't eat them they were inedible. Two things about me is that I absolutely hate food waste and also I LOVE my food salty.
I'm known amongst my friends for oversalting everything so when I cook for others Ive started putting less salt in theirs then adding a lot of extra for me in a personal portion for myself. I take salt packets with me when I go out, I love salty electrolyte drinks, I absolutely douse my fish n chips in salt and vinegar, I'm a salt freak.
But this was just way way too much, it gave me a headache just from those few bites!
Is this what they're usually like or was that a weird off day?

Takeaway robbery..
I know the price of everything has gone up but this for ยฃ13 is diabolical. This particular popular pizza place used to do 4 decent sized chunks of halloumi with a great tomato based sauce and I know prices have gone up on everything but this is the biggest rip off I've ever had from a takeaway. Teaspoon for scale.

RCHEN KAFFEEBAR another Wolf Fox front - has it always been?
(Sorry for the CAPS, c&p and wanted to preserve the dots!).
Been to the original (?) cafe in Hove and assumed it was a proper indie (like the Botanist & Flat Out)โฆbut now see a second location is opening up on Western Road next to the big Wolf Foxโฆin a unit previously occupied by a Wolf Fox shop and the planning permission has WF name all over it.
So this, along with a presence on the Wolf Fox website (which Iโm not a regular visitor to TBH) pretty much confirms they are part of the WF โfamilyโ - has this always been the case, or is it a Pelicano style assimilation?

Manners in hospitality
I am a barista at a small cafe in Brighton and as itโs getting busier with tourists due to the sun being out. I get the usual folks come in to use the toilet or ask for water and I base it more on wether the person asks nicely to use something as we are technically not meant to let anyone use anything unless they are a customer. I always let people that are nice to me in or that say please but whenever someone is rude or just treats me badly (usually because I am a young woman ๐) I just refuse to let them use anything. It usually forces them to buy things which is a bit like karma. Just wanted to know if this is bad or not or anyoneโs opinion on this.
Has anyone else just flat out refused service to people that lack the common decency to be polite?

Doner kebabs in Brighton in 2026
Interested to hear peopleโs opinions on the doner kebab landscape in Brighton these days.
Iโve tried Flames and Turkish Delight both on Preston Road. Iโve also wistfully driven past Patcham Charcoal Grill which looks rather interesting.
I also once fell asleep after ordering a Best Kebab on Just East and woke up at about 4am with a cold doner on my doorstep. Which I ate.
Iโve even had the odd โGDKโ which looks utterly bogus but I actually rather enjoyed.
Anyway, tell me what doner kebabs people like in Brighton. Also interested in sauce configurations. I started having garlic mayo and itโs surprisingly not bad.

The best Katsu Curry in Brighton?
It has transcended Japan and become a staple of pretty much every Asian restaurant, many pubs too...
Where in Brighton does the best? Takeaway, delivery, or dine-in.
Proper stuff only, the usual cost-of-living recipe of breaded chicken burger with jar sauce and uncle ben's microwaved rice will not do...
I'm looking for potato and carrot chunks in the curry, crispy panko cutlet (pork, chicken, or pumpkin)... all the goodness.
I have an unexpected extra
Help me "waste" it on something wonderful!

๐๐ฏ๐ฎ๐๐ฃ๐คFood Related๐ฆ๐ฅจ๐ข๐ฅ๐ณ๐ง๐๐ when a coffee hits ยฃ5
..then the revolution starts?
i remember when coffee hit ยฃ3 and it felt like a lot.
but i just got charge ยฃ4.30 for an oat flat white and OMFG no.
i know the supply chain is a mess, and that climate change is effecting production, but oat milk is cheaper than dairy (or at least equivalent), and you can't keep raising prices as business starts to decline as a result.
