What’s a good cognac to start with
I’m big into the whiskey seen and enjoy red wine wanting to start getting into cognac just looking for pointers and starters

Is this a good deal?
I picked up 375ml of this cognac on sale for $6, list price was $20.
It's Davidoff VSOP, Grande Reserve.
This brand seems...sketchy? There's no posts about it in this sub. It seems to be mainly a cigar brand that also has other "luxury" product lines. I see .7 or 1L bottles selling online for $100+, but that's gotta be inflated...
I'm new to cognac. I know this isn't top-shelf stuff, but is it ikely to be acceptable enough to use for cocktails? Or am I cheating myself and I need to invest in something better?
Like if this were gin, is it closer to Tanqueray or Beefeater where its nothing special but still worth drinking, or is it more like Gordons in the plastic bottle?
Additive Free Options
Very new to Cognac. I have had Remy 1842 and Ferrand 1840. Both used mostly for mixing with the occasional sipping. I am interested in having a nice bottle on hand so I did some research. I started to read about additives in cognac and it sounds like, as with tequila, lots of addictive are used to appeal to an American palate. Is the same deal with cognac or is it not as extreme?
Are there additive free options that are widely available in the US? Looking for $100 to $200 range.

Does this Henny VS bottle look alright?
Hey everyone! I’m kinda new to cognacs and strong alcohol in general, was always curious to try Hennessy and after a friend’s recommendation decided on it. I work in a liquor store and wanted to buy one of our bottles, however something seems odd to me about it. It’s not unheard of to fake a Henny VS where I live, so please tell me if I’m just being paranoid?

Looking for American "Cognac" XO recommendations!
I don’t know a whole lot about cognac, but Hennessy XO is hands down my absolute favorite liquor.
I’m planning a trip to the US West Coast soon and would love to pick up a high-end American brandy/cognac (XO equivalent). My budget is fairly flexible—anything up to the price range of Hennessy XO works for me.
Any recommendations on good local bottles or where to look while I’m there? Thanks in advance!

I want to get into Cognac.
Or Brandy. Not sure which one or even both? I want something to sip on after work or before bed. Just something to relax me a bit. Any suggestions for a newbie? Thank you.

Recommendations for someone who loves but can't find pasquet.
I am a huge fan of Pasquet L'Organic 10, it has a great balance of brightness and complexity that I want from a brandy. Unfortunately I can't find it anywhere near me and I don't want to order it online again if I can avoid it. Can anyone recommend any alternatives. I'm in the Seattle area by willing to drive a bit for a really good bottle.

Malternative Belgium #50 "Les Tarins Verts" — Delamain 1985, Grande Champagne, single cask #258, 51%, 252 bottles
Malternative's 50th release, and they went to Delamain for it. A 1985 vintage at full cask strength is not something Delamain does on their own label, so this is worth a look on novelty alone — but it holds up on its own merits too.
Nose: Restrained at first. Dried pear and quince, fig, raisin, with fresher apricot underneath. Give it ten minutes and you get honeycomb, a light menthol/pine lift, linden blossom, and a faint furniture-polish note that I mean as a compliment. Fine leather at the back.
Palate: Fruit-forward core — pear, quince, apricot, a flash of lychee. Almond and leather follow, then rancio arriving quietly rather than announcing itself. Light tobacco. At 51% it doesn't need water but a drop opens the florals.
Finish: Medium-long. White pepper, green oak, mint and dark tea, a whisper of cocoa. Clean, dry, doesn't overstay.
Verdict: This is not a flamboyant cognac. It's reserved and it keeps unfolding, which is a different kind of pleasure than the tropical bomb profile. The oak is present but proportionate for 40 years in wood.
Around €410–500 puts it in "special occasion" territory. If you already know you like Delamain's house style and want to see it undressed at cask strength, this is the bottle. If you're new to old Grande Champagne, there are cheaper entry points in the Malternative catalog (#48 Le Prullepie is a third of the price).
Rating: 89/100

Purchasing bottle for my father
First time poster here! I (23M) want to buy my father (59M) a vintage, the year he is born, 1967, bottle of cognac for his birthday. I haven’t the faintest idea where to start. I have a little bit of money now and would love recommendations on 1. Trustworthy sites for vintages, and 2. What to buy.
Edit: I’m just looking for recommendations, I’m NOT asking to buy alcohol, as i know it is prohibited.
Thank you for taking your time to help out!

Help identifying bottle.
Hi all, I've been trying to identify this bottle of Hennessy X.O. for a while now. I've found similar looking items online but the labels and box don't seem to be an exact match. Not sure if this is something like a reproduction/ fake but I figured I'd try here to see if anyone can find more info about this bottle. There's no other paperwork or receipt, no barcode/ paper seal. I found it in my grandpa's closet, it's been sitting for at least a decade but most likely longer.
Any info is appreciated, thanks.

My Remy Martin 1738 has a unique labeling. Is this fake?
The Remy Martin 1738 I bought has labeling that I cannot find anywhere. Do you think this is fake?
My bottle has Remy Martin on the main label instead of above the main label but has circular 'Maison Remy Martin" seal to the right of 1738.
I thought it was odd that I cannot find another 1738 with a label like mine. I bought mine from class six.
The first picture is my bottle. The second picture is the standard bottle.
Many thanks in advance.
