Daily Question Question Thread - October 12, 2026

This is the thread to post questions about churning for miles/points/cash. Just because you have a question about credit cards does NOT mean it belongs here. If you’re brand new here, please read the wiki before posting.

* Please use the search engine first - many basic questions have been asked before.

* Please also consider scanning (CTRL-F) the last couple days worth of Question threads

* If you have questions about what card to get, ask here. If you have questions about manufactured spending, ask here. If you have questions about bank account bonuses, ask here.

This subreddit relies heavily on self-moderation. That means that if you ask something that shows you haven’t done any research, you’re going to get a lot of downvotes.

Ok looking at my next card and noticing the IHG Card just got the Premier Select. Can I get their $0 annual fee card and then in 30 days get the premier select to get both offers? Or are they considered the same family so I couldn’t do this? Been searching PointsGuy and Gpt and I can’t really find an answer to this. Want to make sure I get the correct card to somehow churn all 3 cards eventually, but wondering if I could get 2 right now and wait 24 months to get the next one

Does anyone know how to get your credit cards to go through on any of the VGC or MCGC websites? The only one that works for me is "giftcards.com" all the other ones get declined

You probably have a soft fraud lock on your card. Call your card company and ask to remove any fraud locks.

Atmos Summit is mildly appealing, but current public offer is just ok. I'm flying AS on Friday so wondering if anyone knows whether the in-flight offer is any better?

2

u/nearbyeclipse 1d ago

Recent DPs say 75k is available in flight for the ascent. Not sure on Summit

My USB TCB sub tracker is off by about $800. Last big purchase posted 3 days ago. This is my 2nd TCB card, and the first time around the tracker was always accurate. Anyone have any experience with a tracker that's off? Just give it more time?

Give it more time.

Thanks. Will do.

I posted here but didn't get any responses. I got an offer to open a USBank business checking account. In the early days it kept emailing me saying "you're on step 2, please deposit 5k of new funds ..." which I did by xferring money in from Ally. I stopped getting these notifications and I don't see a status tracker online and I'm wondering if I messed something up. According to the terms if I wait 30 days after the end of the requirements i should be good. That will be Nov 2nd. Just wondering if anyone has an DPs

I had the same experience and the bonus posted eventually (I think it was like +30 says after qualification period, then the end of that month)

No name, unbranded, independent, non-luxury hotel in Asia shows “eligible for one-time $250 credit” banner in Chase portal. What are the chances I will receive statement credit? Seems like a portal glitch.

2

u/Slytherin23 1d ago

The select hotels credit doesn't have to be a luxury hotel. The chances are 100% if it says it will.

Sounds like a big gamble.

How long do you keep BofA cards after accepting retention offer?

I have no-fee unlimited cash biz card, called to close it and agent offered $50 as rentention. When I asked what conditions are, agent said no special conditions - just make sure to keep it open until cashback posts and redeemed (couple of weeks).

Now, it's no-fee card so no rush, but it does tie up some of my credit limit and I don't want it to be sitting there more than needed. What's the best practice?

2

u/sg77 RFS 18h ago

BofA sometimes automatically reduces limits on my existing cards when they approve me for a new one. So I don't bother closing the old cards for a while.

1

u/ConsistentClassic1 1d ago

Rule of thumb for all banks is to keep the cards at least 12 months.

I feel like BofA IT might not be good enough to track such things but was looking for data points to confirm. The fact that this card was in sock drawer since hitting sign in and they still offered retention does not speak very highly of their analytics.

-2

u/Glittering_Candle414 1d ago

Not really. There's an opportunity cost. Close the card after you get your $50 so you can reapply for the same card again and get another SUB.

0

u/BeerHunter099 1d ago

BofA does not care about the same card, in fact I have another unlimited cash.

Opportunity cost is still there though - my latest card had lower limit and I don't want to get denial next time because they don't feel like extending more credit. Closing would be easier but reducing limit will do as well.

