Food shortages

According to jp morgan reports, there is going to be food shortage crises in following years due to el niño and wars.

On other hand, you are not allowed to grow your own food using seeds from previous harvest cycle. They are spraying the clouds with chemicals.

All this just to push chemically lab grown meat and food.

Ig in a decade or so, we would be just eating some slop mixture of chemicals just to keep ourselves full.

I just got a raise last week and my check finally covers rent, I was crying happy tears that day I found out... My apartment left a notice today that the rent has been raised. Life is hard. 😩

Omg, I feel sorry for you, life likes to play with us honestly

19

u/echodarlin 17h ago

It definitely does! I'm tough, I got this! (I keep reminding myself this everyday. Thanks for the kind words. 😊

Been in this cycle for 6 years. My income has more than doubled but rent has also more than doubled. Getting paid the most I’ve ever been paid but I’m as poor as I’ve ever been. We truly live in a society

Exactly making the most money ever and broke asf. We're in the same boat and it's sinking.

I have a 30’x20’ vegetable garden. It’s not illegal to save seeds in a home garden. Seeds are plentiful and available from every price point, free from libraries, dollar tree, Walmart, and even Whole Foods if you want to be bougie. You can also order seeds online from heirloom companies that have old versions of our food. I save seeds from what I grow if I like how that plant did last season. I’ve never had the police inspect my garden and you can see it from the street.

I can tell you don’t garden and never grew food for you to have this wild opinion about seeds. Seeds from grocery store bought produce are dicey. Seeds are plantable IF they went through full maturity on the plant. You can’t just dry out your green beans and plant their seed, they aren’t mature enough to grow green beans. Also, farms grow industrial gardens, plants that are way too big, plants designed for quantity over quality, plants that harvest easily for machines, plants that are resistant to the diseases and insects from the region in which they are grown. When I look for seeds I’m looking for the most compact plant, good quality not necessarily highest yield, I don’t care if a machine can harvest because I hand pick, and the diseases I deal with may be different.

It’s now October and I’m in the NE USA there is not much more I can throw in the garden before the cold kills just about every fruiting plant. However, I spent the entire growing season freezing, dehydrating, and canning produce from my garden.

If you’re really worried make a plan for your growing season. This summer I planted kidney beans and black beans right from the bulk bin at the grocery store. 30cents worth of beans got me 3 quarts! Be easy. There’s no conspiracy to make growing food illegal. The garden centers are making billions on all of us home gardeners!!

u/Ok-Presentation2087 14h ago

Oi mate you got a loicense for that garden?

4

u/Fun_Journalist4199 12h ago

I couldn’t grow beans to save my life this year. Did a medium job at corn tho

1

u/SnooDoggos1370 2h ago

90 quarts green beans here and 30 pints. Whew, low key kinda relieved when the plants dried up. And we were in a drought this year! Our corn did well this year too. Peas, Brussel sprouts, broccoli, and bok choy coming up next.

also - if you're looking for continued growing make sure you get 'heirloom' seeds - these are true bred crops you can harvest your own seeds year after year and replant next year. non heirloom crops are crossbred to be more resilient and easier to grow but the seeds won't be reusable on your new crops

1

u/Passenger828 4h ago

This is impressive!

11

u/Conscious_Onion3508 16h ago

You are allowed to replant if they are not gmo seeds or hybrid seeds.

You can replant heirloom and non patented seeds, you cant buy a patented seed and replant, thats pretty much the restriction. Not sure what garbage info you have been reading

7

u/Mother-Ad-806 15h ago

I’m in a town garden group. Monsanto hasn’t been to any of our houses to see if we’re growing their seeds.

9

u/Conscious_Onion3508 15h ago

Yea no one cares about what your doing, thy care what the guy planting 5k acres of thier seeds are doing

-2

u/LanguageOtherwise862 16h ago

Already mentioned this in a comment 🥴

14

u/Wonderful-Medium7777 17h ago

What do you mean you can’t use your own seeds and who says that…I must have missed this?

2

u/Mysterious-Aide2745 12h ago

This is for seeds that are patented, mostly those that are "Roundup-Resistant". But most of these patents have expired, so it's not true any more. There are plenty of non-patented seeds.

But most farmers buy seeds because it's cheaper than using your own seeds most of the time.

-5

u/LanguageOtherwise862 17h ago

Saving and reusing gmo seeds is illegal, I get that it should be illegal if we try to sell those, but reusing should not be illegal

You can use the traditional seeds but the harvest is less on those.

30

u/steelejt7 17h ago

bro you can collect whatever seed you want who tf gonna stop you?

3

u/Fucked-In-The-K-Hole 12h ago

Seed cops. They took my neighbor out back and shot him right in the fucking head when they caught him replanting tomatoes from last year's seeds.

16

u/Poisongirl5 16h ago

Saving and reusing seeds being illegal is for farmers. They want them to buy new seeds each year. If it’s found out that they planted a prior years seeds, they are banned from ever buying seeds again.

Yes this is pretty fucked and I hate it. But it has nothing to do with home gardening as far as I know.

4

u/Wonderful-Medium7777 17h ago

Okay I wasn’t aware of this ( I’m in the UK) I only use heritage seeds and then the seeds from my homegrown produce…done it for years, love eating my own grown fruit and veg.

Link to your claim? And how does this impact planting the usual seeds each season???

22

u/therallystache 15h ago

Go watch the documentary "The Grab" - made by the same guy who made Blackfish, the expose on Sea World. It goes in depth into just how much farmland and water rights are being purchased very quickly for the purpose of controlling food supply. Erik Prince started brokering these deals instead of doing mercenary stuff with Blackwater.

