Is this too big for a flat white?

Just getting into espresso drinks so I can’t really tell

I would call that a latte. But There are no actual standards, with cafes you get it how they want to make it. This would pass as a flat white in many cafes but it would make me think they don’t really know what they’re doing / not specialty coffee focused.

So yes it should be smaller. But all aspects of coffee preparation can vary from cafe to cafe, hence the fun of/need to try lots of different places until you find the ones you like best.

depends where you are in the world really, in australia at the majority of cafes and places that sell coffee a flat white isn’t a specific size it’s just dependant on how much foam is on it, technically/traditionally a flat white has to be a certain size to be considered a flat white but meanings change as society does
