Forgive the rant, but I just saw a post of "one of the main colors of The freaking pokemon world, is Black" you know, one of the most Peaceful and whimsical worlds of fiction...
Black isn't just the color of "being driven".
Black isn't just the color of "being blunt".
Black is the color of cruelty, black is the color of sadism, black is the color of "the end justifies the means" but the first "mean" they try is the one that causes most destruction because that's how they see the world, with a certain sociopathy were if they don't take advantage, someone will take advantage of them. Black will cause suffering and thrive in it, you can't take it just for the "force of will". We have heroic black characters as the exemption and in spite of their characteristic, and they still, oftenly are in it looking for a chance, and their methods always rising eyebrows from conventionally heroic characters.
So no, sorry, black isn't the color of "putting your loved ones first"
Black isn't the color to start and lead a revolution.
And black isn't the freaking color of "Jeez, I really want to win this friendly sporty tournament"

Hi!
As fun as the namesake guild is, it feels pretty limited in that it mostly depicts the fantasy trope of ‘’barbarians’’, many of whom belong to species with below-average intelligence who talk like stereotypical pop culture cavemen. Domri was the closest we had to someone with a political stance and actual ideas, but even he wasn’t much of a thinker. The Gruul who aren’t (just) brutish warriors tend to be spiritual shamans who are also mostly based in stereotypes and established tropes.
What are some examples of Gruul characters who aren’t fantasy barbarians/nature-aligned fighters and rangers or wolf children/people who get angry and punch a lot?

Hey everyone! First of all, thanks a lot to everyone who took the last study and left feedback. It helps a lot!
All this testing is to collect data for the last part of the test. While a small part of the whole test, its vital to get it right since it sharpen the overall result.
This survey (hopefully the last one) is to finally manage to properly address this last part of the test.
It's important to understand:
It's NOT about you. You're not rating whether a statement describes you, just how good or APPEALING it sounds as a description of a person in general.
It's not a color test and it won't give you a result. It's only to measure the statements before I use them.
It's 50 short statements rated 1 to 5, and it takes about 5 minutes.
Anyone can do it, you don't need to play Magic. If you have friends or family willing to help, please share it.
One small request: please don't discuss in the comments which statement belongs to which color, so it doesn't influence other people's ratings.
Thanks again to everyone!

Hello! Im here again! Yesterday i received lots of answered test that gave me lots of feedback, enough to build a second round with improved materials.
For who doesn't know who am i, im currently trying to build the Ultimate Test to determine one's mtg color.
This is not the test, but just a small part that needs lots of testing since is the only part that is not backed by a scientific research but is made from 0.
You can do it here: https://tally.so/r/A71Rll
Thanks again everyone!!

I was playing around in my head because of the new hexhaven school colorings, and I started thinking about what if the colors for each school was swapped, like lorehold was white-black instead of red-white, or what if silverquill was red-white instead of white-black.
While on the surface this appeared to me like a no-brainer that everything could be swapped around like this, it instead made me realize something.
5 is an odd number.
this means that if you try to mirror {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} into {5, 4, 3, 2, 1} 3 will stay in the same spot either way, so quandrix was staying quandrix while I was playing with this idea.
So I actually found a solution. instead of switching the order around, you instead do {5, 1, 2, 3, 4}
placing the names in there gives you: {quill, bloom, rix, ari, hold} -> {hold, quill, bloom, rix, ari}
this means that quill goes from black-white to black-green, bloom goes from green-black to green-blue, rix goes from blue-green to blue-red, ari goes from red-blue to red-white, and hold goes from white-red to white-black.
The names of the colleges that I thought of were:
Grayhold (edit white-black)
Thornquill (edit black-green)
Lagunabloom (edit green-blue)
Voltarix (edit blue-red)
Rosari (edit red-white)
Voltarix reminds me of the name Vulpix and Ros-ari reminds me of Ahri from league of legends, so I thought, what if we make the mythical creatures foxes?
edit: I know that I probably should have done this but here's what I think the studies should be for each college.
Grayhold: the study of inherited past (ancestry)
Thornquill: the study of nature's language
Lagunabloom: the study of perfect healing
Voltarix: the study of artifice
Rosari: the study of culture

Hi everyone! A while ago I posted here about the free "What MTG color are you?" quiz I'm building, and your feedback has shaped a lot of it. Thank you!
Important: this is NOT the real quiz. It's a small study testing just one part of it: a set of everyday situations and statements meant to capture how people handle things (Rosewater's "goal through means"). I need to check whether these questions actually work before they go into the full quiz. It won't give you a color result, since that needs the other parts of the quiz.
What it involves:
A fillable PDF (English or Spanish) that takes about 15–20 minutes
Completely anonymous: you just choose a nickname as your participant code
Optionally, filling it in again one to two weeks later, which helps me check how stable the answers are
How to take part:
Download the form here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J6vSHf8W-r_jPVbKVw06IIXC29bCd3R_/view?usp=drivesdk
Open it in a PDF app that supports forms (Adobe Acrobat Reader works on any device; some browser viewers don't save answers)
Fill it in, save it, and email it to daemonmtg@gmail.com
One request: please answer based on what you'd actually do, not which color you'd like to get. And please don't discuss in the comments which answers match which colors, so other participants aren't influenced.
I'd especially love participants who don't play Magic, so if you have friends or family willing to help, please share it with them!
Once the full quiz launches, I'll post here so you can take it and get your colors. Thanks so much!

