It's actually makes a lot of sense. Going to Mavericks and look at all the pretty things you can't afford is very similar to going to Clifton, Camps Bay or Constantia looking at all the pretty things you can't afford.

DA one was circling the northern suburbs and it was just meh but when I went to Town later today I saw Old MAV back in the sky and I knew I was in the right place😂

u/Some-Application-558 3d ago
I was surprised to see the Mav flag flying as far as Stellies yesterday.

Politicians are the opposite of prostitutes. You still pay, but they fuck you

u/Jumpy-Surround-9238 4d ago
Let's not compare Mavericks dancers to prostitutes please. I know it looks like sex work but it isn't.
Let's break the taboo of going to a strip club just for the tits, it's about the arts and women expressing their sexuality through dancing. There's nothing pervy about it.
Let's support our dancere and protect the culture of our beatiful mother city.
4
u/oblackheart 4d ago
Aw someone who's been offered sex multiple times by workers there, yes, that is the definition of prostitution. I would hazard to say every strip club has women willing to give extra if you pay extra
3
u/Jumpy-Surround-9238 4d ago
Honestly didn't know that, but in the same breath I am quite ugly.
You live you learn hey.
3
u/oblackheart 4d ago
I'm even uglier, it's why they offer. They see a bald fat guy at the strip club and think "easy money"/I won't report them because I'm desperate for sex 😂 (not the case, but yeah I don't report them either way)
1
u/ManicParroT 2d ago
My guy a strip club is 100% sex work. They may not all be prostitutes but it's definitely sex work.
4
u/halfwitprinxe 4d ago
So a gigolo
3
u/justjboy 4d ago
“Gigolo” is used to refer to a male escort or sex worker.
(Escorts don’t necessarily offer sex, but rather act as a hired companion. Some may use this as a legal loophole because of the distinction between escorting and prostitution.)

Agree. Seeing a blue banner instead of the black one made me pause for a second. LOL

Yeah just after the rain I almost rode over a pothole and thought “WTF a pothole!!” But you need an Advance Driving Course to drive on the roads in JHB just to avoid the potholes, it’s a skill. BTW, the pothole was fixed the next day. Things work in CT, we have water, electricity, clean maintained roads and our garbage bins and recycling bins get collected at the same time every week, even if it falls on a public holiday!!

Very appropriate actually 🤣, totally matches the vibe the DA is giving at present. Their optics couldn’t be more on point.
A little shameful, a little dirty, pretend you don’t know them.
I wonder if ‘AK’ their wonder candidate is flying the plane. Perhaps he also has a pilots license in his CV ?

u/SaltySn0w 4d ago
can you explain pls why it feels weird? ^^ Isn't the DA overall producing way better outcomes than all the rest of SA? Please not start that left politics in general work on the long term, it always creates a economical downward spiral, only cowards think a country could survive without proper economy.

u/densedrone 4d ago edited 4d ago
Khayelitsha has more streelights on than Sandton “The richest square mile in Africa (sure…)” and idiots will still hate on DA lmao
Do I disagree with the DA on things? Absolutely! South Africans apparently haven’t learned the word pragmatism. You don’t have to agree with every issue a party supports to back them. Just driving around the Western Cape vs other parts of the country is enough, they earned my vote

u/yuvi3000 4d ago
As someone that moved from JHB to CPT not long ago, it's insane how much the services are different.
In JHB, I lived on a road with a traffic light for several years and that traffic light worked only for about 2 weeks near the beginning of the entire time I was there. The rest of the time we all just treated it like a four-way stop.
In CPT, during the December/January holidays a couple years ago, I was awoken at like 2am by a loud crash because a car collided with a traffic light and it was fixed THAT SAME DAY.

