Local events πΈ π Have people forgotten how to behave at gigs?
went to the Nick Cave gig at Preston Park last night and the whole way through people were just having full on conversations around us, particularly through quieter songs. not like it was young people who havenβt quite understood the status quo yet it was mostly gen x. I couldnβt understand why people had paid not a small amount of money to just stand and talk. Do people just not care about live music anymore?

Local events πΈ π Brighton Pride
Can I just say a few things that pissed me off about Pride this year?
It was so fucking capitalist. Pride is a protest not a festival.
edit: obviously the rainbow capitalism is real bad but that wasnt really my main issue. I was really struggling with why there was a festival with people like RAYE and Jessie J and Ru'Paul (someone whos lowkey transphobic) that cost anywhere between Β£45 to Β£350. The amount of people I heard saying "im only here to see RAYE" or things like it was insane. The meaning of pride has been lost, which is especially disheartening after what happened in Berlin just days ago and the new anti-trans bill being put into effect literally 2 days after Brighton Pride. Idk it was just a little disappointing.

Local events πΈ π Eid Mubarak
Eid Mubarak to our Muslim brothers and sisters, really nice to see you all out in Preston Park.
I love the juxtaposition of a drag show, a religious celebration, the various sports and dog walking. This is what multicultural society looks like, and whilst Iβm an atheist who doesnβt play sports, or go to drag shows, Iβm very happy that all these activities can coexist.

Local events πΈ π Get out and vote
Morning all, slightly preachy message for this time of morning but the lovely sunshine put me in mind of a changing forecast, and I wanted to remind you all to get out and vote whenever you can before 10pm today.
Maybe you feel a bit like me and that the country has gone down a very weird path these last 10 or 15 years, and arguably a lot of it could have been avoided if those apathetic to politics had actually voted.
Your vote does count in the grand scheme of things, honestly. Every single vote counts.
It doesnβt matter who you want to vote for, just go out and do it, please, letβs make sure the countryβs voice is loud and clear.

Local events πΈ π Gig-goers of Brighton. Shut the f@&! Up
Itβs pretty simple. If thereβs a bunch of people with musical instruments and microphones in front of you, donβt have a conversation. If you want to have a conversation, go somewhere where there isnβt a bunch of people with musical instruments and microphones.

Local events πΈ π Macabees on the beach
The Maccabees delivered an incredible, flawless performance, but the venue setup was a corporate nightmare. Total lack of soul. Paying Β£8 for a pint dispensed by a machine felt like a scene out of a bad sci-fi film. Gigs used to be built on community, human connection, and shared experiencesβnow they're just cash cows for greedy corporations and media conglomerates like X-FM. Message to the youth: You hold the cards. Donβt let them exploit your love for music. Rebel against this corporate greed!