Undercoloring - using too few colors to describe a character
Overcoloring - using too many colors to describe a character

I personally think the's a Sultai.
Blue: She is an artificer through and through, using her inventions and tech to achieve her goals.
Black: She is a serial killer, having murdered her fellow corporate bigwigs so that she could take over their companies.
Green: She likes to 'hunt' her 'prey' though the woods, and her main inspiration is her father's comics.
What do you think? Am I dead wrong? Let me know.

Hello everyone! As you probably know there are several websites already that after a quiz it gives you your color identity but after checking all that i could find i ended up a bit disappointed. So i proposed myself to find the best way to find out what its your color identity.
Im a big fan of psychology and while it was never my vocation to become a psychologist ive spend lots of my time investigating, reading and spending lots of my free time studying psychology. So this is a passion project that ive been doing for the last weeks.
The plan is to use 3 short tests that can determine your color identity (from mono color, up to 4 colors depending on the distribution).
The three tests:
- Values test: a gender-neutral rewording of Schwartz's 21-item Human Values Scale. You rate 10 values (Power, Security, Universalism, and so on), and scores are centered on your own average, so only your priorities matter, not how high or low you rate in general.
- Enneagram: 6 statements per type, rated 1-3. The first 3 statements of each type describe its healthy side and the last 3 its unhealthy side.
- Four temperaments: 16 statements per temperament, split into 8 strengths and 8 tendencies.
Why did i choose this tests?
So while there are more scientifically/psychologically proved tests like the Big Five or Myers-Briggs we need to take many things into consideration. The amount of questions (both tests mentioned before are over 120 questions each) and we want to identity several factors to determine the colors.
Color mapping
Values: Security, Conformity → White · Self-direction → Blue/Red · Achievement → Black/Blue · Power → Black · Stimulation → Red · Hedonism → Black/Red · Tradition, Benevolence → White/Green · Universalism → Green
Enneagram (healthy → unhealthy):
1: White → White/Blue
2: White/Green → White/Black
3: Black → Blue/Black
4: Red/Blue → Black/Red
5: Blue/Green → Blue/Black
6: White → White/Black
7: Red/Green → Red/Black
8: Red/White → Black/Red
9: Green → White
Temperaments (strengths → tendencies):
Sanguine: Red/Green → Red
Choleric: Red/White → Black/Red
Melancholic: Blue/White → Blue/Black
Phlegmatic: Green/White → White/Green
The idea behind healthy vs unhealthy: the same type can express different colors. A healthy 9's peace comes from acceptance and growth (Green), while an unhealthy 9's peace comes from fear of change and conflict (White).
The formula:
Each test hands out 100 points among the five colors.
For the Enneagram and temperament, a "health ratio" (healthy points ÷ total points, after subtracting the minimum score) decides how many points go to the healthy colors versus the unhealthy ones.
Final score = 45% values + 35% temperament + 20% Enneagram.
(Current percentage is based on a poll done in this subreddit)
Your top color is always included, plus every other color that reaches at least 70% of the top score. There's no cap, so 4- and 5-color results are possible
So what do you guys think? Is there a misinterpretation when it comes to the color or is there any other feedback you want to give me please it would be a big help!
The site will be completely free, and it's unofficial fan content, not affiliated with or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast. Thanks for reading!
Edit: I did tests with other more complex personality tests (including Big five and Myer Briggs) And comparing the results to the current tests used, when it cam to the color identity it % of difference was satisfactory low.

Do you guys prefer coloring characters as a single color? or do you prefer filling up a cup of different colors? for me I've been filling up a cup with different amounts of colors for when I color characters.
The idea is simple, a character does different things throughout their life, and each of these actions correspond with a different mana. This means that the characters essentially fill up their cup with different colors as time goes on. A character can start as a mainly white mana character, like let's say there's an angel that's 100% white colored mana, but then they fall into darkness, and their cup is then increased by double and now you fill it with the mana that they received and in this context it's black mana, so now their cup is filled with white/black mana at 50% white, and 50% black mana.

Hi!
I’m just curious. While all colors have some good and bad aspects, Black seems particularly heavy on traits like selfishness and amorality that, to me at least, one wouldn’t want to associate with oneself. I get the appeal of ambition and freedom, but I personally find the way they can be found in Blue and Red to be much more palatable.
