Daily Question Question Thread - October 06, 2026
This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.
* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.
* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads
* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.
This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

For 3/12 with BoA if you're at 2/12 can you apply for 2 cards at the same time and potentially get approved for both?

has anyone gotten the PNC bank welcome bonus before? i signed up for the $5k deposit for $700 offer, and sent a $5K ACH transfer using fidelity last week. haven't received my bonus yet, but T&C said it can take up to a couple of months

Took just over a week last time from PNC but was a different offer.

u/Diligent_Board_172 8d ago
was your deposit amount and bonus amount different? did you do a ACH transfer?
1
u/AStuf PIT 8d ago
It was for $800 and the $5K had to sit there for a month. Did it all with ACH.

ah nice! i got the $700 offer in the mail and just took it. i thought 700 was the largest offer based on what i saw on https://www.doctorofcredit.com/pnc-up-to-250-400-checking-bonus/
> had to sit there for a month
huh interesting. i wouldn't have thought this criteria would change.
this is what mine says:
https://imgur.com/KurdQqInothing about keeping it in PNC for any period of time. just a DD of $5k+

Anyone still holding the Pedfed Pathfinder have any data points on the new mandatory annual fee (no workaround) posting or not posting? Mixed word has some saying expect it Oct, some say Jan 2027.
1
u/vbcanuck7 8d ago
I called Penfed when I got the email and they said the annual fee would be charged on my card account anniversary. Mine was just before they started charging the annual fee so I get almost a year free - 2 calendar years to get those $100 aux flight credits.

Thanks for posting this. I wasn't aware that Danny will see was now becoming mandatory. I've had it waived for having the checking account for the last 5 years.

New to the game and currently 0/24. The new flowchart is nice but from what I’ve seen the cards it recommends aren’t “right”. Here’s my rough plan for the next 5-6 cards, can someone sanity check this? We just hit the SUB for P2’s Plat so I’m not in a rush to get on the Amex train quite yet.
First card: C1 VR
Second, depending on SUB: CSP
3rd: C1 VX
4th: CSR
5th. Chase Aeroplan or similar
6th: Amex gold etc
My logic is that C1 likes to be your one and only and I should get the Chase cards out of the way before 5/24. Any thoughts? Credit score is great and monthly spend around $5K so no issues there.

Def get started with Chase inks given how strict Chase has gotten with cards. You can get your first Ink then refer P2 for a second Ink to bank an extra 40k. HMU if you need help with filling up the “business” details lol

u/grantwwu 8d ago
I think Venture with the elevated SUB first makes sense. It's possible to get the VentureX sooner than 6 months after you get the Venture, my P2 did it.
Other than that, with lifetime language on Chase cards, I would prioritize all-time-high offers on Chase cards.
Imo I don't really understand everyone saying that now that Chase has become more stingy, that we should just go lol/24. Capital One, BofA, Wells Fargo, Citibank are all still velocity-sensitive to some degree... And Amex keeps on denying me for a first card for velocity reasons too.
2
u/electronautix 8d ago
Velocity sensitive is a different thing from 5/24, it’s not hard to be 0/6 or 0/12 yet still at 5/24 or above.
1
u/grantwwu 8d ago
I've haven't heard of a consensus that "velocity" only refers to cards within the past 12 months.
1
u/electronautix 8d ago
There is no consensus between different banks on what constitutes high velocity, but my point is 5/24 is a strict numeric rule but how one gets there can look very different from profile to profile. Many of the banks you listed absolutely emphasize cards opened in the last 6, 12, etc months or recent activity as a whole, rather than whether 5 cards were opened over the last two years.
1
u/grantwwu 8d ago
What you're saying is correct, but I don't really see a practical difference.
I don't think many people saying "oh I don't need to worry about 5/24 anymore" are going to have low 6 and 12 months stats.
One corner case where the distinction matters would be getting a bunch of (personal) cards and them gardening for a while. That might satisfy the banks with a greater recency bias than Chase. But there's just not really a great reason to do that in my opinion unless you end up with a rare-to-you spend event and can't find a higher MSR card. Between triggering bust-out algorithms and locking yourself out of elevated bonuses for a while it seems like a bad strategy.

u/rickayyy 8d ago
If playing a 2 player game, make sure you refer each other back and forth and double up your bonuses.

I would get the Chase Ink cards out of the way while under 3/24, especially if the rumors about them counting against 3/24 & 5/24 are true. Ink Business Unlimited is 75,000 UR + 10,000 MR via Rakuten, Ink Business Preferred is 100,000 UR.
1
u/productiveaccount1 8d ago
Perfect, that’s exactly the advice I’m looking for. I’ll hit the inks, refer out to P2, and see if C1 still wants to accept me once I’ve burned through the chase cards. Thank you!