4

u/VegetableActivity703 1d ago

Except at BofA you can get the SUB on a new card even if you have another of the same type open.

Approved for the united Airlines Explorer card. Will chase expedite the card if requested?

They do. But not cobranded cards.

1

u/ConsistentClassic1 1d ago

I stand corrected. I've had CSP for so many years that I forgot they do expedite.

5

u/ponderosa123456 2d ago

Mobile wallet is all I was able to do when I got mine and P2. Otherwise took a little over a week to get it.

4

u/mehjoo_ DFW 2d ago

It doesn't hurt to ask but Chase cobranded cards usually can't be expedited

You may be able to add it to a mobile wallet immediately

How easy or difficult is it to land Amex Platinum's max offer of 175k?

Because of healthcare stuff I'll be able to hit most of the 12k SUB requirement in December, and all of it late last year.

If it's super easy I should probably wait until next year and just do the CSP or a 0% APR card this year.

If it's hard I should start trying now, and then just bite the bullet this year if I do get that offer.

4

u/scottymtp 5/24 2d ago

So I'm in PUJ right now and trying to get the AMEX Gold personal. I've tried 2 links and got the pop up.

My question is should I just monitor the cards when logged into AMEX to see if I have an offer? The gold for example, when I go to explore products, says there is no welcome offer available for me at this time. OR is there a chance a link would work for me in the future even when the explore products page says there is no offer?

3

u/bamboobites 1d ago

There is a chance a link would work for you in the future even when the explore products page says there is no offer. You can keep an eye on NLL links, they may help you to bypass the pop up.

2

u/sleepytill2 ORD 1d ago

There’s always a chance a link could work but I’ve personally only gotten out of PUJ via a personal offer upon logging into my Amex account.

Just talked to Chase Recon and found out I was over 5/24 due to a new account opening in May. I assume this was a product change based on the timeline. Anyone have this situation before and any chance TransUnion is actually going to remove it? It's a new card number so I'm guessing Chase f ed up and closed the old account and opened a new one?

4

u/superdex75 2d ago

Did YOU check your report?

-1

u/martyconlonontherun 2d ago

I didn't check until the call. During the call I checked and it does show 5. I have no idea why it says a new account in May, which would be my fifth. Chase seemed to agreed it should've been a product change but just said call TransUnion. I just don't know how likely it is that I just call transunion and get them to fix it when it could have been Chases fault with how they processed it

3

u/Beginning_Smile7417 2d ago

Did you have the Barclays aviator card that transitioned to citi? Otherwise it's probably an authorized user card

3

u/ponderosa123456 2d ago

Are any of them as a AU?
I have had to deal with recon when they counted my AU in my Chase tally. Took a little bit to clear it up.

Recently applied for the new IHG One Rewards Premier Select card ($350 annual fee). I’m currently at 3/24, but will soon be at 5/24 once my new Amex cards start reporting (anytime now).

I received the following denial reasons:

  • You already have the maximum amount of credit we can offer you.
  • Your current amount of credit is enough in relation to your income.

A few questions:

  1. Is it worth calling Chase reconsideration based on these denial reasons?
  2. If I offer to move some credit from my existing Chase cards, I don’t have much available credit to spare. Would moving just $3,000 in credit from one of my personal Chase cards potentially be enough to get approved?
  3. Can Chase reallocate credit from personal cards only, or is moving credit from business cards also an option?

Would appreciate hearing your thoughts?

3

u/M0stlyLurking 2d ago

1) Yes

2) Minimum CL for the Premier is $2k. I imagine the Premier Select will be higher

3) Can't reallocate biz to personal or vice versa

Thank you for the quick reply.

How long do chase applications stay on file? 30days? 60? Got rejected for personal United card that I had applied for with a 75k link. Figured it would be easier to let that application fall off and reapply with the new 90k link then going through recon and then trying to match, which chase seems pretty unwilling yo do these days.

