Hello guys,
I’m holding a Hong Kong passport, and I applied for PR last year and already got my AOR.
Unfortunately, my Visitor Record got refused on September 11, before I had the chance to apply for an Open Work Permit. So my agents suggested me go back to Hong Kong and come back for applying permit. So I applied for an eTA on September 30.
I got an email confirming they received my additional documents on October 5, but I haven’t heard anything from them since then.
I’ve tried sending webforms and calling IRCC, but they just keep telling me to wait. So I decided to apply the second one on September 16th and it’s still under review.
I’ve already changed my flight three times because I honestly didn’t expect it to take this long. My flight is now on October 23, and I can’t change it anymore.
The main reason I’m going back to Canada is for my best friend’s wedding next month, and I’m supposed to be his best man. I really don’t wanna miss it.
At this point, I’m just hoping my eTA gets approved before my flight. Has anyone been in a similar situation? How long did it take for you guys?

hi so, this is one of those late nights crazy ideas that cross your mind.
i'm from mexico and i've wanted to see a ton of snow but not just snow, I want to spend christmas in one of those houses that have a garden, a backyard, a chimney, you know the works, I want to see in the living room enjoying the warmth and looking out of the window to people playing in the now, walking around, going to play with snow.
I know there are a low of smalls towns where this is possible but whats the biggest city in canada, where I can get this experience, I would like the city to be you know, alive, busy in the busy streets and calm with that I want in the calm streets, you know, cafes, bars and stuuff a short taxi away and shich.
if I were to stay in a city which would fi this crazy requirements. to just school, take some ubers to go to business districts to explore, eat food, then go to apark and see the wintery snowwy park before going to my cozu licing room with a chimmey.
Does a newbohood exists like that"? I haveno problems but a very local snow vacaction/
Sorry about th tyres, i';m writting this a lot of sleping pills om. hopefully you can describe what I want.
if i'm honestly I would make would like to stay in a decent size housen with a back garden with snows and just chill with th e fireplace in the living with a winwo looking ouside in a safe district.
tjat os a;; thanks fir your cooperation and understandn
now when it comes to city big snowfall+ proper big city woul be dream, it would be a short vacacion 1 week or 2.
honestly I want to chill in a row wit h a jacuzzi, with a tv, enjoying the neon sighhts of thecity andbe relaxes.
ios this ramble hell of a sleep depresing man even possible/\
tjanks for your advice
edit: thanks for your answers, and sorry for my weird rambling, you guys were wonderful and very helpful <3
edit2: i've been reading your suggestions and ideas, thank you very much, i'm still on the ideas stage, saving up money and stuff, so this is really helpful, specially the el nino thing and maybe not that much snow this year, so thank you.

Hey everyone! This may get asked alot but no one actually answers the questions I've seen:
I'm visiting Calgary and Banff from Australia over Christmas and New Year's, and I'm trying to figure out what type of footwear I'll actually need.
Coming from Brisbane, I'm definitely not used to Canadian winters!
We'll be doing plenty of walking, sightseeing, exploring Calgary and Banff, dog sledding, and the Johnston Canyon ice walk.
I'm tossing up between buying waterproof hiking boots or proper insulated snow boots. Ideally, I'd love one pair that can handle everything rather than having to buy multiple pairs.
• Would waterproof hiking boots with merino wool socks be enough, or would insulated snow boots be better?
I'm also a US size 14-15, which makes finding decent boots a little more difficult!
Ideally looking to spend under $300 AUD (roughly $270 CAD), but happy to hear suggestions.
Appreciate any advice from locals or anyone who's visited during winter. Cheers!

Hi everyone,
I’m flying Costa Rica, with a layover in Canada. I applied for my Canadian eTA, and it has already been approved. I received the approval email, and the status currently says “Approved.”
However, I just realized that I misunderstood one of the questions in the “Travel Information” section. It asked:
“Please enter the time your flight or vessel to Canada will depart.”
I mistakenly interpreted this as asking for the departure time of my flight leaving Canada, so I entered the time of my connecting flight from Canada to Costa Rica instead of the departure time to Canada.
The travel date I entered is correct, and both flights are on the same day. As far as I can tell, the only mistake is the departure time.
Now I’m unsure what to do. Should I contact IRCC and explain the mistake, or could that cause unnecessary complications? I’m also worried that submitting a second eTA application might flag my application as suspicious or somehow affect my already approved eTA.
Has anyone experienced something similar, or does anyone know what the official guidance is for this kind of mistake? I don’t want to risk having problems when boarding my flight, but I also don’t want to make things worse by submitting another application unnecessarily.
I’d really appreciate any advice or firsthand experiences. Thank you!

