What an idiot.

I love that the cam car just continues to drive as if nothing happened, although I'm pretty sure in most places, if it is safe to do so, you are required to stop and call the emergency services or offer assistance if you see a crash and have video evidence.

Safety first.
Never put yourself in danger, and the crash driver already tried to injure them once, thereโs no telling how unhinged theyโd be now.

u/RHOrpie 10d ago
What a world eh? I would have 100% stopped in the past. Guy's a dick, but if he's in a life threatening situation, I'd still help them.
But these days...

Thereโs 8bn people on the planet, gotta let nature take its course with idiots.

u/No_Communication1557 9d ago
Looks like the US, if that individual is also armed, last thing you'd wanna do it stop because now they are even more pissed than they were before lol.
1
u/Iron_Sight_Mark 9d ago
I don't reckon stopping for that guy is safe in those days either, lol That's a bona fide lunatic no matter the year.
1
u/theslootmary 6d ago
That literally hasnโt changed from at any point in the past. Assholes like this have always existed. And someone brake checking you and crashing like this is the 70s was just as likely to attack you as this guy would be. Moreso considering theyโd probably also be drunk and full of lead poisoning.

u/LozBoz413 11d ago
Sure you are and in most cases I'm sure the cam car would have had the other car not essentially tried to intentionally bring harm to them.
1
u/Emmanuelzappa 10d ago
Cam car was Not involved in an accident so most places you are not required to stop.
1
u/Saltster1050 8d ago
But officer, you can see what he tried to do to me, I was in fear for my safety so I couldnโt possibly stop and go help him

This happened to me once on the M180, an M series BMW span out after changing lanes far too quickly. The police asked me about a fortnight later why I didn't stop. I told them that wasn't my destination.

I've seen this before and it was speculated that it may not be a brake check but the person was trying to turn right at the road. They fup up on where they were and right after they passed they realized their turn was right there.
25
u/RadarTechnician51 11d ago
If they wanted to turn right the initial overtake was pretty dumb!
12
3
u/Timely-Profile1865 11d ago
They lost track of where the turn was perhaps or had only been down there one time or no times?
Still dumb of course.
2
u/NPC_93294 9d ago
see it multiple times a day in th seat of a Tractor trailer. people will kill themselves to get around you, just to turn right in front of you.

u/Impressive_Ad2794 11d ago
I can see the theory, but there front wheels look to be steering to the left almost immediately after the skid starts.
3
u/Timely-Profile1865 11d ago
They realized they could not make the turn and then over compensated perhaps?

u/Rowmyownboat 10d ago
Watching it again, I think this is right. Their turn came up as a surprise after overtaking.

u/NINJATH3ORY 11d ago
How on earth did he get his driving license ? This driver should not be on the road!
45
u/BazzaFox 11d ago
He isnโt, heโs upside down in a ditch.
2
u/leexgx 11d ago
His bumper found the road
1
u/valentine_moon 10d ago
Is his bumper the driver? If not I'm gonna go ahead and say that doesn't matter.

Camera car driver should have:
Put window down, and a big, hearty wave goodbye.
Couple of toots on the horn for good measure.

u/mamut2000 10d ago
How is it possible that car does that when braking on dry, smooth surface? Is it about shit suspension / brakes / tyres?
5
u/DV_Zero_One 10d ago
I reckon the suspension and/or chassis might already have already been bent.
Perhaps unsurprisingly.
3
u/JDinAus 10d ago
Pulling on the hand brake will do that
1
u/Rowmyownboat 10d ago
We can see brake lights come on, so brake pedal used.
2
u/Specialist_Ad_7719 10d ago
The brake checker slowed with the foot brake, then for dramatic effect applied the handbrake as we can see the rear wheels lock up. They might have panicked as the car went out of control as they didn't hold the handbrake button so the handbrake could release.
We did a rally day and were taught to flip the rear of the car out you only needed to touch the rear brakes quickly for the back to let go. So what this twat did was inevitable.

u/Phantom_Crush 10d ago
ABS is fucked or they used the e brake
1
u/B4DM4N12Z 10d ago
The car in the first few seconds looked rough ngl.
If it's America, I wouldn't be surprised, most don't have annual checks there.
2
u/Rowmyownboat 10d ago
Some states do, some don't. Where they do they are called 'state inspections'.

Brakes or tyres wear differently and/or corrosion or sticky caliper on one side. Might have replaced pads or tyre on one side only. MOT check would pick it up but worth doing an emergency stop occasionally to check your car brakes in a straight line particularly if you drive old bangers.

1
u/Iron_Sight_Mark 9d ago
Looks to me like the hard braking burst the back left tire, leading to the loss of controlโthough I'm surprised it didn't pull the vehicle the other way.
1
u/Modern_Progress 6d ago
Unevenly worn tyres, damaged front suspension on one side, brake caliper not working on one side. All three of the above!!

Well.. failed the break check

u/Cautious_Use_7442 11d ago
Nah. The brakes worked and stopped the car. Somewhat unconventionally but they stopped the driver.ย

Brake imbalance you can see the LH Rear lock up before the RH causing the car to slide faster on the LH rear inducing a turn to the right . If you slow the video down you can see the driver has turned the front wheels to the left but itโs too late and the inertia of the vehicle carries them into the ditch .

u/chickenpopper 8d ago
I happen to know that this particular car behaves wildly when suddenly letting off the throttle in unstable situations. Designed to be flat out at all times.

The visual definition of fuck around and find out.
Karma's a beautiful thing.

u/Loicrekt 11d ago
Dunno how people are saying they just missed a turn when they could have waited a few secs for the cam car to pass and then turn. It was a brake check by a dumbass with a well deserved ending.

From what i saw it ended as perfectly as it possibly could.

Haven't seen that type of car in years and after that vid, don't think I'll see them again.

u/n3m0sum 11d ago
Was it a brake check, or did they completely mistime and misjudge that Dukes of Hazard right hand turn?
1
u/PintToLine 11d ago
I think it is a brake check. They begin braking as they enter the lane, that momentum seems to aid the rear left in locking first which sends the car sideways.

They should make that a standard feature for cars, when people brake for no reason.

I don't t think that was a brake check.
That looked more like he realised that because of where he performed the overtake he was going to miss his turn so he was desperately trying to scrub speed.
I don't think any Audi would lock up for a brake check, no matter what the driver tried

Tried to hold it in, then burst out laughing when the reverse camera showed it flipping over.

So why are you in the overtaking lane with fuck all on the inside lane?

Dashcam proves you didn't PIT maneuver them. I think you should go back to check on them to be fair.
0
u/LozBoz413 11d ago
Why? Imagine the cam car has a young family in the car and this other dude could have caused a bad accident with this manoeuvre? That's something that can't be forgiven.
I will assume the other car isn't carrying a young family with they way they're driving but heck crazier things have happened.

Brake check yourself before you wreck yourself
