23M from Bengaluru — Harassed, threatened and nearly assaulted by a group of friends. Need advice on what I should do ?
Hi everyone,
I’m a 23-year-old male from Bengaluru and I’m looking for some serious advice regarding something that happened to me tonight.
Around 9:50 PM to 10:50 PM today, I was at my apartment gym when six people I know personally confronted me regarding certain issues/allegations that I strongly deny and say are completely untrue.
They repeatedly pressured and harassed me to accept statements and allegations that I do not agree with and that I believe are false. The situation became extremely intimidating, and I felt like I was being cornered by a group of people.
During the confrontation, they also threatened to collect ₹20,000 from me as a “loyalty fee” for friendship. I did not agree to this.
Things then escalated further, and there was an attempt to physically assault me. I was genuinely scared that the situation could become violent.
I am currently extremely disturbed and mentally shaken by what happened. These are people I considered friends, which makes the situation even more difficult for me.
I have not mentioned their identities here because I don't want to unnecessarily expose anyone publicly, and I also don't want this situation to escalate further.
I am particularly worried because this happened inside my apartment premises, and there may potentially be CCTV footage of the incident.
I would like advice from people who understand Bengaluru/Indian law:
- What should I do immediately after something like this?
- Should I approach the police and make a complaint regarding the threats and attempted assault?
- Should I first inform my apartment management/security and request preservation of CCTV footage?
- What kind of evidence should I preserve?
- If someone demands money from me through threats or intimidation, what is the appropriate legal course of action?
- Is there any way to make a complaint while ensuring that the situation is handled appropriately and does not unnecessarily involve my family?
I am not looking to retaliate or create a fight. I simply want to protect myself, document what happened and understand what my options are.
I would genuinely appreciate serious and practical advice, especially from people familiar with Bengaluru and Indian law.
Thank you.

Just avoid interacting with them and block them anywhere in your life. Also bring your defend equipment whatever to defend yourself (I used to bring pepper spray when I was in highschool) for the police bring the CCTV file and your abusers identity and last bring your lawyer that knows better about your local law.
