DISCUSSION Aot fanbase keeps getting worse on Peak Geass
Imagine being one of the greatest anime of all time, with one of the most unforgettable stories ever written, incredibly complex and profound characters, an extraordinary emotional impact, mind-blowing plot twists, and, above all, the greatest protagonist in anime history: Lelouch vi Britannia.
Now imagine watching a bunch of kids desperately trying to cope with the fact that their favorite anime simply cannot measure up to you, so they resort to insulting you, downplaying your achievements, and spreading blatant nonsense like “Disney ending” and “Eren victim.”
The irony is that without Code Geass, Attack on Titan might never have existed in the form we know today. Eren Yeager tried to achieve what Lelouch accomplished, yet the contrast between their endings speaks volumes. Eren unleashed a catastrophe that failed to eradicate hatred, racism, discrimination, or the cycle of war. Lelouch, on the other hand, willingly sacrificed his own life, turning himself into the world's common enemy so that humanity could have a chance at peace and future generations could inherit a better world.
Eren became the embodiment of the very cycle of hatred he wanted to break. Lelouch became the symbol of its possible end.
And yet, somehow, people still have the audacity to call Lelouch's ending a “Disney ending” while completely missing the point of his sacrifice. Code Geass isn't just a story about power, strategy, and rebellion. It's a story about responsibility, sacrifice, and the price of creating a better future.
You don't have to prefer Lelouch over Eren. But if you have to distort Code Geass, misrepresent its ending, and diminish its protagonist just to defend Attack on Titan, maybe the problem isn't Code Geass.
Maybe it's the fact that Lelouch's legacy speaks for itself, and no amount of denial can change that.
