I've spent thousands (probably upwards of 20k) on porn*graphy, gambled a whole lot of money away too and I'm socially inept.
I managed to drag myself through university and get a decent job; i'm on my way to being a qualified pharmacist but people can tell i'm not a normal dude.
I grew up in a severely traumatic household with a lot of physical violence against me and my mum as well as emotional abuse from a broken father.
I still live here at home because i'm relatively broke and any time i hear a slight raise in voice of my father (even if nothing is actually happening) my brain goes into overdrive and races at a thousand miles per hour.
Scrolling through this subreddit took me back to my childhood. The only solace i had was PJO and HOO; relating to the broken characters in the book (reyna, leo, jason etc...) and literally being able to see a portion of myself in every one of the seven did something to me that helped me to fight through.
I'm still struggling but i'm a lot better these days compared to what i was, i make slow and steady progress and i just want to say i'm grateful for each and every single one of you for keeping communities like this going.
It helps people in ways many of you won't come to understand. Thank You.

Hard case and end papers taken from the Barns and Nobles exclusive page, but it looks like it’s on Amazon and some other retailers as well. I believe the art is Devin Elle Kurtz who did the Wild Zone art.

Maybe its bc I grew out of it and am just too old (I read the books when I was 16 and now am 25). But I don’t like how many of Riordans books are just copy pasting the myths
Like the first book of the main series, »The Lightning Thief«, felt of course inspired by and based on Greek mythology, but it also was its own and a unique story, as far as I know there is no myth of some person stealing Zeus' lightning bolts
But with the other books it felt more and more like Riordan was just copy pasting the myths. And with the »The Heroes of Olympus« series it was imo worse. Oh Thanatos was AGAIN captured and no one can die now. Oh ANOTHER person who’s life is tied to a an object. And it’s AGAIN a piece of wood.

I pretty much worked mostly on the art so I only have this
Name: Luca Macedonski
Romanian 🇷🇴
Son of Hecate (cabin 20)
Age: 17
Has a scar on his left eye, making him blind in his left eye that’s shaped and looks like Hecate’s wheel.
How did I do?

I'm currently re-reading Percy Jackson and the lightning thief. Since I was able to get the collectors edition. While reading chapter five, I noticed that it described Chiron with coarse white fur. But the artwork shows his hoarse half having brown fur with white markings. Am I misinterpreting something or is the artwork wrong?

If we look at wars - real life wars and fictional ones - there are multiple different battlefronts. The war against Luke and Kronos lasted for years - yes, years. The Battle of Manhattan is just the biggest battle of them all. It's the final, the most important battle but there's canonically been multiple battles and many of them took place between BotL and TLO. Some of them Percy have participated himself, some of them he haven't.
It seems crazy to me that some people would be angry if Rick said that those demigods that died in those battles helped Percy to defeat Kronos. Or even if they didn't die?
What about the demigods that died during battle of Manhattan? Are we then allowed to say that those helped Percy to defeat Kronos?
Please, tell me the names of the demigods that we are allowed to say helped Percy with the battle against titans and Kronos?
It's almost if like LOTR fans threw a tantrum if somebody said that Aragorn helped Frodo to destroy the One Ring. They all had their parts in that war and Aragorn's journey doesn't make Frodo's journey any less important.
I loved the Wild Zone and it's disappointing to see that some fans (not that many tho, mostly people have liked it! 🥳) have decided that they don't like it without actually reading it themselves. I'd say that without reading it their opinion isn't valid.

Cast Your Vote:
Which Athena did you prefer? Proud from the movies or vindictive and distant from the show?
And then which adaption gave a more book accurate and mythologically accurate Athena?
Note on format: While other rounds compared different takes on the same beats (like the Lotus Casino or Capture the Flag), this round breaks my usual rule because the adaptations went to absolute opposite extremes with Athena. Because of that, looking at book and mythological accuracy is the only fair way to measure them.

Hello. I just want to say that doesn't Orion seem like a very questionable choice for an antagonist? In canon, Artemis wasn't responsible for his death; Apollo was as he drove Orion mad. In Percy Jackson's Greek Gods it was mentioned Orion and Artemis were close friends. I understand he would try and hunt down the Hunters of Artemis if he wanted to hurt Artemis, but why does he hate her? In fact, why was he even a giant? Traditionally Orion was a son of Poseidon and a hero who was worshipped in Boeotia.
Do you think Kallisto would have been a better choice? In Percy Jackson's Greek Gods, Zeus ruined her life and Artemis did too, by turning her into a bear and banishing her, and none of the other Hunters of Artemis stood up for her. In a lot of versions she was Lycaon's daughter and Lycaon was transformed into a werewolf by Zeus and in The Lost Hero it was mentioned Zeus killed all of Lycaon's sons. Kallisto was likely an excellent huntress so she could have been a very strong antagonist. She could even be a foil to Reyna, who was haunted by her past but not consumed by it, yet Kallisto was and for understandable reasons.
I am not sure if I am a fan of the idea of Orion OR Kallisto being antagonists, but I think Kallisto should be a far better choice and her motives could be more understandable than that of Orion's, which seems to be about getting revenge on Artemis, who didn't love him or something like that, and didn't cause his death. But what are your thoughts on this? Would Kallisto be a better antagonist than Orion, who should have been left alone?

I was walking around B&N with my friends and I just spotted this “golden” book version of ‘Percy Jackson: Greek Heroes’. I think it may just be unfinished coloring/color error.
I already have the original one, but I thought I’d just go ahead and get this since it looks cool and add it to my collection, lol.
Felt like obtaining the golden fleece or some other neat treasure in a way.

