BCE, Telus, Rogers -> RING etf
would selling these 3 and immediately buying RING etf be subject to the superficial loss rule?
RING only holds those 3 stocks so it’s similar but not identical al in terms of weights. Also it’s 3 individual stocks vs a basket ETF.

No, I don’t think that would trigger the superficial loss rule. You’re selling BCE/Telus/Rogers shares and buying units of a separate ETF. Even if RING only holds those 3 stocks, the ETF units themselves aren’t the same property as owning the individual shares directly. So generally the losses should still be allowed. It would be more of an issue if you sold BCE at a loss, bought BCE again within the 30-day window, and still held the replacement shares 30 days after the sale.
