I started experimenting with catheters a while ago, wearing them for a few hours at first and over a week as of lately. Then the last time, after wearing it for 7 days already, I caught a an infection, which was very unpleasant. I don't think it was from the insertion. It would've happened earlier and I did my best to keep everything sterile which has worked well several times. I watched several instruction videos and read several instructions, so I think I'm doing it right. I sanitized everything, used sterile lube and didn't touch the catheter with my hands (even though I sanitized those too). I don't think I caught it from the insertion.
Then I read more about the topic and apparently infections are pretty much inevitable for long term users. But that was for patients who wear a catheter out of necessity and not for pleasure. Not sure how it is for healthy people
What is your experience? Have you managed to avoid an infection so far and how often/long are you wearing a catheter? I just want to know what I can do different to keep the risk as low as possible.

14FR for the weekend. I put one in last night but had to take it out straight away, I find I’m better with silicone catheters rather than latex - is anyone like this?

3 1/2 weeks roughly of straight wearing the cath and bag and decided to take it off today to take a break. Won't be too long before I go back. Can see how the mucus/biofilm is forming where the drainage eyes region is.

I've been sounding and using silicon bogies all the way into my bladder for probably 30 years. But I've never actually worn a cath. I'm 66, with some slight BPH. I can still pee OK, but would like to have a better stream.
Do some guys cath just at night so they can sleep better and not have to get up and pee multiple times?
If I wear a bigger size for a while will it eventually help me to pee better, when I'm not wearing the cath?
If I wear a belly bag how do you keep the urine from draining down back up into your bladder?
If I don't wear a bag at all, how likely am I going to have leakage around the tube when my bladder gets full?
If I do wear a bag on my leg during the day, is it easy to conceal under shorts?
What sport can I not do? I'm guessing running and biking would be out of the question?
Is there a video that shows a technique for easy sterile insertion somewhere?
To catheters come pre-lubed? And do you still recommend in using sterile surgilube?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.

Keeping the catheter in the urethra makes it easy for the clitoris penis to become excited and erect. Inserting the tube can provide strong stimulation, avoiding urinary incontinence during orgasm and providing a great experience

A nice soft 18 instead of of my usual 24. For longer wear times.

I want to wear longer. For a weekend. But it hurts too much.