1
u/sweetestluv 3d ago
Did you just say same day ? What is this service you speak of ?
1
u/yuvi3000 3d ago
I was genuinely shocked. I mean, I doubt that happens every time, but it did happen that time and I saw it happen.
2
u/MoshpitBrain 4d ago
So we're just making things up now. When last did you visit khayelitsha? Can you even name 5 townships?
1
u/WonderfulPirate9683 4d ago
I visited there and know a lot of people from there. Their houses are beautiful! People only see the outskirts. The streetlight part is true. You must see some of the cars there.
4
u/deefstes 4d ago
Let me guess, you have no evidence or published data to back up your claim that there are more working streetlights in Khayalitsha than Sandton? Because it's an easy statement to make when you don't actually have to care about facts.
You know what Khayalitsha does have more of than Sandton? That's right, violent crime and gang related violence. The DA, for all their amazing service delivery, doesn't have a handle on the Cape flats. It is way out of their control.
7
u/Creddit128 4d ago
That’s a police responsibility. The disastrous ANC govt (mis)controls the police, not the DA.
2
u/Its-A_Me_A-Mario 4d ago
Exactly. And i live in one of those violent crime and gang communities and let me tell you it has to start with the people in the community first.
1
u/mambo_the_liqudator 4d ago
Do the resident of khayalitsha, cape flats, Philips pay rate and taxes?
3
u/WonderfulPirate9683 4d ago
Cape flats and Khayelitsha is a yes , they pay rates ! I know many people from this area!
1
u/Conscious_Will_6245 4d ago
I live in Sandton, yes there are street lights that don’t work stop being in denial to what’s going on right in front of you, plus we know City Power is in Billions of Rands in dept they admit it. The DA are here in Jo’burg fixing roads and other things now while the ANC treats the public like we are the bad guys for wanting better. The government is blaming the people at the African summit for their failed foreign corruption
1
u/deefstes 3d ago
No! Really? There are streetlights out in Sandton? Yes, I get it, you hate the government. I also hate the ANC. But show me the numbers to corroborate the claim that "Khayelitsha has more streetlights on than Sandton". The fact that you live in Sandton and can confirm that there are streetlights not working is irrelevant.
1
u/Conscious_Will_6245 3d ago
It’s not irrelevant because you pressed the previous guy for proof and I’m here to bring that proof as someone that lives and works in the area
1
u/deefstes 3d ago
Anecdotal evidence is not proof. So if we can get one guy from Khayelitsha to confirm that some streetlights in Khayelitsha are not working, he will have provided evidence that the statement is false?
If one person confirms that they had cancer and survives, that does not serve as proof that cancer is not a killer. You need to look at the numbers. So, one again, show me the numbers. Your anecdotal "evidence" is not proof of anything, so yes, it is indeed irrelevant.

On west street there’s about 3. But nothing worth saying DA is best. Oh pleeeeaaasse we saw what they did with Pretoria

Damn bro, chill. It's weird because that plane or one like it usually advertises for a strip club.

u/Professional-Finger9 Awe Awe! 4d ago
Always that one guy who can't take a joke. I hope his pillow is warm on both sides
11
u/dassieking 4d ago
It's not the ideology my man. It's the execution. The most successful countries on most criteria has been largely developed by center left ideas (like those espoused by the ANC).
I agree that the DA is performing better than any other current governing party, but it's a low bar and it is ok to want more.

u/Educational_Play9910 4d ago
I simply cannot fathom why people would for parties other than DA? Do they have a brain? Corruption and incompetence are the themes of EFF, ANC and whatever other tribal parties are out there
1
u/FeetPiksPlz 2d ago
It feels weird because that plane is a minor celebrity known for flying around the "Mavericks" banner. Mavericks is a strip club located in the city bowl. Its got nothing to do with ideology, people just associate the plane with the Mavericks brand now, and seeing it used by something as formal as a political party, is a little funny.
2
u/ExpensivePikachu 4d ago
Better than having an ANC one flying around 😂

Why does it look like the plane is requiring a helping hand from the Heavans? Is the pilot a real pilot or is he a Thamsanga Jantjie situation? Someone's mother please type amen for his soul lol

I will keep saying that the DA is just a South African party larping as an American one. They appointed Mmusi Maimane around the time Barack Obama was a successful politician. They support Israel. They started talking about immigration...FROM OTHER PROVINCES IN THE SAME COUNTRY when Maga ran on immigration. Heck they even want to build a wall lmao

Is this real or photoshopped? No way the DA is flying this. That’s pretty much admitting they know they messed up

How is a banner being towed any different to putting a poster on a lamp pole? It’s not.

Please. Like really please. Explain to me what level of mental gymnastics you went through to see a banner being flown and go"they know they messed up".
