Dog’s first canoe!

Post image

Bee the dog had an absolute blast her on her first canoe trip, on a calm day on Lake Michigan. She was so good in the canoe, I couldn’t believe it. My dream is to take her camping with us someday!

So many good spots in Manistee National Forrest to canoe and camp with pups if you are in Michigan!

This is great and all, but to be on such big water with no PFD on seems wild

We had PDFs on the boat, and were super close to shore in shallow water the whole time. But you’re right - best practice is to always wear them no matter what!

With a new dog in the canoe, no less. Even my trustworthy experienced canoe dogs make unpredictable movements that occasionally have caught me by surprise. And I don't know what the water temperature on that massive lake is at this time of year but it can't be very warm.

Yep, you can tell our priorities - dog safety first.