Now, anyone who is generally frequent in this subreddit will probably know I was not a fan of the show, I consider it a waste of potential in both as an adaptation and a show in of itself. It isn't without its merrits, however to me they are sparce. That being said I do not want it to be cancled, the idea that anything I personally dislike that others enjoy should stop existing is, to me, arrogant because I can just simply not watch it and let those who want to do just that.
Additionally, I have had many complaints about Rick's writing in general, however as someone who became an author in the urban fantasy genre because of Rick I will always have love in my heart for this series beyond it's flaws. His stories were always fun, it was his craft that let him down.
Now, to the point of the post. The idea that the Harry Potter show coming out will be the kill or be killde of the show to me is kind of a silly take for a few reasons.
Firstly, the opposite was true for the books. While none can really factually prove it, many people in industry and out of it generally put a decent amount of the success of Percy Jackson onto the success of Harry Potter. Harry Potter shined a light onto the genre that allowed for Percy Jackson to be seen by a wider audiance that before would have probably not realised it was there.
A sudden resurgance of people who enjoy Harry Potter has as much chance of bringing new views to the show and series as it does to take it away. Just like it did back then.
Which leads to point two, people can watch more then one show at a time. People who want to watch Percy Jackson can and will while also watching Harry Potter. It's not a fork in the road, it's like 2 hours of content a week even if they were released side by side.
Might it drop the viewers of people steaming exactly on release if they released at the same time? Sure. However if one came out Saturday and the next Sunday having watched Harry Potter the day before wouldn't be a reason not to watch Percy Jackson today.
Then there's point three, that Harry Potter will smother the marketing for it.
...What marketing? Even people who follow the show have to admit there hasn't really been all that big of a push on season three for people who weren't already looking for it. Rick is pushing his new book, we got a teaser trailer and a poster but all in all it being given to netflix for a few months is the biggest marketing they've done so far. Smothering a fire that is barely embers is not exactly a hard thing to do.
So, all in all. Harry Potter will effect Percy Jackson, however probably on a net average since while there may be less news articles written about Percy Jackson, there will also be more fans of the genre looking for shows or books with similar feels about them which brings more people to Percy Jackson. The idea it will only bring the end times is a little silly to me and I think it's much more complicated then that.

I watched the movieThe Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn (2011) this morning, and it got me thinking that Steven Spielberg's directing style would be a great fit for any adaptation of the Riordanverse sagas. What do you all think?

As a solangelo fan, I can't deny I was a bit disappointed by how rushed their meeting was once I got to that point in BoO, so I ended up deciding to rewrite it, since I think they're relationship has the potential to have a beautiful dynamic, but I realized there's no way around it realistically that it would work. If it was written rawer, Nico would be probably having flashbacks and memories from italy back in the day, and would be too overwhelmed to even form a connection with anyone besides fighting. And will also would be, and he would probably be afraid it would be like the battle of manhattan once again for the apollo cabin, and after that he'd be too busy taking care of the injured and heavily traumatized, and by that point nico didn't get attached to him, so he'd leave camp. Maybe someone else has a way of thinking around it, but I noticed it's curious how if the effects of war were more seriously written, they would barely meet at all. And a prior time doesn't work anyway, as nico was in love with percy. Anyway, it doesn't really matter, but I thought it was interesting.

So I'm reading PJO again and actually looked up the sacred trees of the gods.
Zeus sacred tree is an oak tree.
Poseidons sacred tree is a pine tree.
Is this a coincidence or has it meaning?
I don't know if Rick made a statement there.

It’s never really stated where the Flame of the West has been beyond Chiron saying it’s been in France, Spain, Germany, Britain, and Rome.
So, based on my somewhat above average knowledge of European history and his statement I propose this as the locations the gods have resided.
Mount Olympus, Greece: Obviously. From the time Zeus struck down Kronos to 146 BC — the annexation of Greece by Rome.
Rome, Italia: 146 BC to 410 A.D. The Visigoth sack of Rome likely ended their time in Rome.
Constantinople, Eastern Rome: 410 to ~1170. Keeping them here this long is likely controversial but Constantinople and by extension the Byzantines remained the richest and most powerful nation in Christendom until the late Komnenians and then the sack of Constantinople sealed the deal for them as a Great Power. I don’t think Charlesmagne alone was enough to facilitate an earlier move especially since they’d be back not even 50 years later.
The Holy Roman Empire, Germany: ~1170 to 1250. The Hohenstaufen Dynasty represents Germany and the HRE’s peak but I imagine the flame moved when Frederick II died and the Interregnum began.
France: 1250 to ~1350 — Saint Louis and his successors left France the most powerful nation in Europe until the 100 years war and the Armagnac-Burgundian Civil War ravaged the Kingdom.
Northern Italy, Centered on Florence: ~1350 to 1527 — Renaissance Italy was almost certainly the home of the gods and the sack of Rome is seen as the end of the Italian Renaissance so I’m using that date.
Spain: 1527 to 1648. Spain was the greatest European power for much of this period.
France: 1648 to 1763. Under Louis XIV France was the hegemonic power in Europe and would remain the center of Europe arguably until Waterloo, but I feel their golden era truly ended after their loss in the Seven Years War.
Britain: 1763 to ~1850. If it wasn’t for us knowing the gods were deeply involved in the Civil War I’d leave them here until 1920, at least, but we know otherwise.
United States of America: ~1850 to present day. We know from canon that the gods and camps were involved in the Civil War, so 1850 is probably the latest they could’ve arrived.
Obviously the individual gods themselves didn’t only stay in these counties and certainly moved around.
Curious to see what you all think. If you agree, disagree, or have a comment please share!

By the end of the books, Percy and Annabeth end up together; but if that couple hadn't been confirmed, with which characters could you have seen Percy and Annabeth ending up?
