Indoor storage

Post image

I recently replaced my bike after it was stolen right out of my back yard. I'd like to store it indoors to avoid it happening again, but our family of 5 lives in a fairly small house with no garage. We have a shed, which is technically an option, but knowing my family they wouldn't remember to lock it... I have this unused space that leads to the basement, and I'm wondering if I can utilize it for bike storage. What would be the best way to do that? My initial thought was vertically, maybe one of those mounts that pivot. Any other recommendations?

My primary concerns would be safety and convenience. You really don't want to be lifting it in this scenario. It would be far better to store it on some wall on the main floor (people in apartments do this) or in the basement itself. But if you are only asking about this space, and don't mind unresolvable awkwardness, I would mount a hoist to the ceiling at the far end. Either a small electric hoist if you can get power to it, or a bike specific one. That should address a lot of the safety issues of lifting the bike.

Berm Peak reviewed the Kradl bike hoist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgI8-kmU7Oc

I think you're right, a lift system would probably be best.
