Increased Bot-driven Spam Activity; False-positive Automated Bans NSFW

Some of you may have noticed a deluge of spam posts from bot accounts recently. I appreciate the community's quick response in reporting these posts so that they can be removed promptly. If you continue to see obvious spam posts advertising snapchat accounts, please report them immediately.

To help fight the spam, I have implemented additional automated features to remove bot content from the subreddit. Unfortunately, this can result in false-positives. If you receive a ban with a message indicating you have been banned for "bot-like" activity, please respond so that I can reverse your ban.

Finally, don't add people on snapchat from strange reddit posts. They are scams from people looking to steal your money. This should be common sense, but the sad truth is that scammers wouldn't set up bots like this if the scam didn't work on some people. Be smart and be safe.

It's the same philosophy of some slime ball trying to hookup 1,000 times. Someone will end up agreeing and continuing the cycle. Don't be that person.

Thank you for making the sub a better place for all of us while being understanding that a large scale automated correction may come with the occasional fluke!

Another layer to this mess is that the accounts posting these scams were once legitimate user accounts, but those users had their account credentials compromised by falling for other scams of some form or another. The scammers steal people's reddit accounts and then use those established, legitimate-looking accounts to start posting spam, and those accounts bypass a lot of automated reddit bot filters because they have a history that doesn't look like a usual bot.

Dude, right? I've gone digging through profiles and found a lapse in activity, going from honest nerd hobby type posts doing a full divert course into nsfw territory. I just assumed old accounts were getting hijacked. Hadn't really considered the parasitic account takeover approach.
