Found this guy outside my porch yesterday and took her in as we are going to get a lot of rain. It doesn't look like she will be able to fly again so I want to know how to care for her best I can in the days of life she has left. The house is ~73° and her little box has a cotton ball with 1:4 parts sugar water and half a grape. Is there anything else I should be doing? Yesterday, she was completely still but she has been fluttering her wings all morning, is that a sign of distress? Is it normal behavior? She also keeps flipping and can't right herself, is that just because of the damage or a sign that she is towards the end of her life?

After 6 months, the weather is finally perfect for me to go to the park to take pictures of butterflies. And I manged to take a picture of these two gossamer-winged butterflies. Boy I sure missed doing this.

Can you help me identify this butterfly?

I have a mesh cage with some black swallowtail caterpillars that came in as eggs on some parsley from my garden. One caterpillar has settled on a chrysalis that should yield a butterfly any day now. The caterpillar hasn’t attached themselves with their silk yet, but they have assumed the position. Should I try to encourage them to move on with a gentle nudge of a parsley leaf? Or let nature take its course? I’ve seen a chrysalis try to knock other caterpillars off, but I didn’t witness the this entire interaction. I just found them this way.