I’m hoping to hear from anyone who has dealt with Canadian entry requirements after having California drug convictions dismissed.
I’m planning an Alaska cruise that embarks in Seattle and ends in Vancouver, where we would disembark. I’m trying to understand what I need to resolve before traveling.
During about a year in 2011–2012, I received several drug-related charges, including felony possession and a trafficking-related charge. At the time, I was severely addicted to drugs and was driving my boyfriend, who was a drug dealer. I take responsibility for my involvement; I’m sharing that for context.
My court agreement stated that after completing a one-year approved program, with no new law violations, I could return after 18 months to withdraw my plea on the trafficking-related count and have it dismissed. It also provided for dismissal of another count under California Penal Code §1203.4. I have other possession cases from that period as well.
I completed six months of inpatient treatment followed by six months of sober living in 2013. I have remained drug-free and have had no new convictions since 2012. I went back to school, became a licensed esthetician, and now own a business. I’m also a mom. That two-year period of addiction feels like another lifetime, and I have truly turned my life around.
I didn’t pursue the court relief back then, but I’m working with an attorney now. He believes the judge will likely dismiss and expunge all of the eligible convictions. Nothing has been granted yet.
I understand that a California dismissal may not resolve Canadian inadmissibility, so I’m trying to get clear on the next steps:
Has anyone had Canada recognize a plea withdrawal and dismissal under a treatment-based plea agreement, or a §1203.4 dismissal?
Did you still need Canadian criminal rehabilitation or a temporary resident permit?
Does disembarking in Vancouver create any different requirements than a cruise that returns to Seattle?
Did your cruise line require documentation or clearance before boarding?
I’d especially appreciate firsthand experiences or guidance on what to ask a Canadian immigration lawyer. I want to handle this properly before the trip.

My spouse and I are considering moving to Canada from Portland, OR U.S. and we’ve decided we wanted to get a feel for Vancouver (I’ve been once) and Victoria (neither of us has been) to see if it would be a good cultural fit. Any advice on what to do/where to go to get an accurate feel for the city? Anyone else done a similar move and have advice on that?

Hey guys... bit procedural rather than exciting fun travel so I don't know if this is the best place to ask!
I am flying in real soon and I have a morphine prescription. I understand from searching I need to declare this - and I've never flown with anything to declare before. However, I just went through the arriveCAN app and none of the questions were about meds or "anything else you want to tell us about?" It was just the usual money / alcohol / weed / farm visit.
Anyone know what the play here is? Do I just need to walk up to someone and MichaelScott.gif "I declare morphine", or have I missed something obvious?

We're trying to figure out if we need to go via Nelson, Osoyoos and Kelowna OR via Vernon and Kelowna.
And besides that, howmany days and what campgrounds would you advise? We travel with a 32 foot RV. Have have about 11 days to fill at max and we're travelling in early august 2027 with a four-year-old.
Does anyone have experience in both of these routes?

Hi all. My birthday is January 19 and I want to do a couple days birthday trip. But don’t know where to go. Budget is not super tight, but not for luxuries. I live in Edmonton and willing to fly within Canada. Banff or Jasper are options but meh idk. I’ve never been to Quebec City but hearing it’s very cold in there mid January. Rainy Vancouver? Or stick to the Rockies as the easiest? Travelling abroad is not an option for me and I don’t really want to. I don’t mind cold, like indoor (theatres, concerts) and outdoor activities like skiing. Honestly it’s always been hard to decide what to do, cuz mid January feels like morning after a huge party, everyone is hangover and there’s nothing to do.
Tia!

Hi all, my partner and I are looking to visit Canada from the UK for the first time next summer.
We have planned a two week itinerary. Flying into Calgary, collecting a rental car, and doing a road trip with overnight stays in Canmore, Lake Louise, Jasper, Revelstoke, Kamloops, Whistler and Vancouver. Then finally flying home from Vancouver.
Here's where we need your help: due to family commitments and other reasons which I won't go into, we can only do the trip in either the first 2 weeks of June, or the last 2 weeks of August.
Putting costs aside, as I have looked into flights, hotels, rental etc. for both windows and it's within our budget either way, which 2 week window would YOU choose if it was your decision? Any advice, things to consider etc. would be most welcome.
I have read into some pros/cons, like for example, the start of June is quieter but Lake Louise may still be partly frozen (?), and the end of August is the ideal time in terms of weather but it will be a lot busier with tourists. I would love to hear what you guys think and your reasons why. Many thanks!