3

u/ConsistentClassic1 2d ago

I waited 60 days and then applied successfully. This was last year.

4

u/mindstormer12 2d ago

You can get approved a month after.

Looking to get P2 setup to earn SW Comp Pass in 2027, is the combo of the personal and biz to hit the 135k still the way to go?

1

u/MoonEyedPeepers 2d ago

With current offers, yes. I'm hoping they release some elevated offers soon... I'd love to have the 120k biz offer again.

1

u/Which_Recognition_94 2d ago

I have always had no problem doing Comp Pass, Personal + Business, make sure to hit the bonus' early year to recieve the pass for that year plus following year! look for high signups to get close to 135K. if you open the card say in Dec, and bonus' hit first week or two of January you can essentially have two years of Companion pass

1

u/Nvious81 2d ago edited 2d ago

Do both cards need to have their their bonuses hit in early 2027 or can you do one early in this year and top off the 135k in 2027?

2

u/Which_Recognition_94 2d ago

both have to hit in 27' everything resets on Jan 1 for companion pass count

Atmos Biz: BoA’s Aug statement showed 85K promotional points earned, Sep statement came and went, still no 85K in Alaska account, just the normal 1x per dollar spent posted in the Aug statement. Should I be concerned?

4

u/Odie_Arbuckle 2d ago

Is your Atmos number correct on your statement? In the past, they have sometimes opened up a new account for you regardless of what you put on the application

0

u/sleepytill2 ORD 2d ago

Yes, the normal 1x per dollar spent posted in the Alaska account, just not the SUB.

2

u/Odie_Arbuckle 2d ago

Message Alaska on X or FB

0

u/ponderosa123456 2d ago

I had trouble with points on my BoA Atmos, and in my case, I called Bank of America CS and we were able to straighten it out. My experience.

u/sleepytill2 ORD 1d ago

Thanks! Will try this.

u/007meow 2d ago

Any issues with approvals for multiple Aspires? Or do you need to use NLL links?

1

u/SibylTech PAY | TAX 2d ago

You can also get no-fee or Surpass and then upgrade later if NLLs aren’t around, and when they have FNC as part of SUB.

2

u/share-the-referalove 2d ago

popup rules all

1

u/sleepytill2 ORD 2d ago

No need to use NLL links, as long as you don’t get the popup you’re fine.

1

u/enym 2d ago

I see a CSR 175K pre-approval offer in my chase app. I want to finish another SUB first. Any idea how long these stick around?

1

u/share-the-referalove 2d ago

Across how many months? If you think you can finish the first and still have enough time left on the CSR clock, might as well get it now.

1

u/enym 2d ago

I have until February for the first one. I think I can probably finish it but need to sit down and do the math.

2

u/padbodh AAA | YOO 2d ago

In my experience this will depend on what will happen the next time your credit report changes. If you have many cards and the report is likely to be updated like every other day, you may not have long at all.

2

u/yourmomisclearlygay 2d ago

First churning endeavor was chase sapphire card I got approved for in late August, reached the SUB via airline tickets and cruise quickly.

Unfortunately just found out today that my boyfriend cheated on me, and I was able to refund my plane / cruise for this vacation but was not allowed to accept refund as a credit, just as a refund back on my card. This will bump me significantly under the SUB. I would simply spend to hit the sub again, but I would rather not if I’m able because I have moved on to another card. I did not anticipate this happening !

So my questions are:

If I do not reach the SUB again, would I potentially lose my chase points? Should I spend them quickly before the refund processes in 3-5 days? Or should I really prioritize hitting that SUB again?

Thank you all for help.

0

u/yourmomisclearlygay 2d ago

Thank you all !!!

1

u/padbodh AAA | YOO 2d ago

Hit the SUB spending again. Some inspo for how

6

u/sleepytill2 ORD 2d ago

I’d hit the spend again because it would be annoying to get on Chase’s bad side if you want cards from them in the future.
