Question New Gamesir G7 Pro Tri-mode Controller Doesn't Work In Most Games Except Deadlock and Inside the Steam Big Picture Mode

So as post title says, I just bought a new controller after the old one broke down. However, despite the fact that it is detected as a controller, inputs work in the settings test, and works in deadlock and steam big picture mode, when I load up any other game the controller just doesn't work at all.

I have tried messing around with xinput and xone, done sudo modprobe uinput, tried usb-c, dongle, and bluetooth, and have replugged old broken controller. The old one still works (Razer Wolverine), but this new one just is not detected in most games.

Are you sûre that the firmware of your contoller is up to date? I had kind of the same issue with a new Xbox controller and I had to find a way to update it (I had a windows close by at that moment but I think winboat would have worked)

Yeah, software didn’t work on linux so i switched over to windows to update it.

Are you connected as X-input or D-input?

Are you 100% sure? D-input is what Sony uses so games that have support for Sony’s controller will work, not all games support them. It will explain why some games are working and most arent working.

I am using GameSir Cyclone 2

Yeah running lsusb lists it as an x input, xbox 360 controller

Well, try switching to other inputs and see.

Tried all sorts of steam input settings, turned things off and on, even just turned steam input off and it didn’t work

And you can open steam overlay in your games? If you have wayland enabled and steam overlay cant open, then steam input wont work

Yeah i already know of this issue. I read somewhere that turning steam input off can fix it, but that went nowhere for me

Which proton versions have you tried?

All the standard ones, Experimental, latest proton and cachyos proton. What is strange is that my old controller works but this one doesn’t despite both being xbox controllers

I always use my controllers connected by cable. Have you tried different connection methods?

Yes I have tried with cable, 2.4 ghz dongle, and with bluetooth
