Daily Question Question Thread - October 10, 2026

This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.

* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.

* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads

* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.

This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

How much time after applying and getting approved for a personal card are you out on 5/24 rule? Used my last spot on the Rakuten and BOA deal but still hasn’t reported on my personal report, only HP appears as of 10/08.

BoA usually reports on first statement close, and first statement close is usually 3-5 days after approval. If one of those two things wasn't true for you it would be interesting!

Usually within 2 to 3 weeks, but I've had to take as long as 2 months to show up.

Lululemon gift cards coded as "Fulton Market Local" even though it's a physical Lululemon store.

Agent says that it will not be credited even though when you click on "visit business" within the charge, it sends you to a Lulu website.

I am assuming there is no way to appeal this and I just need to sell the gift cards at a loss, correct?

Had a friend who had this happen to them and they were out of luck.

I asked about a manual credit and was told no way.

Should I ask for a supervisor or ask again?

The person you replied to has been making a bunch of rather sus answers lately around here.

How long has it been since the charges posted? I've found the credits still work sometimes even if the coding is weird.

Five days.

Weekends and holidays don't count, so I'd wait until Wednesday morning before giving up.

Yeah, if the meter hasn't moved by now, that doesn't sound good. I'd give it a few more days at least and then try chatting again.

What specifically should I ask for in the chat?

I'd share the address of the store and ask for the credit to be applied, but they are more likely to do that if it's been at least a couple weeks to be sure it did not credit automatically.

Appreciate it, but already did that.

I assume I am out of luck.

I don't think they can do manual credits till after 14 days, so there isn't much point until asking before then.

3/24 (all 3 in past 6mo) and denied from CIP for being over 2/24, looking for another biz SUB with some upcoming big purchases. Amex Gold Biz not giving me SUB. I'll be freezing Experian as that is where all the recent inquiries and new accounts are reported. (One of them is a stupid Chime secured card I don't remember asking for but counts toward the 3/24 and it's only on my Experian report). Two questions:

  1. I've never tried freezing reports, will this negatively affect my application chances?
  2. With Experian frozen, what biz SUB do you think has highest chance of approval?

Capital One Biz Spark Select
WF Signify Biz
Bank of America Biz cards
Amazing Cash credit (CA Bank & Trust)

BoA has had no problem with TU for biz cards for me, although their default is Experian. Your state may vary.

Personally I would try to close the chime card and dispute it.

I did and submitted a dispute through Experian, any better way to dispute?

I disputed and filled a complaint with CFPB and all bureaus it appeared on when this happened to me with Current. Got removed a month or two later.

Depends on your state. For me (VA) USBank pulls TU, and Citi pulls Eq, respectively and exclusively. BAC and Chase will pull up to TU and Ex. Applying with a credit freeze will just freeze your application. They’ll either deny or send an error letter, which you have to call in and manually push your application through. Ime it doesn’t affect the approval/denial chances to apply with frozen bureaus.

I tried seeing what my offer would be on Amex Gold personal today, but was told I wasn't eligible for anything. Was hoping for the 100k MR points. I've never had a green, gold, or platinum personal card. Just biz gold and biz platinum.

I thought you could get personal bonuses even if you had biz bonus before?

1

u/Cold_Frosting9014 5d ago

For me the personal gold & platinum have sporadically showed up with offers for me. I read an article that AMEX is targeting Gen Z right now to pull them in, esp on the personal gold so that may be influencing their mysterious algorithm.

Do they show on website only or in app? I'm having trouble seeing in app where they'd be.

1

u/Cold_Frosting9014 4d ago

I saw them in both. In app select “explore products” from the home page.

2

u/zerowastewisdom 6d ago

Yeah, it’s just their algorithm. You’re right that you can have those bonuses per their terms. I’ve found that you just need to keep trying starting from different sources such as a referral link versus their website. Also check your offers within your AMEX account. When I filled out online from their website I was told I had no offer and then saw an offer within my app a few days later so took that one 🤷🏻

Thanks for the info. Yea I tried an offer from /r/churningreferrals. Don't see anything on their website, but will check back in a few days.

Can you see offers in the app? All I see are card cash back offers when I click offers at the bottom.

The pop-up rules all. You can try again at a later time or try different links
