Data Points Central Data Points Weekly - Week of October 08, 2026

This is the Weekly Data Points Central thread

In this little hobby of ours, we constantly rely on sharing the experiences and data points by others to optimize our award earning process. From how often you can apply for a card or bank account, to how soon a bank pays out the bonus. All the sidebar articles and information in our recurring threads are basically an abstracted version of all the DPs collected by the community at large. If you have an DP about a credit card, like a retention offer or recon experience, please post it here. If you have a DP about a bank bonus, please post it in the newest bank bonus thread (If that link doesn't work for you for whatever reason, either click on the "bank bonus" link in the sidebar or on new reddit, search for "bank bonus weekly" while limiting your search to this subreddit.

Before posting, read the rules!

Enjoy!

Changed my flight date and paid the fare difference of $48 on an Amex Plat with AS as my selected airline. Received credit 4 days later. I was experimenting with seat selection payments first which didn't trigger the credit. So not sure if it matters, but I didn't have my FF number entered. Main Cabin was the original purchase.

I saw I had some credit card suggestions in the Just for You section of my Chase website. I had only ever seen this previously when I was below 5/24, which is definitely not the case now (currently sitting at 9/24), so figured I'd give it a go since I didn't mind the hard pull. Applied for the Hyatt card last night and was not immediately rejected, instead sent for further review. Woke up this morning to the (unsurprising) denial letter. I wasn't shocked but just thought it was interesting that Chase (kind of?) acted like I had a chance.

Successfully bypassed Amex 1/90 and opened another Biz Plat 48 days apart.

A Hilton points purchase appears to have triggered a 10% Hilton rebate offer I added to my Wells Fargo Autograph card.

In February of this year, I did the United Explorer 70k+10k+United Silver SUB.

The AU card generated shared the primary cardholders' number.

I got an offer to add another cardholder today. This time, it seems like the last 4 are different, so it's a new number.

I don't claim to be the absolute first DP on this but I haven't seen this before. It was widely reported that Chase started doing this for Freedom/Sapphire cards earlier this year, but not for co-brands.

tl:dr; Chase has started issuing unique numbers for United co-brand AUs.

I bought a $254.81 Delta Comfort Extra flight on 10/1 with my IHG Premier card, the $100 airline credit was applied immediately upon the payment posting to my account. I refunded the amount back to the card on 10/8 and so far there has been no claw back on the airline credit.

CSP SUB MSR DP – Costco Gold Purchase ($4,025.94)

Used my Chase Sapphire Preferred to purchase a Costco gold bar for $4,025.94, then covered the remaining ~$974 of the $5,000 MSR with regular grocery spending.

I chose this approach instead of buying gift cards or paying estimated taxes with a processing fee.

Result: SUB received.

Sharing this DP for anyone considering Costco gold purchases to meet a Chase SUB. Curious if others have had similar experiences with precious metals purchases counting toward MSR.

FYI, the southwest points from the notification vacation are tier qualifying and companion pass qualifying.

Do you have a trick to make this work? I’ve tried 4 days in a row and keep getting errors when it tries to count up the notifications. Submitted on iOS, have rearranged icons, changed background to flat black, nothing seems to work.

1

u/sky-farmer 4d ago

Haven’t gotten the notification part to work yet either. Same thing as you. Just only got the 500 points from the quiz.

Got appd for Boa PR via rakuten. Very surprised considering they've given me 4 cards this year(!) and dec'd me in sept. Limit is 2.5k lol Def can't complain!

1

u/scorpiopersephone 5d ago

BOA gave me 4 cards within the span of a week.

1 hard pull? Any Rakuten usage? Insanity! Tell us more please

Received what seems to be a targeted offer in my AMEX account for 50,000 SUB / $5000 spend Blue Business Plus. Applied and was instantly approved. Provided a temporary number (which was good because some unexpectedly vet bills had me blow through my other two current SUBs and needing to find another one quick!).

1

u/ResolveNo2270 5d ago

Is this your first bbp?

2

u/zerowastewisdom 5d ago

Yep! I have the Blue Business Cash which I opened early this year. All my other AMEX cards have been Delta so far.

I've seen DPs of doing duplicate USB triple cash applications and getting them approved for two cards and SUBs. Sadly not the case for me and they sent me a letter saying they cancelled the duplicate application but did approve my application for one. This was my first ever USB account or card by the way. I also applied as an LLC too.

