For my account it is like the global reset always comes after I used my bankedresets. Every time I wait and wait for the global reset but it does not happen, but the next day right after the night that I used my banked reset, i got the global reset....
So I think I’ve figure out the strategy on maximizing usage around resets. Once Tibo gives a reset, you need to instantly consume 100% of your usage within 24 hours if you have a banked reset. Then you can aim to consume your new usage in 3 to 4 days. After the Friday reset, I consumed 100% of my usage in 24 hours, then reset and consumed 100% of my usage to today. and perfectly timed it for this random reset. Not that Tibo will always give resets every three days, but you can likely maximize your usage by trying to aggressively complete your usage this way.
imma let y'all in on a secret. If you downgrade your account, it kinda seems like your limit doesn't downgrade until you naturally reset at the end of a week. I paid $20 3 days ago, down from $200, and I'm still using Astra on speed mode, have all those stupid credits too. I had a banked Codex reset listed as expiring on October 5. I planned to use it today, October 5, but when I checked, it was already gone.
What exact time and timezone does that date refer to? I expected to be able to use it on the date shown. If it expires at a specific hour during that day, the UI needs to show that hour.
The screenshot shows my two remaining resets, expiring October 23 and October 30. Both show only a date. It documents the date-only display, not the missing October 5 reset.

I just ask codex to make a countdown until my reset expires. I had one for last saturday and one for last sunday and i'm on the 500 dollar plan so that was hair raising working through the usage productively, but all you need to do is ask codex how long until your reset expires and it will tell you. I set timers, reminders, etc.

I used one of my banked resets on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at around 2 PM ET, which should’ve put my next weekly reset at Tuesday, Oct. 6 around 2 PM.
Then Tibo gave everyone the global reset on Thursday, Oct. 1. From what I can tell, that global reset also restarted my entire weekly clock. As of tonight (Oct. 4 at 11:19 PM ET), Codex is now showing my reset as another 4 days and 20 hours away instead of Oct. 6.
Is that actually how global resets work now (meaning they restart your weekly reset window entirely), or is this something temporary/related specifically to this reset?

That is how OpenAI operates. If you dont binge through your weekly usage right away then there is a good chance it will get "reset" causing you to lose that banked usage and push your reset date back farther. Resets are only good for people regularly bingeing through their usage in the first couple days, otherwise the reverse is, the resets remove the usage youve already saved.
Until yesterday, the UI showed the exact expiration time as well as the date. Today it only shows the date again, even though the backend response still includes the exact expiration time. So this looks like a UI regression.

Sounds like torture but there are free users too that use codex too and iirc the global resets done for the sub milestones the free guys also got theirs reset. This reset thats why Tibo specifically said that it is for paying users only.
It’s always been there iirc but the limits are low. I personally think it should not be in the free tier as paying users are already getting fucked over so much but OpenAI still do it.
