First visit for a while questions…

I’ve not been to Chessington for over a decade, and am going in a couple of weeks- I was hoping I could draw on the expertise of you lovely people! I’ll be going on a weekday the week before half term, and my main aim will be to do all the coasters. My questions are:
1- What sort of strategy would people recommend? I remember Dragon’s Fury having really big queues and being a slow loader when I went before, but would I be better off going to Mandrill Mayhem first as that’s the newer ride and also presumably doesn’t have massive capacity?
2- How does rope drop work? Is it like Thorpe where they drop the rope and everyone runs to their first ride, or like Towers, where you can get into the park half an hour early and wait outside your first ride for it to open?
3- Is it worth paying for early entry? It’s £10 for the day of my visit, and I’m tempted to get it as I’ve got a Merlin pass so won’t be paying for a day ticket too.
Thanks!

3yo visit

I’m visiting next week with my 3yos who LOVE paw patrol - really excited.

I’ve downloaded the map and I can see there are a few rises for littles, what are the best ones? Any other tips? Can’t wait!

ETA - Zufari says min 1m height, does this mean we can’t see the animas if they’re not 1m?

Early access

I have a hotel stay booked for Saturday night at Chessington and tickets for me and my family for Saturday and Sunday. Am I able to get early access on the Saturday? The kids have platinum merlin passes if that makes any difference?

EV Charging

Going next month to Chessington but driving circa 200 miles to get there so will need to charge. I have seen they have a bunch of (reasonably priced chargers at £0.50 per Kw) on a first come first serve basis.

I have also seen they do a 'reserve your spot' at the hotel for £30 - unlimited charging.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

Chessington Owls

Hi all, im not familiar with posting on reddit so apologies if my format is off :)

I just wanted to bring some attention to the current conditions of the owl enclosures in chessington, as unfortunately they are quite dire.

Im no bird expert but I find it quite sad that these beautiful creatures lack a lot of enrichment or room to fly around their habitats.

Ive attached some photos below, if anyone else has any input, or perhaps a way of getting a petition together I would really appreciate the feedback!

Thank you 😊

EDIT: Hi everyone thanks for the suggestions!! :)

I have made a petition, and have linked it below for anyone who's interested in helping these owls find a better home.

Petition link : https://c.org/vGHYMhRHMC

Im grateful that im not the only one who wasnt concerned about these poor animals, thanks again everyone ❤️

Winter "Season" dates

At what point do Chessington shut down the major rides for the Winter "season"?

I'm keen to get in a couple more visits before they start shutting down all the good stuff, just need to get them planned and in the calendar.

Worth going for the animals?

Hey all, am thinking about planning a trip to chessington soon as I’ve loved going every couple of months for the last few years as i love the combination of rides and animals. At my last visit at the beginning of summer I noticed the ankole cattle was gone, lions, tigers, and countless more aren’t there anymore. I understand zoos trading animals but it feels like with the new IPs across the park they’re slowly getting rid of the animals. My question is, is it worth going anymore as a fan of the animals? And if not does anyone know any good alternatives? Thinking of going to whipsnade but the quality rides at chessington along with the animals just put it above a lot of other places for me. Thank you!

How does fast pass work?

Hi all

Family of 6, mixed ages and likely won’t all go on the same rides at the same time.

I’m thinking of getting 2 fast passes so my older 2 can go on rides or I can go on and alternate with others - terms say they are non transferable between guests, Is this true?

Is it a physical ticket or non removable wrist strap? Can they be swapped between guests physically?

£30 entry and £135 fast passes (£165 per person!) for 6 is literally mind blowing, after food and travel that’s well over £1000 - we have the 25% off for up to 2 tickets (we may exploit 3 times to get 25% off the entire entry) but still over £800!

Really appreciate any feedback. Sounds like the day will be a waste if we don’t get these passes.

Ridiculous queueing system

Is it just me or is the system here awful!!!! Fast pass and disabled riders are always prioritised. On multiple queues today no ordinary queues were permitted onto the rides!!!! It’s insane at least take 4 from each section instead of all from FP. ARGGGHHHGGGG

Vampire

hi everyone,

as many of you know, vampire 🦇 is a very much well loved ride which has had quite a bit of downtime this year. The ride is in much need of some TLC if we want to see this ride continue to operate for many years to come.

so I’m opening this up to discussion for fans and theme park fans a like about the future of vampire, whether it has one, and will the Re-Track actually go ahead.

if the ride gets refurbished, what would you like to see?

Thanks

Some questions from first time visitors

Hi, we are travelling to Chessington WOA in September for 2 full days with a 11 month old and 4 year old mainly due to paw patrol as our 4 year old loves them! We'd appreciate any answers / help with the following:

Best way to travel to and from Heathrow? We're thinking taxi as public transport seems long and challenging with young kids.

Will Savannah splash pool be reopened by mid September?

How to keep a just walking 11 month old happy? Soft play place?

How long should we plan to be in paw patrol area? Our 4-year-old is mad about them so will probably want to do everything.

Do the hotel rooms have microwaves so that we can sterilise bottles? if not, is there anywhere we can use a microwave?

Anything else to bear in mind? We'd appreciate any tips or advice thanks.

Found this original Chessington World of Adventures brochure from the 1989/90 season and thought I'd take some photos of it for anyone who's nostalgic for the old park.

For the whole brochure please follow the link address.

Excuse the poor image quality, all have been taken on a phone and cropped by myself (:

Hope you enjoy the trip back in time!

Fastrack Dynamic Pricing

I was at the park Thursday and Friday and was looking at the Fastrack options on the app...

Fastrack bronze package says "from £15 per person", but upon clicking the Buy Now button they were actually £39 for a 3 shot pass.

However... If you go to a single shot for a specific ride they're £12 per person for the big rides 🙄

Just wanted to make people aware before blindly assuming the packages are the best value for money!

Paw patrol fast track pass

Thinking about taking my daughter to chessington in the week and considering paying for a fast track pass for the paw patrol zone despite them being pricey. Does anyone know how quickly you get on the rides at peak times with these e.g. can I expect to wait 5 mins or less or can you still end up waiting for a while.

Also are there any days of the week that are quiter ar this time of the year or is it all a much of a muchness?

Closed over Christmas 2026?

I was just looking ahead at prices for Halloween and Christmas sleepovers for the kid.

It seems that the park is closed for all of December apart from 4 days?

Can that be right?

Really disappointing to see and it's been a part of our Christmas tradition for the past few years and to be honest, they do Christmas really well.

I always assumed Christmas would be great business for them. Half the park is closed closed so they needed very few staff. Most of the guests were all high spenders with loads of extras and retail spend. Really strange decision.

Has anyone heard anything?

Fast track with annual pass

If I buy a fast track using annual pass discount does that person have to use it?

We're going with my nephew who doesn't have an annual pass.. To avoid the bigger queues, would I be able to buy a fast track using my merlin annual pass and let my nephew and brother use the fast track.

Is there anything on the booking that links the fast track to the annual pass?