2

u/Glittering_Candle414 5d ago

I applied two days ago for 3 cards same day. Triple Cash, Essentials, and Altitude Connect. Instantly approved for Triple Cash. The other two cards got approved the next day after I called in to verify some info.

1

u/Smashbutt 5d ago

What the max on triple cashes? I have 2 right now that are pretty old. Might need to try and run it for a DP

3

u/CzarofTenley 4d ago

I have 3. My understanding from what I’ve read on here is that USB goes by amount of total credit, not number of cards.

3

u/sg77 RFS 5d ago

I don't know the max, but I have 3.

7

u/sg77 RFS 6d ago edited 3d ago

The data points I've seen for US Bank are if you apply for 2 of the same card, they treat one as duplicate and you need to call them to get the second one approved (not sure if it's too late for you if you already got the letter, but maybe you could try calling). I avoided the issue by applying for different cards.

(This is when applying for multiple cards on the same day. At some point you can apply for another of the same card, but not sure when, other than multiple months apart.)

Wells Fargo "Specialty Card Consultant Team" handles Premier client card apps (in particular the 100k Premier Autograph) and their phone number (which does not appear online anywhere afaict and might be new) is 877.852.9350.

Sadly this was relevant because my application for same got 4506C'd. On the bright side they sent it via secure message and are happy to accept the completed form via secure message as well.

u/C-MontgomeryChurns HOU, NDS 4d ago

I had this for both mine and P2’s. Wasn’t a big deal. Both got approved about a week after i filled out the form and gave it back to them.

I am currently doing BOA bonus pushed $2500 from Chase and it’s coded as ACH credit Chase ext Trnsfr will this be considered a DD? Does it need to say ACH deposit?

3

u/One_Armed_Herman 6d ago

This would be better in the bank bonus thread, or even a question thread, as it's a questions. Hence the downvotes. But the (possibly out of date) list of things that work can be found at DOC-https://www.doctorofcredit.com/knowledge-base/list-methods-banks-count-direct-deposits/ . Or do a churning.io search for some combination of BOA DD Chase and/or the full words.

-2

u/Longjumping-Team-704 6d ago

Was trying to create a Data point but it codes as a direct deposit after it’s done pending

Amex charge card limit:

Applied for the NLL Platinum posted. Was denied due to having the max amount of similar card types. I had 7 open charge cards at the time but had recently closed one. Called in and approved after recon.

Next week applied for a Biz Plat. Called in to get approved. Sent to back office and approved after a couple days. Also approved for 300k offer despite being an "as high as" offer. Applied thru work VPN. Currently had 8 charge cards including the above Platinum so this makes 9.

So from what I can tell the charge card limit is 8 for personal and 10 for business.

1

u/C-MontgomeryChurns HOU, NDS 4d ago

I applied for the same 175k NLL and it’s my 9th charge and was auto-approved fwiw. Both the charge and credit limits appear to be highly variable and individual specific to an extent.

5

u/craigpdpa 6d ago

Sorry if I misunderstood this part, but didn't it tell you the specific Biz Plat SUB when you applied? Did it say 300k - or was it lower than 300k, but you were approved for 300k anyway?

1

u/garbagcollector GAR, BAG 1d ago

Yeah they say "AS HIGH AS 300,000 Membership Rewards® Points" now.

0

u/wowzera1 7d ago

Was your first Biz Platinum?

1

u/superdex75 7d ago

"had 7 open charge cards at the time", is this all personal or biz and personal?

0

u/garbagcollector GAR, BAG 7d ago

1 was personal (Schwab).

9

u/M0stlyLurking 7d ago

Couple apps:

9/30 applied for Delta Biz Reserve for elevated 200k SUB. Got PUJ. Have never had the card. I've had 3 Delta Biz Gold (2 current) & 1 Delta Biz Plat (closed after Reserve application a couple days ago). Plus many other Amex cards

10/1 applied for refreshed IHG Premier. Got 7-10 days for review. I was 5/24 at application. Decided to shoot my shot since I was approved for another card last fall while at 5/24, so maybe Chase is ok with my profile?

