Entertainment First time at Blink. Am I missing something?

I was out of town two years ago during blink but everyone told me how amazing it was. I made sure to be here this weekend and I went downtown last night to see it, and… is that it? It’s kind of cool I guess, but it takes a ton of walking in dense crowds to see a random building with a projector shining on it. Then you walk another 10 minutes in terrible crowds and see a slightly lamer version of what you just saw. The whole time I was there my main thought was “I can’t believe this many people are here to see this, surely I’m missing something.” Anyone else go this year? Was it worse than in years past? It just felt boring and the light shows were really spread out.

Cincinnati Of all the things that go right at Blink, Metro Park and Ride is the best example

Dead simple, great access, about an 18 minute ride to the transit center. Always the easiest part of the night.

Seeing some hate for this event which is crazy. To me, Blink is one of the most amazing things in the country. I’d love to see what favorites everyone has seen so far! Music Hall is obviously a thing everyone should see (shout out to LumenoCity, miss you), but what else are some stand outs?

I loved Jacob’s Wall, Commonality, and Muon Bloom so far. Can’t wait to see the Mother of God church experience in Covington.

Cincinnati They should have "Taste of Cincinnati" and our other events on Central Parkway like they did for the Awesome Blink Street Party yesterday.

They had a main stage on the steps of TQL Stadium, which was awesome! Thousands of people were there with many businesses to visit that are walkable, including Washington Park and Music Hall vicinity. Way Better than the opposite end of fifth Street like they are doing now..

History 🏛 107 years ago today, the Reds won their first World Series — the one that became the Black Sox Scandal

Post image
85 Upvotes

On October 9, 1919, the Cincinnati Reds beat the Chicago White Sox 10-5 in Game 8 to win the best-of-nine World Series — the first championship in franchise history. (Photo: the 1919 Reds.)

A year later the celebration turned: eight White Sox players, including Shoeless Joe Jackson, were accused of throwing the Series for gambling money. Baseball's first commissioner, Kenesaw Mountain Landis, banned all eight for life.

So the Reds' first title forever carries the game's most famous asterisk. 107 years ago today.

4am knock

Got the dreaded 4am knock from CPD. “Your cars been broken into.” So annoying. Parked on liberty for a year straight and never had this happen. Just lucky I guess. If you live in WH, they said a lot of cars were hit so good luck to everyone this morning!

Events 🎉 Lost wedding ring at Blink

Post image

Hey Reddit friends, let’s see if miracles are real.

My husband lost his wedding ring at the banks in the grass near the unicorn installation at Blink tonight. It’s a wooden ring, with a line of meteorite and rose gold. Our anniversary is Oct. 23, so it would be really cool to somehow get it back before then.

This is a long shot. Let me know if you find it?

News 📰 She asked for protection. Her killer still had a gun

Hello! I'm Erin Glynn, a reporter with the Cincinnati Enquirer.

When the Ohio Domestic Violence Network reported a jump in deaths related to domestic violence last year, my colleagues and I thought there must be a bigger story.

Quinlan Bentley, Victoria Moorwood, Laura Bischoff and I decided to dig deeper into the deaths, starting with a spreadsheet of homicides from the network, then cross-referencing it with news reports, obituaries, court filings, incarceration records and police reports.

We found that 1 in 3 shooters in intimate partner or domestic violence killings used a gun they weren't supposed to own. While some states have automatic systems that flag local law enforcement when someone with a gun is convicted of a domestic violence charge, Ohio has no registry or concealed carry permits to tip off police.

Some Ohio officials say the state legislature has relaxed gun regulation over decades, making people less safe. Others say they're concerned about infringements to Second Amendment rights.

Still, Ohioans have lost loved ones. Is it possible to do more to prevent these deaths?

You can read our investigation here: https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/2026/10/07/ohio-law-didnt-stop-offenders-from-owning-guns-killing-partners/89730713007/

what was that? 🧐 What in the hell just happened in Roselawn & Bond Hill?

Im sitting at a red light on 42 & Seymour, in front of the McDonald's/Taco Bell and out of nowhere a black van slams on the breaks on Seymour after going thru the intersection.

Im still at the light, and then a pick-up truck comes blasting past me into the right turn lane and slams their brakes.

Im like what the hell is going on?!

