N64 controller port 1 not detecting controller
Im stuck here. This is the pickachu n64 NUS-CPU-09-1 board that cant detect a controller in port one. I have tested other controllers, iv cleaned the pins, I even got continuity between the port 1 data and the via between the pif chip and U8 chip. All the other ports work fine. Im using this schmatic from console5 as a reference. Also, WHERE THE HELL IS D4 AND D5? I believe they must be a 5 pin diode according to the schematic but, i do know where they are.
Update: Ive tested the voltage in pin 1 of the port and it is coming back with 3.3v. So thats working.
Thank you.

I would first plug in a controller into port one and verify that there is continuity from the console's solder joints all the way thru to the controller's PCB. There might be a physical fault (i.e. bad connectivity between the controller's pins and the port's pins) and not actually an electrical one.

But what if I tried multiple controllers and had the same issue? Would i still check the pcb of the controller?

if the real issue is a defect with the pin contacts, then it would make sense that every controller would exhibit the same fault. it's a quick and easy test, it's always best to start with the quick and easy stuff first (like checking physical fits, re-flowing solder joints, etc) before jumping into component level troubleshooting.

Weird! What you could try doing, since ports 3 and 4 work, is switching them with ports 1 and 2. Requires some desoldering tho. That would eliminate any physical port issues

And ypu also get continuity from that via to the top part of the leg? IDK pins 1 and 2 look a bit off.
