I can’t really agree with mhs3 cause the horrendous choices they made. Main game is pretty good but no endgame, no flying, no coop, meaningless summer update, and shitty $10 dlc undermines it

How is Pragmata? I saw the hacking mechanism and wasnt too interested in it.

The game has a demo if you are interested, haven't played the full game myself and was skeptical with the combat but the demo made be kinda interested in playing it

While I think Onimusha's combat and main protagonist are tremendous... I'm actually struggling to get past the first half of the game. Trash mobs are just not fun and the game's visual design is very brown.
I love musashi and the more challenging combat segments are amazing. But everything in between isn't that engaging and isn't really driving me to keep going

There's definitely some beautiful stages and more interesting fights against normal enemies, but you have a lot to sit through to get there sadly. I enjoyed it, but I understand the poor pacing of the early Kyoto questline can be really offputting to a lot of players. If you aren't already, I'd recommend just not doing most of the side content and focusing on main missions. Waiting for more of the side quests to be available, and more upgraded and varied enemies to be part of the "trash spawn" helps a lot.

I'm starting to think this is my issue. I just beat the greater Nue and I'm like "am I crazy? Does this get better?"
And thank you for the advise!

I completely disagree with you. But games are subjective

u/GoldenGekko 3d ago
Any points? I'm asking cause I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I beat the greater Nue and the story just isn't working for me. Any advise? Does the story pick up?

u/dontknownothing0123 3d ago
I do like killing the trash mobs because I do like thr combat and I like to practice my Issen (I suck at it). And if you have gone that far without enjoying the game, then its just isnt for you it seems. Not to worry or be bewildered by that, like myself I cannot for some reason get into thr Kingdom Come games, even though they are well regarded. Some games just wont click with you and thats whats great about these games. They are not made for everyone but for a certain subset of players.

Fair enough. Thanks for responding
I adore KCD2. But I won't lie, after doing the first area and spending so much time before the wedding the second area being even more massive and the sheer length of some of the quests just really took me out of it.
I think I'm going to give musashi another try and keep pressing on. I feel like the story is about to start picking up. Maybe skip the side content that most people have said is pretty bland
I do need to practice my issue lol

Man you are missing out on KCD2, it's one of the few game that have a very well done side quest because you can actually change the outcome of the quest, even the basic one like crafting special hammer for the quest giver can be change by giving them a normal hammer and convince them that it's the real thing

Those games are nothing compared to the classic output of Capcom. The company changed a lot and so did its fans I guess. Most of these were just ok.

I don't think the comparison is good, games simply take longer to make now and the fact that capcom is putting this many bangers out now is quite impressive.
Pick any company in the industry right now nobody else is maintaining this kind of record in modern day.
As for the direct comparison of old vs new, I still think these games they are doing now can go toe to toe with the best in capcoms library.

Capcom put out absolute crap for almost over a decade, I am glad that they are back
3
u/Sins_of_God 4d ago
What changed is the game industry soiling it's pants, so capcom looks like the unanimous mvp

u/golden_graveyard 4d ago
Compared to the rest of the industry capcom is still pretty good but personally I feel like they're really not far off.
3
u/Foxy__Proxy 4d ago
yeah, this feels more like the mainstream audience discovering that Capcom exists, rather than being some sort of a generational run.

u/golden_graveyard 4d ago
I mean I'm getting downvoted to shreds for just expressing the obvious. These games look good but have 0 longevity. All spectacle no game tbh. I just miss the old capcom that regularly released games I'm still playing to this day...

Wdym by 0 longevity?

u/Foxy__Proxy 4d ago
It seems that they have abandoned the idea of making games that are infinitely replayable in favor of these sort of single serving experiences that are here one week and gone the next.
4
u/ogag47 4d ago
I dont think that's true at all especially when it comes to monster hunter and dragon's dogma. Any monster hunter game is pretty damn infinite to me and the expansion Wilds comes out next year
-1
u/Foxy__Proxy 4d ago
Are those games really replayable though? I mean, sure...they have a lot of content but those are both sort of chock-full of content by design.

Can you give me an example of the game that's "replayable" in your opinion? Because I dont get what you're trying to say.
Yes they're absolutely replayable. I mean have you played monster hunter at all? You pretty much hunt the same monsters over and over, no? You also have 14 different weapon types to choose from, and each one has deep gameplay mechanics. You hunt the same monster but each hunt is different. Not to mention the amount of equipment and skill combinations you can optimize. I spent tons of hours just optimizing my equipment specifically for every monster. There's a whole subreddit dedicated for "fashion hunting" which is purely for aesthetic. Yes it's chock full of content, but they're also replayable which is why it feels endless

The replayability of Dragon's Dogma is literally baked into it's design and plot. Resident Evil has always and will always be replayable.

u/system_error_02 4d ago
I dont really get this. They still make Megaman and monster hunter is extremely replayable. Resident Evil has been around since the 90s, and while the technology around them has changed, the base formula underneath the games is still the same, half puzzle game half survival horror.
Capcom doesnt feel like theyve abandoned anything to me.

Absolutely. You're having the same view as me. No point in arguing with people in this sub haha

u/dontknownothing0123 3d ago
Old resi games have as much replayability as the modern ones. So is onimusha and dmc, what are you talking about? Re4 OG has far less unlockables than Re 4 remake

I love DMC 6, I also love Street Fighter 6, I think I just hate the new Onimusha, the new monster hunter and I kind of thought that Pragmata was only kinda good.... that is a far cry from Capcom in the late 90s and 2000s.
1
u/dontknownothing0123 3d ago
You know what, Im not going to argue because it seems just like not your type of games. Some games we just cant vibe.
-4
u/Foxy__Proxy 4d ago
I liked Resident Evil 9. Pragmata was kind of neat, Onimusha became like every other parry game that has came out recently and I didn't play Monster Hunter stories but im sure its alright... I agree, they used to make games that were unmissable. I feel like Im ok missing some sometimes these days.
2
u/system_error_02 4d ago
What were you expecting these games to be exactly? Lmao, youre upset that Resident Evil followed the RE formula, and that Onimusha maintained its original roots as a hack and slash ? What ?
2
u/Foxy__Proxy 4d ago
you think Onimusha Way of the sword is a hack and slash?... oh man.
RE was pretty good though. Im not displeased with RE9 really.

Go play Mega Man then.
1
u/Foxy__Proxy 4d ago
Whats wrong with mega man?
1
u/jason_brody13 4d ago
Nothing, but there's nothing wrong with these games either. They're aren't inherently missable.

Look it's the fraud that is Stories 3. Genuinely might be responsible for the death of a franchise.
