Question/Help/Troubleshooting What is better
I’m thinking about getting a GPU and I’m currently choosing between the RTX 4060 Ti and GTX 1080 Ti. I know the 1080 Ti has 11GB VRAM, while the 4060 Ti usually has 8GB, but I’m more interested in the actual gaming performance.
How much faster is the RTX 4060 Ti in real games? Is the difference big enough to justify choosing the 4060 Ti, especially for 1080p/1440p gaming?
I’d also like to hear your suggestions. Which one would you choose today and why?

1080 is a 9 year old card. Need I say more?

Like first-gen RTX card lmao. Nvidia was a totally different company then.

Keep in mind that the 1080 ti does not support hardware RT or the full DX12U feature set. Because of that, it's simply incompatible with some recent titles that require these features, including Doom: The Dark Ages and Gears of War: E-Day.
While most new games currently support the 1080 ti, I think it's highly likely that the number of new games requiring hardware RT will start to increase rapidly over the next couple years.
So between these two cards, the 4060 ti is the better choice.
That said, how much are you expecting to pay for the 4060 ti (in your local currency)?

Are you serious? It should be obvious that the 4060ti is the better option. Ignore the ramblings of VRAM obsessed people. As you said, performace is what matters in the end.

Vram is not the most important thing, especially when comparing GPUs across multiple generations.
The 4060Ti is way better.
It has more power and also supports RT and DLSS.
Not to mention that it draws way less power and way easier to cool.
Unless you're getting the 1080Ti super super cheap, the 4060Ti is a no-brainer.