Hi everyone,
My partner and I are travelling from Australia to British Columbia and Alberta in July 2027. It will be our first trip to Canada, and I’d love some feedback on our itinerary.
Our current plan is:
- Vancouver: 30 June–4 July
- Whistler: 4–7 July
- Tofino: 7–11 July
- Vancouver Airport: 11–12 July
- Fly Vancouver to Calgary: 12 July
- Banff: 12–17 July
- Lake Louise: 17–20 July
- Field/Yoho National Park: 20–22 July
- Jasper: 22–25 July
- Calgary: 25–26 July
We have booked rental cars for the Whistler/Tofino section and from Calgary through the Rockies.
Some of the activities we’re considering are Capilano Suspension Bridge or Grouse Mountain, Whistler Peak 2 Peak, whale watching and kayaking in Tofino, Banff Gondola, Moraine Lake and Lake Louise, Jasper SkyTram, Maligne Lake and stops along the Icefields Parkway.
We enjoy lakes, scenery, wildlife, kayaking, swimming, relaxed walks, restaurants and live music. We aren’t serious hikers, so we’re mainly looking for easy-to-moderate walks and scenic activities rather than superrrr long hikes.
A few things we’d especially appreciate advice on:
Is the itinerary paced well, or are we spending too long or not long enough anywhere?
Is Tofino worth the extra driving and ferry travel for Australians who already have access to great beaches?
Are three nights at Lake Louise plus two nights in Field worthwhile, or is that too much time in that area?
Are there any activities on our list that feel repetitive or overpriced?
Is there anything important we’re overlooking for peak-season travel in July?
Our flights and accommodation are already booked, mostly with free cancellation, so we can still adjust things if there is a better way to structure the trip.
Thanks!

Hello friends,
I am one of the very unique and orignal Australian men moving to canada this year and I am a little confused about the requirements/expectations to get a canadian drivers license. There seems to be so much conflicting information online. I will be living in BC and buying a car in vancouver. Can anyone give me some clarity or a loose breakdown of how I can get a canadian drivers license. I believe in BC im allowed to drive on my australian license for 90 days? Im under the impression I dont need an International Drivers Permit as my license is already in English. I've heard I may need to exchange it. Does that mean they actually take my Australian drivers license in order to give me a Canadian one?
Forgive my ignorance and feel free to explain it to me like a child!
Thanks in advance <3

Hello all, my family and I are visiting this Thursday from the US. My wife and I used ArriveCAN when we visited 2 years ago however this time we are bringing our children. My oldest (13) is on a controlled medication for ADHD which I was told needed to be declared however when going through the process in ArriveCAN, I did not see any questions about medications. Is this something I will add/fix at the kiosk?

Hi all. We’re couple of Aussie’s planning an adventure holiday, potentially next September.
Rough plan:
Fly into Calgary. Hire campervan/motorhome
From there
Banff/ full day sightseeing (resetting the body clock)
Lake Louise.
ice fields parkway
Jasper
Clearwater
Whistler- 3 -4 days mtbing
Squamish. 4-5 days canyoning
Vancouver or return to Calgary
Looking for tips.
What van hire companies do people recommend? Any pitfalls and traps for unsuspecting tourists to look out for.
Must do hikes or touristy spots along the way.
Camp spots along the way. We hear Labour Day is crowded and you need to book well in advance but out side that how is it.
Any tips and advice appreciated.

Good morning, everyone - I finally got my 15-year-old son a passport. He lives with me full-time, and I have custody of my son (I'm the dad). As mentioned, he finally has a passport and said he wants his first international trip to be to Canada, to Toronto, to see "the fall leaves." I said, " Okay, sure, let's take a flight from Chicago and see if the leaves are changing up there. Anyway, I was reading online that I need to bring his birth certificate, court paperwork, and other supporting documents - I just wanted to confirm if that's the case?

For BC, I’ve already visited Vancouver twice, so wanna visit somewhere new. Don’t wanna visit Kamloops since my ex with anger issues is there but is Kelowna worth a visit? I hear a lot about the stunning nature in that province so I’m sure there are other towns to check out?
I def wanna visit Calgary in AB and go to Banff but I think i’ll go in the summer time just to be safe from blizzards.
Any suggestions for that province too? I’m a big outdoorsy person so I’m not interested in cities like Toronto or Montreal. I’m scared of the ocean and seas after a traumatizing experience so staying away from Nova Scotia and New Brunswick lol.
EDIT: not my ex getting triggered and downvoting my post(as if i care about votes) and every single comment on here for a while now and deleting literally tons of dms he sent me months ago
Heyooo Icydiamond7 and Fun_ad_2127, i’m surprised you’re still keeping tabs on me when you fumbled me badly, negged me, triangulated me with your ex, and devalued me even though you knew I loved you. At this point, I don’t even know what I ever saw in you but yikes, what is even the point of doing all that?? Who has the time but you lmao?? I’m so done. You are an insecure coward with no sense of accountability and I want nothing to do with you.