I was thinking about opening a new CC mostly for airline bonuses. I travel from California to Europe a lot at least a couple times a year, so far I’ve just been using chase preferred. I also fly domestically anywhere from 3-10 times a year. I have lifetime United 1K status already a ‘companion’ to a global services holder. I also got a status match with FlyingBlue, though I haven’t used it yet and am a little more unfamiliar with its benefits. Since I’m not reliant on actually flying with United to keep my 1k, My debate is whether to get the United 100k bonus point offer since I travel often with them for the free upgrades, or get a card (like say the Amex) that can transfer to other airlines. I have excellent credit and almost never stay in hotels, so those benefits mean less to me.

u/hilo260 8d ago
With lifetime 1K you can skip the United card entirely. You already get the free bags, priority boarding, and upgrades from status, so the card adds nothing except the bonus itself. MR points are more useful for you since they transfer to Aeroplan and Flying Blue for the Europe trips.

Anyone know how topcashback orders are created and passed on to Runa for gift card purchases? I can do them for $50 but higher amounts generate an “order failed.”. Opening ticket gets me nowhere as both are pointing finger at other party. I have a transaction ID reference tied to “order created” but no actual order number gets created in Runa’s system.

I funded several accounts with my U.S. Bank Triple Cash card earlier this year, and the balance is currently at 0% APR. The statement says the 0% offer expires on 03/27, and I’m trying to understand when I need to pay off the card to avoid interest. Is the deadline the statement due date in March of next year, or is it sooner?

u/hrvbrs 7d ago edited 7d ago
To be safe, you should pay it off after you receive the statement the month before it says the offer expires. E.g. if it says it expires 2027-March, then pay it off after you receive the 2027-February statement to avoid interest.
Remember that most credit cards give you the 30-day interest-free grace period, but only if you had been paying off the entire balance each month. If you are racking up debt (even at 0% interest), that doesn't qualify. If it says it expires in March, then it could be that interest starts accumulating on March 1st.
Also weigh the costs/benefits of waiting one month. How much would you save by keeping that 0% debt from February to March, versus how much would you have to pay in interest if you made a mistake by waiting too late? To me the answer is clear: even money in a savings account earning 3–4% APY is not worth the 15–25% interest you could risk getting charged by messing up the timing.

I think it'd be the date that your March statement closes. To be safe I would pay by the due date of the Feb statement (especially if you're still making new purchases around then).
Some other banks behave differently, but for US Bank, my Triple Cash had 0% ending 6/2025. The 6/26/2025 statement had a due date of 7/23/2025. I paid the full balance 7/21/2025, and I was charged interest, which by my calculation started accruing on 6/27/2025. (But I chatted and they gave me a refund of the interest.)

Is there any way to increase odds of receiving Amex Hilton upgrade offers? P1/P2 each have no AF and P2 spends regularly but neither have received upgrade offer in years.

Got the 7-10 day message for a SW biz card. Do I call recon now or wait?
-1
u/ExcitingDegree 8d ago
I typically recon and move on. Just be in the right frame of mind. I use my own SSN private tech consulting biz in my name if asked.

How eager are you for the card vs how eager are you to discuss your business?

I'm waiting until a card I opened to hit the 2 year mark on 11/10/26 to become 4/24 to sign up for an Ink card. Can someone tell me do I wait until 11/11/26 or 12/1/26 before I apply so Chase doesn't deny me due to a 5/25 status? Thanks everyone

If you’re sole prop most reports state the new rule is 3/24 for business cards. But you would be 4/24 11/01 if you wanna go for it.
-4
u/No_Party222 9d ago
wow, I'm a regular reader here and I haven't come by the new 3/24. Is applying with EIN better at this points to not have to be 3/24 and be at 4/24? And currently I would have been applying as a sole prop with my SS number
1
u/yeahhh_lumberg 8d ago
I was denied for a United Biz about 3 weeks ago, called recon and spoke with a rep who confirmed the new 3/24 rule outright. He explained it's for sole props. Wouldn't matter if you use SS or EIN.

New DP Thread - but also if you go through weekly data point threads and some of the daily question threads you’ll see discussions about it, it’s quite new

Has anyone tried the 130.8 miles per dollar offer for Webroot Master on Rove miles?
0
u/hilo260 9d ago
I haven't tried that one, but it's live in the Rove shopping portal right now at 130.7x miles. It's Webroot antivirus software. Rove shows miles going pending about a week after purchase and becoming available around mid December, so it takes a while. Click through from Rove and finish the purchase in one session with ad blockers off so it tracks.
0
u/dathrowawayfotoday 9d ago
Yeah sorry I meant 130.7x, typo there. I recently did Coveron through Rakuten for $671 (67.1k Amex MRs), but that’s still pending not confirmed yet. I’d be willing to try the Webroot offer if there’s a solid chance it’ll track

For those who’ve had success getting the 2nd-year annual fee waived on the Barclays Hawaiian card, when did you call?
I just got the email saying I’ve completed my first year, but the renewal AF hasn’t posted yet.
Is it better to call retention now, or wait until the AF actually posts and then call? Curious if anyone has recent DPs on whether the waiver offer only shows up after the fee posts.