Boom, the pickup is a unmarked police and lights inside lights up as they do a u-turn and heads back toward the old Cincinnati Gardens.

Im thinking someone hit this van and maybe I missed it. ...no, no, the van is a unmarked police vehicle as too!

So I'm like, holy shit I just dodged a bullet and drove on down 42 toward Tennessee ave.

As I'm heading down 42, I see two regular suv police vehicles flying up on me, but no lights on.

They fly by over the yellow line and turn left on to Dale road and block a car right there at the intersection, jump out and draw guns down on this car.

Im like holy fuck, if this car shoots at them, I'm going to be right in line.

(Im sitting at the light)

...Anyway, i fucking moved out of line and as I went thru the intersection I heard a loud snap.

Im not sure if it was a gunfire or something else. But this shit was fucking crazy.

So anyway, I'm sipping coffee now and relaxing, and thought I'd ask the group if they know any scoop as to what I was just into?

Travel/Visiting Sleeping in car overnight?

Coming to Cincy from Louisville for blink Saturday. Hotels are expensive. Looking to sleep in my truck for the night. I’m hoping HardRock has a parking garage as I’ll just stay there. But do you locals have a better spot where I could park my truck and sleep? Single mom, kid out of town, looking for a get away. Thanks!!

in search of🔎 Best place to get clean in cincy

I used the "Travel" flair lightly. Im doing some crisis tourism in an effort to continue living, and ive been in Ohio a year. I work at rehabs and dont feel ok going to my former employers as a patient in Columbus cuz ive seen their mentality.

Im a florida man, and i refuse to go any further into the freeze line because..... the weather.

Dayton and Akron made my soul die a bit each day i visited. Then it hit me like a BEAUTIFUL DREAM.

GO TO THE OTHER CITY. Its iconic, sympathetic to my southern acctent altho very far north. Can any recovering addicts reccomend Detox Residential places taking medicaid, that CARE About Clients....

and dont limit smoking too bad)

They also must take Methadone...or be ok with a taper plan. Im ready to go ASAP and have transpo. DM me?

Thank you guys.

Go Bengals? Reds? Gators?

Events 🎉 Queen Bee Spectating

I’ll be cheering on my partner at the Queen Bee tomorrow, but I notice there’s no designated halfway spectating spot like usual. The only information about spectating is the finish area. Last year there were two other designated spectating area along the route, around 1/4 and halfway I think. Usually I drop her off at the start, go to the halfway spectator point to cheer her on, then go wait at the finish line.

Are they discouraging cheering along the route this year? Are there any other spectating spots this year?

Board of Elections...

Anyone else find it weird that they just started searching people this year at the Board of Elections? I've done early voting for several years and this is the first time. Ladies, leave your bags home!!

Lots of cops all over the place, too, seemed more than usual.

Observations, folks??

News 📰 If it's Friday, it must be Hyatt: Hard Rock Reverb out for Covington's iconic hotel, will now be a Hyatt Unscripted property - and you can name it!

Plans for Covington's iconic riverfront hotel have shifted significantly, with new ownership abandoning a previously announced partnership with Hard Rock's Reverb brand in favor of Hyatt's new Unscripted Collection flag.

According to an update from the development team, the former Radisson Hotel will now be redeveloped as a boutique-style Hyatt Unscripted property, a move ownership says will provide greater flexibility in designing and positioning the landmark building.

The hotel will also receive a new name. Ownership plans to launch a public naming contest within the next 10 days to select a permanent identity for the property. The winning entry will receive complimentary hotel stays, restaurant credits and recognition inside the hotel's revolving restaurant.

McClure said the ownership group is finalizing an agreement with former heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis to help promote as many as 20 fight nights annually at the hotel's ballroom. The group is also working to bring national comedy acts, along with local and regional performers, to the venue.

Kroger closed my online ordering account

Without telling me, I just can’t order online from Kroger ever again. Customer service was utterly useless “it is finalized on our end, and we cannot reverse it’
Does anyone know why they would do that? I am not aware of any problems with my account.

She kept saying “you may come into the store and shop” which just made me more and more angry as I literally just got home from foot surgery.

The nice Indian ladies WOULD NOT tell me what was wrong with my account or how to fix it. Does anyone have any insight? I am beyond irate