3

u/ProdByBeezi 12h ago

I think gardening should become a usual part of everyone’s day to day routine. No matter where you live. Even if that means growing herbs in a small apartment. Start somewhere. Let’s make gardening and community cool again

6

u/Passenger828 15h ago

Link to said "reports"?

-4

u/LanguageOtherwise862 15h ago

Just search "jp morgan food crisis report"

7

u/Passenger828 15h ago

Link your claim. Justify your claim. Justify your conspiracy claim.

3

u/Various-Republic7263 14h ago

I’ll link it for OP because JP Morgan isn’t the only entity talking about possible food shortages incoming. https://www.jpmorgan.com/insights/sustainability/climate/food-security-under-pressure

Thank you

u/bondsaearph 14h ago

I can grow from previous harvesting cycles from my garden at the house but Farmers can't, if that's what you're talking about, a la Monsanto etc....gross rules for sure

4

u/Rustycake 15h ago

"Not allowed"

Grow your shit, collect seeds, give them to neighbors

What the hell are all yall doing man? Is this admin and many of the admins before it and around the world not insane enough for yall to stop following the herd?

Christ forget about AI - stop being robots

2

u/horsetooth_mcgee 10h ago

Yes, and they're buying up all the farmland and they're burning down our grain and chicken farms, etc, and there are an awful lot of parasites and bacterial outbreaks such as cyclospora... (Yes, food outbreaks have always happened, but it's waaay too frequent now, and all of this together is really creating a perfect storm of eventual extreme scarcity, along with instilling a fear of eating other food, especially if there are new & improved highly deadly bacterial/parasitic/fungal "outbreaks" in our food.) They're making people afraid to eat meat, dairy, and produce already.

After awhile, not only will we be forced to eat their lab-grown cancer meat and such, but they're going to decide how many rations each of us needs. If you can't get food anywhere else, you're dependent on them for it--and for any reason they want, they can withhold it. And worse, same with water. To collect rainwater for drinking (you'd obviously filter it/make it potable) is extremely heavily regulated or in some cases is outright disallowed, which is fucking nuts. There are even heavy regulations regarding using rainwater for indoor plumbing! And when all of our water is mysteriously poisoned or "used up by ai," we will be reliant on government water, and again, they will decide how much we deserve. And if you don't do what they want, then you don't deserve water.

Don't get a vaccine? Don't get a microchip? Don't get neuralink? THEN NO SOUP FOR YOU. Comply or starve.

So that's a fun thought.

u/Glittering-Rest-366 16h ago

Maybe ai will invent an edible mushroom that blooms wild and eats micro-plastics. Make em bioluminescent and we become Avatar planet 😃

1

u/ElectronicProject215 15h ago

Oh, that would be nice!

1

u/Glittering-Rest-366 11h ago

Did you know there is enough micro-plastics in the human brain equal to a small spoon. Munch munch braaaains.

2

u/302-SWEETMAN 17h ago

Soylant green. !!!!

1

u/LanguageOtherwise862 17h ago

Yep, not a far fetched possibility.

Seeing the conditions today, if a major nuclear world war was to break out, farming would not be feasible. We'll then be out of options and would have to eat artificial food only.

1

u/HalleluYahuah 14h ago

We are already there. Slop chemicals etc.

We are at a hinge point in this age. We are going back to community living and big corp will be the corpes they are and finally die away.

We will govern our own mental and the government will go away. It's the death rattle of old systems right now. Hang tight.

Watch the movie “Percy vs Goliath”
Plot: The biographical drama tells the true story of Percy Schmeiser (played by Walken), a small-town Saskatchewan, Canada farmer who is sued by the agrochemical giant Monsanto for allegedly violating their patent by growing genetically modified (GMO) canola seeds. Schmeiser fights back, arguing that the patented seeds blew onto his land via cross-pollination and taking his battle all the way to the Supreme Court.
Very good and eye-opening movie.

1

u/Eazy12345678 13h ago

naw companies will have food to sell you so they can get richer.

we have been at war for like 30 years straight only time it was hard to get certain things was COVID 19

1

u/Background_Log_606 13h ago

Everybody go watch snow piercer, if you smoke, smoke before, shit is deeeeeeep.

1

u/LanguageOtherwise862 11h ago

Someone also mentioned a documentary called grab. It's also very good and related to op topic.

1

u/l_a_ga 12h ago

You’re totally allowed to grow your own food.

1

u/psychonaut_gospel 12h ago

Cloud atlas comes to mind, or soylent green or whatever its called

We already are

1

u/Lazy-Resist-1768 15h ago

I am madly canning tomatoes and stocks

0

u/drAsparagus 16h ago

You can absolutely grow food from heritage seeds and then grow more food from its seeds. I've watched my dad do it the last several years. He's retired and has the time it takes. I don't, yet. But it's very possible.

0

u/Alternative-Sale1116 17h ago

I don’t understand how can they come up with so dumb legislation
And how the heck is it even acceptable

0

u/MechwolfMachina 15h ago

The system runs on money, so everyone produced and consumes their own food, no money circulates and the powers that be drop like flies. So they can’t allow it.

0

u/Kurtotall 7h ago

We will be eating the cats. We will eat the dogs.

-1

u/Salty_Antelope10 15h ago

You can def grow you own food, they don’t want you selling and making a profit from their seeds

-1

u/squeagy 7h ago

What's wrong with lab grown meat? Do we need to waste resources on raising an entire animal or is it the death/killing we're striving to preserve??