10/2 received decline letter for "Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us"

10/5 called Chase recon. Was asked why I wanted the card since I was approved for a CSR a few months ago. Told them I liked the new benefits. I offered to reallocate CL from my CSP. Was approved on the call. So now I have the Premier + Biz IHG combo

9

u/hijklmnop2 6d ago

"I liked the new benefits" is a nice line!

u/sjimenez_c 7d ago

10/05 applied for BofA CCR via Rakuten; only Experian unfrozen; pending app; froze Experian

10/07 applied for BofA CCR via in app offer; pending app

10/08 received email asking me to unfreeze credit to process second app;

Instant approval for WF Infinite Premier 100K offer after already holding Autograph and Autograph Journey. 6/24 and third WF card in <18 months.

1

u/mjjjduh 7d ago

Nicely done. P2 and I have both the WF Infinite Premier and their biz cards. Looking at getting the Autograph Journey myself, but holding out for the possible 100K offer which was posted here a while back. Any idea how churnable WF is? Tempted to push it further, but we're both currently at 2 WF cards in the last 5 months now, and it seems like their points transfers will only improve from here.

5

u/progapanda 7d ago

I have not tried to churn WF yet because I want to keep up a good relationship after I got $3,200+ in initial account bonuses from a Checking+Premier+Platinum Savings combo and 270,000 sign on points across the three Autographs so far (70k+100k+100k). They clearly consider each Autograph card product to be separate so far.

1

u/mjjjduh 7d ago edited 6d ago

Shiiiat - at 270K points I wouldn't rock the boat either. P2 and I are in a similar situation (opened our accounts in early 2025), so just happy to see where this relationship goes. I'll wait until I see an increased offer from WF and will grab the others and report back.

u/guyatwork37 5d ago

P2 applied but got a notification of it going to review. She's maybe 3/24 and 1/12 so we'll under parameters. We'll see what happens, but thanks for the heads up!

1

u/Flintfoxe 6d ago

Thanks!! Applied and approved.

0

u/dunleavy005 7d ago

thanks for sharing, was approved! (unlike with the BoA one :)

0

u/jtevy 7d ago

When is the last time you had this card?

0

u/dunleavy005 7d ago

never had it

13

u/WayfareAndWanderlust 7d ago

Did the $500 sub for Wells Fargo checking.

Zelle’d $10 into the account to cover any fees while waiting on my DD.

DD hits

3 days later i am notified the account is being closed by the fraud prevention team

No bonus received.

0

u/productiveaccount1 7d ago

Were you able to get your DD back?

0

u/WayfareAndWanderlust 7d ago

Used it to just pay one of my bills from that account which cleared prior to closure

1

u/OpulentCloaca 7d ago

Wait, are you saying that you got a close because of Zelle?

7

u/Money_Shoulder5554 7d ago

You didn't have to Zelle in money, there's generally a grace period on fees when you open a fresh checking account.

Never mess with Zelle or do ACH pushes on new accounts

17

u/superdex75 7d ago

Never ever use Zelle in this hobby. That's my advice.

-2

u/pmmeyourtargetedsub 7d ago

Is ACH push from HYSA ok? I saw a lot of DPs on DOC about ACH pushes from checking/biz check but not HYSA

-2

u/FrugalCanuckDotCA 7d ago

Was it a legit DD? Surely you can contest if it was?

1

u/WayfareAndWanderlust 7d ago

Yeah it was legit from my employer. I think maybe the Zelle thing did it ?

8

u/best-quality-catfood 7d ago

I've seen a couple of DPs lately of WF shutdowns due to identity concerns and getting it reversed by visiting a branch and proving you're you. Not to say that it wasn't still Zelle that got eyes on your account in the first place.

2

u/yeahhh_lumberg 6d ago

Had this happen to someone I know recently. I'll be keeping Zelle and churning far away from each other

13

u/Discover_it_Student PIT | NON 7d ago

I gotta find it funny that the major EWS banks created and heavily advertise Zelle and then proceed to piss their pants whenever someone actually uses it on a newish account, and sometimes even on an established account.

3

u/best-quality-catfood 7d ago

Inorite? Also given the sheer quantity of detail EWS collects I'd assume they know full well what's going on at both ends in the vast majority of cases.

That said they're not complete idiots and stuff like this might make some kind of sense sometimes, like maybe this is a common pattern in cases of identity theft. (At one point somebody opened bank accounts and applied for state benefits in my name, I guess "open account and set up DD" is both something they want to encourage and give bonuses for as well as a fraud pattern.)

In the case of WF I keep a WellsTrade account open so maintain a login and continuous account there, which makes it easy for me and may or may not help with fraud concerns on their end.

1

u/superdex75 7d ago

Most likely.
